    Kudos for the elaborate "real life" review . I found you on reddit and I have to say we really appreciate a review that discusses real life use instead of just reviewing the technical aspects of the device in isolation of practical uses. No one ever talks about the limitations of the Flow X13 so people can see this and decide whether they're okay with these aspects or not.

      Thank you so much :)
      I think it's important to show its limitations, and let people decide whether those limitations are worth the price and form factor. That's the fun part about laptops, every model has its own ups and downs, and if price isnt a big limiting factor, there's alot of options and configurations to choose from

    !DISCLAIMER!
    The "chip" in the Magnesium body at the top is actually a microphone hole, meant for noise cancelation.

    I have the 2021 model. Its been great so far! My nitpicks are :
    1. In this era, Asus was obsessed with raising the bottom of the laptop when the screen is pushed back far enough, now the non-replacable rubber feet on the screen has worn off so my screen is constantly scraping the surface when i use my laptop. It is also now very slippery on the surface with less cooling because of the lack of height from the rubber feet when it was new.
    2. The liquid metal they used has somehow leaked out, now it short-circuited the motherboard. This just happened this week, I'm now getting the board repaired.
    3.The Type-C ports are not that sturdy. The XG mobile port has been dead on mine for some time, and now my main Type-C port for charging only charges in certain positions. I'll look into getting the ports replaced soon.
    4. Every Flow X13 will experience the body coating flaking off, exposing the grey magnesium alloy below. Currently, there is no option to hide it, just have to deal with the "used look".

    I have been planning and preparing to buy this X13 for almost 3 years now and Im afraid to buy this 2023 version now that 2024 is coming very soon xD But I do think this is the best X13 version to date. I have been holding and waiting since the 2021 and 2022 versions but I am fixed on this x13 2023 now. I also had a year long debate with myself and my family and friends if I should go with the 16 inch and 13 inch but ultimately decided im going with the 13 incher bec of the tablet mode. I'll just connect the laptop to bigger screens in hotel room TVs etc... But yeah the main dilemma now is that I've spent so long saving for this laptop and Im quite ready for it now but im afraid a 2024 version will come out the moment I buy this xD
    I appreciate your video! You have no idea how much of a goldmine of information this is for me! My mission is almost complete! I will finally get my x13!!! Hopefully the perfect one! I appreciate all your detailed insights and this incredible review!

    • @crimsontechyt

      I had an issue with the first model i received: when I plugged in a device on the right usb-c port (the one with power delivery) while the XGm was connected, the device got a shock, and DIED. I had to test it a couple of times, and eventually it turned out to be a defective unit from the factory, so i just had bad luck.
      On this one it didnt have these issues, and i've never had problems since :)

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  Год назад +2

      Thank you :)
      It's only really worth it if you want a bigger display. (And it is quite a lot bigger)
      The tablet function becomes pretty much useless at 16 inches though, since it's also heavier.
      The Flow Z13 does come with 32GB, but that's only on the "Acronym" edition, which is alot bulkier than the standard Z13, and has a permanent weird thick pattern/case on it which makes it pretty unwieldy to use (not to mention that it's not really a laptop, since it has to support itself with an extra stand).
      In short: If you like bigger laptops, get the X16

      It's genuinely the best IPS screen I've had so far (which is why i was convinced it was a miniLED, like on the X16).

      Positives of the X13:
      - Smaller
      - Touchscreen

      @@crimsontechytThanks for the reply! :) I have two more things I'd like to know: which one has better battery life (if you experienced any significant difference) and better build quality overall (durability wise)? I'd like to keep it as my main laptop for at least 4 years without significant heating issues, broken parts etc.

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  8 месяцев назад +1

      @amineb9933 The X13 has SLIGHTLY better battery life, but not anything you would notice.
      I think build quality is also slightly better on the X13, but only because the display is a lot more flexible, and it's a bit thinner (so more compactly built), but again, not too noticeable.
      They're both very well built, and the points i mentioned previously have more influence.

    Hey bro, what about the Lenovo Legion 5 Slim 14.5 OLED?, I'm deciding between this and the flow x13.

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  Год назад +1

      The 5 Slim is a great machine, but it's heavier than the Flow X13, and not as well built. They're about the same in terms of performance, but the X13 is alot more portable (its also smaller), and more of a premium device. The Lenovo does have more ports, and obv OLED.
      It depends on if you think it's worth that extra money, if you think portability is an important thing :)
      If you're on a tight budget, I wouldnt recommend getting the X13 (unless you can find it for better prices)

    Hey there buddy,
    I'm kinda between this and Macbook Pro 14 M2 Pro. I'm photographer/videographer who loves gaming too. Do you think there is huge difference between screens?

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  9 месяцев назад

      The Macbook is better with HDR content since MiniLED has way higher contrast than IPS displays, but i think the difference isnt *that* big. If you like gaming though, i wouldnt go with a macbook, as (unfortunately) its basically impossible anymore to play 99% of all games (and the ones that do run, dont run great).

    I have 2022 model its not that good. It overheats alot and while playing games in normal mode it shuts down on its own. Sometimes while booting it shutsdown. IDK what the problem is ...

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  7 месяцев назад

      That's def an overheating problem. Normally chips downclock themselves when they're too hot to prevent overheating, but there must be something wrong with your cooling system (or a defect), that prevents it from cooling even a downthrottled chip.
      Do you still have warranty on it?

    • @Pranz99
      @Pranz99 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@crimsontechyt nope. So basically my laptop had a blue screen error. I gave it to bestbuy they sent it to asus for repair under warranty. They had to factory reset it. But after that also this issue is there. If i do gaming i do it in tent mode only. But sometimes this booting issue still occurs! Now the warranty is also over. Did i receive a defective unit ?

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  7 месяцев назад

      It could very well be a defect, Asus doesn't have the best track record on warranty returns and RMA...
      The only thing you could try is to do a clean Windows install on it from a USB, and manually install all necessary drivers yourself.
      If that doesnt work, i'm afraid it's a defect

      You do need to squint a bit or sit closer to the screen if you want to see further in bigger games. It's pretty hard to spot snipers in Battlefield 1 in those huge maps for example 🙃
