Isn't the engineer that has designed some of these CT Sounds subs the same guy that designed the Audiopulse Axis quad 1 ohm voice coil 12 inch sub years ago? I still have my old quad 1 ohm voice coiled, 56'ish pounds 12" sub, though it's in a little crappy prefab box that's really pounding apart from the massive power of the axis! Well that, and it's had a XTR 2500 RMS watt Orion amp running at .8 ohms which I believe puts that amp easily around 4k watts RMS, probably more depending on how much box rise it's getting..
I'm 2 years late to the party but ..... My wife and I have identical 4RUNNER's besides color, and we "had" identical audio builds except for subs and boxes . I was a Skar fanboy and was running EVL 12's while she was running Tropos . It didn't take me long to swap over to CT Sounds because of sound quality and I never looked back .
I have a CT sounds Stratos 10" in a sealed box, and I'm really impressed with it. It hangs with my skar in a ported box. I'm about to build a ported box with .93 cu.ft. tuned to 35hz for it soon.
I ordered a tropo 12 XL with a skar prefab box. I’m really excited to see how it performs, I know it’ll be loud enough but I’m curious about sound quality. I also ordered some meso 6x9s and 5.25 coaxles :)
I've never heard anything bad about ct subs. Every model including my 2 12 ozones out performe the spec given . They hit hard and low and you can beat them and they keep on going strong. Awsome product! Best bang for the buck and beyond there rating👍
I've had multiple things from CT and skar and CT wins in most categories tbh. The speakers/components by CT are noticable better than any of the skar speakers I've had. The strato components and meso 3 way are the best for the $$.
Nice comparison.. Pricing has changed slightly since this vid released. Skar 12" SDR is currently ~$90, and CT Sounds Tropo is running ~$120.. Roughly $30 cheaper for the Skar. CT Sounds is still worth it though for the better sound quality and that extra "ooomph".. But also, $90 for the SDR is pretty amazing as well. Either way it's a win. I'm running a Skar 12" EVL Series in a ported box tuned at 32Hz.. 1500W being fed to it. That EVL gets down!
I got one of those CT Sounds as my home subwoofer. I like how they seem to appreciate you buying from them. They wrote a personal note and all. Over time Skar has just gotten so blahhh to me 🤷♂️ I've got a RP2k and some EVL's and I don't use either of em anymore. I did what I said I'd never do and moved to Sundown subs🤦♂️
CT Sounds Hands Down! I run Tropo 12's with Meso Comp sets in a YJ. With the hard top on or off these Speakers move some air!!! The sound quality for the price you can't go wrong!
CT sounds sub looks solid for sure. It also looks almost identical to Resilient Sounds RS 12. Which again are solid subs. I just put 2 Deaf Bonce Machete Fight 12s in my car on an Apocalypse 2900.1 and it pounds like crazy. I see no issues with build quality at all.
Definitely the ct takes the win here, but with the higher models there's not much comparison since ct is made more for the audiophile (SQ) while the skars are made more for spl

Had some meso CT sounds 15's about 7 years ago they were a beast. Bought the new versions and they was trash. Had to go through my credit card company to get my my money back there customer service is garbage. I will never buy from them again
id go with the CT subwoofer. its awesome you showed the actual wattage going to them. alot of people still think it takes a good amount of power to move subwoofer free air, which in reality it does not.

He's a CT sounds Fanboy there's a reason he didn't show the meter with the SDR and he did with the CT sounds probably rigged the test not saying he did but that's kind of what it looks like but I do know everybody has different experience he could have just got a bad defective woofer CT sound sent me too bad woofers in a row so after that I won't use none of the products anymore pretty budget line products as well they're just an off-the-shelf company just like scar there's nothing wrong with that it's just all their stuff's catalog meaning there's not a ton of r&d that goes behind their products is mostly just off the part shelves built to make a woofer speakers and etc and that's facts
i can't take much from this video.. didn't show the wattage meter on the skar, (smoked it) but did on the CT... that's a red flag and had to stop the compare at the point. (not saying anything btw)
The reason that skar blew the coil is because you are correct at tuning there is very little cone movement which translates to no air flowing or cooling of the coil lol
Heck yeah, I just got a tropo XL 12 today and I have two tropo 15's just to mess around with and I was legit shocked with how amazing they sound! Wolfram has some killer low budget woofers as well and deaf bonce does too!

I have 2 SKAR VVX3s 12's i have slammed for over 4 years in my rover. Bought a skar 8 for my truck and it had a weird rattle. Replaced it with a CT sounds Meso 8 and damn that is a beast. I'm sold On CT i think the newer SKARs are getting to cheaply made. My older 12's have a cast basket and they discontinued that sub probably because of manufacturing cost. I do have a skar rp1500.1 and 800.1 and they are great for the money.
im questioning your testing method. Stevemeade put 1200 watts to his sub for well over half an hour before it started making any kind of noise. The sdr series isn't a bad series if you set your stuff up correctly. I would have liked to see the impediance rise and seen some thicker speaker wire used. Plenty of peeps having zero issue with the sdr stuff. Also why show the SMD meter with the CT and not with the sdr? Something fishy going on here.
@@ATCA not once you factor in impedance rise no but it IS a 1200 watt amp regardless. It puts out over 1200 watt at its rated impedance. Impedance rise isn’t the fault of the amp that’s the sub and box. Steve mead also shows with his clamp meter what it’s pulling while it’s pounding. Go watch his video on the sdr.

That skar rigtht now is $84 on their website. Great price but that should not have had a meltdown like that. It's rated for 600W. Most subs can take a bit more abuse than what their rated. I'm running a cheap rockville K5 12" in my grocery getter at 450W with no problem whatsoever. But the grocery getter is getting an upgrade. Definately looking at the TROPO XL. Although the price on that is double the skar! (edit: just noticed they have a tropo and tropo-XL. Probably worth the extra $60 to get the 3" VC and higher power rating.

you mentioned in the video if there's any other subs in the same price range Check out Power Acoustik Gothic subs at Walmart cheaper than both of them and will definitely outperform the skar SDR by far then there is the Toro Fierce 12" sub I think the price is a little higher now but at one point it was $137 for one and they get low I have the step up from them the Toro Fierce s 12's and I am more than pleased great product and their customer service is amazing besides this stay up and stay Bassin brother 🔊🔊🤙🏼
I got 2 sdr subs on an rp2000 and have had it for over a year hitting hard without any problems so I don't know if what he is say is true must be doing something wrong behind the scene
My testing methods are conclusive. A true, clean, continuous 600w rms fried sub. Whereas the other brand did just fine. The SDR woofer is very popular because its cheap. But saying its a good woofer is a gross overstep. If you enjoy the SDR, you'll find other similar woofers to be much better.
I like a Skar SDR but after watching this maby the CT Sounds might be a wee bit better on the higher frequencies. Test Soundqubed subwoofers next. There my favorite for budget subs.

Do you know that when you put in your hand under the bottom you are restricting the pressure redo the video. I have something to hold the speaker up so they can perform better without you blocking that air whole it’s s never want to perform right
I’ve had both I liked skar better and their amps are also better than cts amps. Sdr is budget friendly I gave mine 1500 rms and it took it no problem then I had 2 evl 10s on 2500 watts and they wanted more power and now I have a skar vxf 15 on a crescendo 3k in a 5 cube box (over skars specs) and never had any issues and I also hit a 146 in a trunk with 1 15. Skar is a solid brand as long as everything is done correctly almost any brand will be fine. But personally I’m going skar over ct. but doesn’t mean ct isn’t good I just prefer skar hands down never had any problems with the company or their products and they are super underrated on power ratings.

My wife's car was setup with skar sdr 12 and beat everyday for a year with no problem at about 800 rms idk

Ct did just fine. This is one method i use to test coils. The most brutal.

Check it again. The ct clearly shows 600w at about 5 ohms. Thats after impedance rise. Thats not a 1200w amp...

They've gotten better. But still not the quality and performance of CT Sounds
The power acoustik gothic subs are 1 of the best subs for the money as far as how loud they get and handle a good amount of power.

you mentioned in the video if there's any other subs in the same price range Check out Power Acoustik Gothic subs at Walmart cheaper than both of them and will definitely outperform the skar SDR by far then there is the Toro Fierce 12" sub I think the price is a little higher now but at one point it was $137 for one and they get low I have the step up from them the Toro Fierce s 12's and I am more than pleased great product and their customer service is amazing besides this stay up and stay Bassin brother 🔊🔊🤙🏼

I got 2 sdr subs on an rp2000 and have had it for over a year hitting hard without any problems so I don't know if what he is say is true must be doing something wrong behind the scene
My testing methods are conclusive. A true, clean, continuous 600w rms fried sub. Whereas the other brand did just fine. The SDR woofer is very popular because its cheap. But saying its a good woofer is a gross overstep. If you enjoy the SDR, you'll find other similar woofers to be much better.
I like a Skar SDR but after watching this maby the CT Sounds might be a wee bit better on the higher frequencies. Test Soundqubed subwoofers next. There my favorite for budget subs.

@@ATCA I have the 18" so maybe thats why I like my sdr but I believe the Ct Sounds is better. As they say you get what you pay for and I see now why the SDR is cheaper priced. ITS BECAUSE THE TROPO SIRES BY CT SOUNDS IS BETTER THAN THE SDR😀💯

ct sounds seems very similar to resilient sounds....except it seems like you get more subwoofer for your money from resilient sounds
Do you know that when you put in your hand under the bottom you are restricting the pressure redo the video. I have something to hold the speaker up so they can perform better without you blocking that air whole it’s s never want to perform right
I’ve had both I liked skar better and their amps are also better than cts amps. Sdr is budget friendly I gave mine 1500 rms and it took it no problem then I had 2 evl 10s on 2500 watts and they wanted more power and now I have a skar vxf 15 on a crescendo 3k in a 5 cube box (over skars specs) and never had any issues and I also hit a 146 in a trunk with 1 15. Skar is a solid brand as long as everything is done correctly almost any brand will be fine. But personally I’m going skar over ct. but doesn’t mean ct isn’t good I just prefer skar hands down never had any problems with the company or their products and they are super underrated on power ratings.
