  • Somehow, I managed to get invited to Air Canada's brand new Airbus A220 (originally Bombardier C-Series) maiden commercial flight from Montreal to Calgary, in Business Class and in seat 1A no less! From the festivities at the gate to the atmosphere onboard, it was one gigantic party to celebrate this Canadian built airliner's induction into Canada's Flag Carrier.
Thanks to Alvin from OneMoreWeekToGo for trading seats with me!

Interesting facts about Mirabel: PE Trudeau was the man behind Mirabel’s construction. It was supposed to be a Montreal/Ottawa serving massive airport with 6 runways and 6 terminals (only two of each were built). It failed because it was just too far to all city centres and it was built on the speculation that planes heading to Pacific North America from Europe would have to stop and fill up (think similar to Anchorage, Alaska). Of course plane technology improved before the airport was ever completed and airlines didn’t like being forced away from Dorval. Ironically, PE got an airport to his namesake, just the airport he wanted shut down not the one he wanted built.

This will be a train/monorail linking many parts of the city to downtown Montreal, with even a link between the airport and downtown! What a beautifully equipped cabin! European airlines could learn a lot from this on how to equip a business class cabin on a narrow-body aircraft. For example, BA just keeps the centre seat of three empty in business class. Leg room is the same as Economy. Food is nice though.

As a Montrealer, you make the city look good. Just as a side note the airport used to be just called Dorval which is the name of the "arrondissement" of Montreal where it is located, renamed Pierre Elliott Trudeau as you mentioned in the video, funny fact that the road signs indicate PET which French Quebecers laugh at because "pet" means farting (flatulence).

FYI, Montréal is on an island at an angle in the Saint Lawrence and since the city naturally started from the river's edge, well, they just called it south. So the airport is considered west of downtown, despite what maps and the sun and your very impressive animation say.

Thank you so much for such a great video! It bring me memories of my days back at Bombardier Aerospace when I started as an intern. The C-Series was the beating heart of the company. Even if it has a new name today and under a new management, I think history will remember the blood and sweat that Bombardier and its international partners have invested for the betterment of the aviation industry.
With your sense of humour and creativity, I think it would be great to see your reviews of hotels! Presently, a lot of Marriott and Hilton properties are amidst renovations and it would be interesting to see how these two eternal rivals will offer to their customers at the turn of this new decade.
Finally, I was wondering if you would also be interested in reviewing our national passenger train system. It is my personal mean of transportation between the Quebec City and Windsor Corridor and I wish more people could see the great (ok nothing compared to the European or Chinese HSR) passenger rail system we have in Canada. I see that you have travelled between YYZ and YUL by plane. Have you thought about trying a business class train trip between Toronto Union and Montreal Central?

Hey! I like your name, and yes, I too interned at Bombardier in 2015 for a couple months, and I could feel the energy around the C series, I think everyone who cares will know that it's a Canadian Boi.
I didn't know about the hotel ramp up, thank you for pointing that you, I'll definitely look into it now. Although, I'm pretty biased in that category as I almost never stay at Hiltons.
As for VIA Rail. I was considering making a video, it would be a different pace, but I don't really use them, as the 4-hour commute between Toronto and Montreal is just too long for my schedule. Perhaps if my girlfriend and I take a vacation, or we do the cross-canada sleeper train. VIA has announced that they have new trains on the way, so maybe I'll check those out when they launch.

Awesome review, reminded me of my trip on the AC 737-8 back in 2018. The design language of AC cabin is pretty much the same now. keep it up!

apart from the awkward racoon eyepatch for all new AC on Air Canada, I must admit this is one of the best if not the best cabins i've seen in a while. Im also of the opinion that the a220 itself is the sexiest plane in the sky. It's like what the a320 should've looked like. More agile and less chubby by the looks :D

Awesome IFE, and I can’t believe how you bribed a certain Air Canada staff with jugs of maple syrup. Hopefully SQ can adopt these new IFE screens in their next cabin refresh, perhaps on their upcoming B777X jets. Do you have plans to fly SQ soon?

Ahem...The A220, or CSeries, was flight tested in Wichita, KS. =)
