I agree help is always warranted as long as it doesn't spoil anything. GoT kind of just throws you into the middle of a dense story that has thousands of years of backstory and family history and wars and betrayals. Knowing the names of characters and locations can't hurt.
I'm very excited to see someone else go through this fantastic journey. I would suggest that you get someone to moderate the comments because people really love to spoil this show for some reason. And turning on subtitles will be very helpful as someone else suggested. Especially when they start speaking a different language. Fun Fact that was a real a dead stag.
It’s always very hard for me to watch (and get used to) new reactors, especially if it’s game of thrones cause not everyone has the discipline to really dive into it and understand its details. But as soon as ned says “winter is coming” for the first time and everyone cheers even though they haven’t watch it yet, i get hooked on the spot😂 insane power for a 3 word phrase.

Pay attention to the opening credits, they will show you where in Westeros the episodes events will take place. Good luck watching a sanitized version of this adult TV show. You may want to get a moderator to weed out spoilers in the comments. Most of us GOT fans are very protective of newbies, and are loathe to spoil the show. But you will occasionally get some inadvertent comments or you may get some jerks.
GoT is one of the most intense, shocking, but addictive shows in the history of television. I'm pretty picky with reactions but you guys are really enjoyable on this first episode. looking forward to the next one

wildlings are the tribes north of the wall the exiled people, Wights are the dead ones brought back to life by White Walkers the blue eyes are prominent in whitewalkers and wights
Trin might want to consider downloading a GoT character tree to keep track of who’s who, otherwise you’ll get hopelessly lost keeping everyone straight. There is a huge cast!
Those images of characters with a little bit of info were really good addition, especially since the show has so many different people in it. I hope we will revisit those pictures in future as well, however perhaps after viewing of the episodes and not before them. But that is a very minor qualm, otherwise great reaction & epic sword! :D

GOT has such a big cast and so many storylines, we have found that watching shows with friends can get a bit distracting with all the laughter and or screaming, and they might miss some things. So having a baseline understanding helps them follow along better. -Producers
Thanks for choosing this show, guys ! I, myself, started late with the show when it was nearly at the end; but it became one of my favourites, because it has all the elements: drama, action, mystery, action, politics, suspense, humour, but above all (in comparison to other “action/fantasy” shows it has beautiful dialogues and great acting. Sometimes the show can be hard to watch especially for anyone with a great feel for justice and some scenes are that brutal that you just have to look away (if I would have to choose between excessive violence and nudity, ....) . You just have to wait/watch for silver linings. I wish you a great journey, warm regards from the Netherlands!
Great reaction. And some good insights. You are all correct in noting that the first episode lays out essential relationships between various characters, and does this very well. And (not a spoiler) there is excellent foundation here for the future growth of many of the characters. Like a good novel, the series creators get little details right.

All you need to know is that Emila Clarke is a Goddess and that her Character Danerys, and Arya Stark are the two best things in GoT! With the best story arcs! I avoided GoT thinking green screen dragons wud make it some crap kids fantasy video nonsense! Boy was I wrong! I binge watched every season straight thru......took me about 10 days, all day!! Epic binge experience! I only stopped to make food, go the bathroom, or sleep!🤣🤣🤣

Lol, 10 months late but I enjoyed your reaction. I liked the going through the characters at the beginning you did. Though there were a few mistakes which I'm sure you're probably aware of by now being on Season 5. Theon is not a prince. The Iron Islands were under Targaryen rule just like the rest of the Seven Kingdoms (they are part of the Seven Kingdoms) but after the Targaryens dynasty collapsed, Theon's family rebelled against Robert and declared themselves independent and kings of the Iron Islands. You could argue Theon was a prince then but Robert defeated them and they were made lords once more. So Theon was prince for a few months (until Season 2 when Balon Greyjoy declared independence again).

Everything comes full circle through entire show. Even if it seems like it's insignificant, it will mean something. You will need subtitles on if you are not watching it on hbo. Hbo will have 1 specific language titles. Enjoy! Oh and you'll need to be ok with sex nudity incest and anything crazy 🤣 enjoy
