10:34 Descent and Arrival Into YUL
----------------------------------------------
Remember all the promises that were made about the A220-300, and the long / thin routes it would make possible? Air Canada has made good on it with the introduction of nonstop service between San Diego and Montreal.
This is a full review of AC526 from SAN to YUL, in business class. Total flying time was a short 4:45 considering that we covered a distance of 2,460 miles, and...it was loads of fun.
FYI, my seat number was 2A and the aircraft registration was C-GVUH.

I heard of flights being canceled because of the coffee machine. Doesn't surprise me one bit about the milk. Also, for the pilot himself going and buying up all the milk to get you guys up in the air, very impressive.
I wish I would have recorded his announcement about the lack of milk. He was really miffed about it. 😄
Very Canadian, eh? LOL
It’s like in Airplane 2 when everyone on the plane freaks out cuz the stewardess said they’re out of coffee.
I love the window view of these aircraft such a widebody vibe.
I agree! It’s like a mini A350 IMHO.
This seems nearly identical to my experience with them in international premium economy, down to the food and the bathroom wallpaper
I sure do love the A220 too. That plane is a winner for sure.
Lovely flight. Very nice late night viewing for me too! It's 1:10am. Night!
I love Air Canada and I'm glad both your recent flights on the airline have been great.
Great video as always.
Keep it up.
Thanks Meeran! I wish there was a way to fly AC domestically here in the US. They are leaps and bounds better than most of the airlines we have down here!
@@sanspotter I've always said Air Canada is the best airline in North America and that is just my opinion. No offense but I'm glad you think the same way,or at least when comparing to the US airlines.
This route helped us soo much!! I flew the 737 max SAN-YUL in economy and it felt much more roomier than the A220 on the way back!
Thanks for the info + video!
Loving it. I’m catching up with the videos I missed
I was waiting for you to upload a new video and you did! You just made my day! Once again a banger video Sanspotter 👍
I love the air Canada a220-300 even though I've never been on it before 😅
Thanks Justin! Glad you enjoyed it, and I hope you get to try the A220 soon!
never woulda imagined san diego to montreal in an a220-300, flew with air canada on a a330-300 from lax to yyz a couple months back and previously ewr to lax in a 777-200 with united
Nice to see your videos again!
Glad you like them!
love your footage and AC!
I have never flown on an A220 but I don’t think I would like to be on such a small aircraft for almost 5 hours, even if it was in business class. I remember a flight I took from Fort Lauderdale to San Francisco on a 737 and it was a torturous 5 hour experience. Thanks for doing this Scott!❤️✈️
i definitely could
The longer the flight, the bigger I want the aircraft to be. If it's going to Europe or Asia, I definitely want 2 aisles so there is room to get up and walk.
I agree! 5 hours on the A220 is pushing my limits, but this flight would be even worse westbound (into headwinds). I’d probably choose to make a connection somewhere instead of going for the nonstop. 😬😬
@@davidcole333 I totally agree!
I have 150+ flights experience on A220, including 3+ hour flights. You re quite wrong, flights are comfortable and nice.
Nice review Scott.
Nice to see the videos again, shoe game still strong too.
Excellent review Scott!😸
Thanks Ryan!
Yes delays for certain flights are not surprising, I've flown a few times on the YYZ to SFO route and it was almost consistently late. FlightAware will usually tell you thier track record, when planning flights. Always booked a long layover (+3hrs) just in case, lol. Anyway, this jet is far better than trying to fit into a CRJ. However, it looked like the airport apron perosnnel where late bringing the plane to the gate, just sayin'. Great video!
Imo I would rather be on an a220 for a 6 hour flight than a 737 like I was on a few weeks ago considering the a220 has super wide seats compared to the 737
Yeah, in economy it’s much better than a 737!
Great review. The A220 is still on my bucket list of new aircraft I have yet to fly on. Need to check that out and the A330neo!
Nice review of this trip, and glad to see it appears better than I had with them. We had a flight on this exact aircaft back in August and was not as great. This was during ACs great summer melt down and we flew YHZ-YYZ-AUS (overnight in YYZ). The A220 flight was fine, but an hour late (however they did move us to this flight from the even later flight we had, so that was fine). The video would not work at all, would be re-set and run for about 2 or 3 min and lock up. Did enjoy the 220 however and the meal was OK, but nothing great. Service fine, but not outstanding.
Now, the next morning we had a 8am flight to AUS and overnight got alerts that it was delayed 1/2 hr then hr, but got to YYZ at 515am anyway since it was a zoo on arrival the night before.
After numerous delays, we finally left about an 1.5 hrs late on a substiuted ER-175 for a CRJ-900 (was looking forward to the 900). Really old plane needed re-furb. The seat in front of me (still in F) was broken and kept coming back on me from one side and the whole interior looked tired. The video and wi-fi were both inop, and the F/A seemed bored by the whole flight, not showing up after the service. Not a F class experience . Same breakfast as you had, which was ok too, but did look like your.
Finally, lost one of our 2 bags and took 5 days to get it back, despite it actually being in AUS the whole time off the next flight (we live about 1.5 hrs away and didn't want to drive all the way back). The whole AC experience was a disappointment as had a few great flights with them (many years ago however).
ARR Can hasn’t been needed since last fall. Great video as always
The water from Naya is located in Mirabel, Qué. Few km from the former Montreal-Mirabel International Airport. It's in Montréal western suburbs.
Wrong! Northern suburbs.
Uncle Cal and Aunt Linda enjoyed seeing your video tonight too! Another great job Scott!
Oh no - they know too? 😬😄 Glad everyone enjoyed it!
Great video sir! Not going to lie, this video dry spell has been hard to manage hahaha. Hope to see more great content soon.
Oh your WJ video inspired me, I can't get the family (with 2 kids) in business class, but we'll be on the 787 to Paris in August in Premium. Very excited!
Thanks man! I actually spend more time on my blog than this YT channel these days. Yeah, I’m stuck in 2010. 😅 Anyway, you’re going to like premium economy! It’s a good looking seat, and seems excellent for long haul.
@SANspotter oh! I haven't looked at your blog in a while but I'll have a read through. I love reading blogs, and yours are well written! I've been so busy with work I've completely abandoned my own blog for now (I'm a nurse), but I need to get back to it too
Great video as always Scott. Got to give the Captain a lot of credit for going out and trying to buy milk for the entire plane, he could have just as easily bought one just for himself. Hope no one in Terminal 2 wanted milk for a couple of days...
Totally agree John! I was thinking about that as well - but he probably ticked off a lot of other passengers who needed milk in T2 that day. 😄
Love the impending juxtaposition when United starts flying their 777 between SAN and IAD in June!
Yeah, I just heard about that yesterday! I cannot wait to try it!
love the videos
Yay - it made my day to see the notification that you posted a new video! I'm surprised you didn't request tea with milk, or a glass of milk, with your breakfast :😉
Wow! This is a LONG time in small surroundings…lovely city, though ( I used to go to college in Upstate NY and we’d occasionally head up there for long weekends or the occasional festival)
Eastbound, it’s a 5(ish) hour flight (which isn’t so bad). Westbound, it can be over 6, which I agree is a bit much for a plane that small. Just wish it would have been daylight when arriving at YUL though - I keep hearing how beautiful of a city it is!
Air Canada's SFO to YUL is also operated by CS300, they will also open SMF to YYZ route starting June, that route will also be operated by CS300
I’m booked on SFO-YUL this summer and it says it’ll be on a 737 max. Maybe they use A220 during winter only
@@TeddyBearGaming999 Probably, Air Canada and United always switch aircrafts without notifying any passengers in advance
Personally, I’d love to see them put these on some new (thin) transatlantic routes.
@@sanspotter Yeah, hopefully they can do it in the future.
@@sanspotter Halifax - Dublin, or St. John's - London Heathrow could be candidate routes for the A220
Awesome video once again!
Also…. What are your top 5 favorite plane types you’ve ever flown on?
Thanks! Good question: 747, A380, A350, 787, and 757. 👍🏻
@@sanspotter No L-1011?
I see u were using belize 🇧🇿 as ur location nice to highlight my country
hey, what devices & apps do you use for filming & editing?
Really awesome!
Thanks!
Just curious when exactly you flew this flight? Shows recent upload of this video.
You mentioned and showed quite dislike near the beginning of having to use the ArriveCan app, of which to say mandatory use of it ended as of October 1,2022.
I fly for Breeze, on the A220 based out of BDL. We fly from BDL to LAS all the time. Hopefully you can come on one of those trips and give your opinion 😁👍🏽.
I may be on that route in the future. I'll look for you...
@derbagger22 my name is Paul. Even if you don't see me up there, we have really good crews 😌👍🏽
The "mystery" stuff on your breakfast plate is cottage cheese .. :)
I’ll point it out every time, but kudos for blurring other peoples faces! 👌🏼
My guess on the mystery substance on your plate is polenta.
Scott, from one Avgeek to another, PLEASE include the A220 whale song in your videos, just as you would a 777 spool up.
Your reviews keep getting better and better. 5 stars for enjoyment factor.
I didn’t want to know! 🙅🏼♂️😆 Glad you’re enjoying the videos! And yes, I tried to work the takeoff sound into this, but it was difficult because of how much quieter it is coming to something like the 777. You can hear it in my separate takeoff video though!
Cool video. How is the New San Diego International Airport renovation coming? Please do an update on this from time to time. The last video update that their youtube page was quite sometime back. Thanks and keep up the great videos.😀
Never flown Air Canada. Hopefully some day
The white "stuff" is Hollandaise sauce, I believe.
I find that Air Canada maximizes the three-class seat density on their A220, unlike Delta with its bathroom window. Nevertheless, the operating economics and flight capabilities of this aircraft is staggering. Breeze Airways is still eagerly waiting for its long-haul ocean-crossing version of the A220-300(LR) with 4,000 nautical mile range. Would you fly Transatlantic in an A220-300? What kind of passenger environment would make that flight comfortable?
I think it wouldn't be anything too different from Icelandair, WestJet or Air Canada service on the 737MAX. Just a bit narrower, but with larger windows.
They have used the same breakfast for decades. Yes, the parsley omelet, turkey sausage and cottage cheese breakfast has been offered for a very long time.
That business class needs to be in a 1-2 configuration like you see on the regional jets.
I do recommend a flight in 1991 or 1992 inflight service wise. thnx
Just imagine how good the economy class meal would have been in 91! 😮
@@sanspotter great scott.
That sausage was HUGE...
The arrive can app info ended a long time ago in Canada.
But you can fill out your customs form in arriveCan and ease up the formalities with immigration. You clear immigration quicker.
Did anyone answer you on the sauce with the eggs? I think it was likely Béarnaise sauce, commonly served on eggs Benedict
If that is business class, yeah I want to be on a bigger airplane. Way too cozy for business class. It just reinforces the unhappy part of flying, herding the cattle in for a nicer seat, and that is about it. Definitely saving up for a charter flight with friends. Not doing the cattle in a bus with wings thing unless I absolutely have too.
A charter flight would be epic! It would probably require a lot of friends though to justify the cost. 😄
I flew it from Calgary to Toronto
It’s a nice plane, isn’t it?
Always Love a good SANSpotter pun! 😊
Bro, you gotta try the new Cebu Pacific A330neo.
I’d love to do that!
@@sanspotter But beware, that aircraft is one of the densest in the world with a 460 all coach config.
I thought ArriveCAN is no longer required.
This flight was back in mid November, so I’m not sure if it’s still required.
@@sanspotter Now optional. It asks the same questions as the kiosk.
No lounge access?
Unfortunately nope.
I'm a huge fan of Air Canada. Did you get milk in your coffee?
Can’t go wrong with sausages!
That’s my motto - doesn’t even matter what it looks like!
10days ago I travelled to Canada 2 weeks ago it's optional
Cottage cheese! It is a decent breakfast but a bit repetitive….
I wish Air Canada would use the A220 for long thin routes from YHZ to Europe, especially since Westjet just annouced that they have cut their flights to DUB, LGW, CDG, and GLA for 2023. I hate flying west to go east.
The A220 is definitely capable of that, so I wouldn’t be surprised to seem them sending these things to Europe in the busy summer months.
I’m apparently a unicorn with Air Canada out of SAN- flew to YVR couple years ago, flight was on time.
Gotta try ANA
The creamy stuff may have been creme fraiche?
Hi
Always enjoy your videos Scott! great production, humor and always helpful. I would love your feedback on my flight videos. I am just starting out and value your perspective. Cheers!
Premium economy it is
Pretty much!
There is a SERIOUS HOLE in covering Breeze Airlines. I cannot find a single YT video on flying their "Nicer" seat on the A220. I saw your "Nicest" review. I've seen "Nicer" for the e190 and e195. But no A220.
I talk really quickly... and then... I talk....slowly. I talk really quickly... and then... I talk....slowly. I talk really quickly... and then... I talk....slowly.
Your bottled water is tap water.
Another mystery sauce? What is it with you and mystery sauces? You are probably best not knowing what it is.
Mystery sauces scare the hell out of me. 🙅🏼♂️😄
@@sanspotter And there I was looking forward to a nice chicken and rice review, and I was faced with a mystery sauce!
Whhhhhhhhy fuzz out the …. faces?
Came here for more San Diego-originating Air Canada Rogue content. Left disappointed.
😬😬😬😬😂
So much fuss about something that is sooooo ordinary, Air Canada’s Business class! Foremost, may I teach you, Mr. SANspotter, that A220’s C/ class seats AREN’T the same fitted in the 737s. Those 220 seats are those found aboard Air Canada’s wide body aircrafts’ Premium Economy cabins, paired at 48’’, as opposed to the 57’’ (like standard domestic First class in the US) paired seats in the 737s…
That being said, I still don’t understand why so many flight reviewers, like you, invest so much interest into something that barely compares to what Air Canada used to cater their Economy passengers in the 60, 70s and 80s, with the exception of the individual video screens, that is. For having been a member of Air Canada’s 3% revenue passengers’ club member, for flying their late First class product since my early teenage years, I can testify about the horrendous fall of this airline service and quality from the first day it’s been privatized. As a matter of fact, since Air Canada withdrew their remaining First-class product from international flights (overseas) and selected domestic Canadian and USA transcontinental flights (LAX YYZ YUL), in the Spring of 1994, the so called ‘’Super Business Class’’ never made up for the loss of what was still honourably competitive with some top-rated Asian and European carriers. Since then, the overall offer at Air Canada has been constantly disappointing, mainly for those who have known Air Canada at a way higher level. So, thanks for raving about that miserable breakfast and a bag of crackers but, I would not want to rain on your parade while raving about my numerous JFK LAX JFK transcon flights, aboard Pan Am’s First class, in the 80s and early 90s, where the caviar trolley made up for bags of crackers. As far as I am concerned, flying in North American (and even further), nowadays, means absolutely NO excitement whatsoever. I’m glad you still enjoy it, however.
Happy to see the masking nonsense on Air Canada finally stopped
They lifted it back on October last year (Canada).
Yet you're wearing a mask in your profile picture... You fool!
