  • This race is everything you'd expect from HackRacing’s first time at the Runoffs.
Hurricane Ian threw everyone a curveball for the race after qualifying in perfect conditions. We expected a rain race but conditions Saturday morning were improving and there was clearly a dry line. There was no choice but to start on the SM7.5 slic tires and be careful off line.
Remember, this is HackRacing so of course as I pull out of the Krugspeed shop to head for the grid it starts misting. The combination of being on slic tires with temperature in the low 60s, changeable conditions, on one of the most notorious tracks to drive in the wet, made this an "entertaining" race to say the least.
Spec Piñata barely describes what went on in this race. See if you can count how many cars went off track. Normally I'd make comments during the video but this one you just have to watch. There's action throughout and you’ve got to stay for the two-lap shoot out! I started in 46th but once again my finishing result of 44th out of 59 did not reflect the drive. FWIW, I should’ve finished 32nd. Watch and see why.

    4 wide into T1 / L1!
A real drive to survive race.
While wet it was much drier than we anticipated.

Thanks for commenting. You're right about it being a "drive to survive" race. I was trying to stay out of trouble but trouble found me! We were lucky to get heat in the tires relatively early in the race for when it was full wet later on.
