Great video! On behalf of ATV Corporation, thanks for your wonderful support and videos. we love Ralf's playing.
Thank you very much CJ, very glad to hear that! :) Are you the DJ/producer from Belgium?? :) KInd regards!
I don't know what's better... these drums or the drummer!!!!!! 🔥

Of course the drummer. He will be good no matter which drums you give him. The drums won't be as good if a bad drummer is playing :)
Great set! As for me, ATV is a likeable corporation, which puts edrums on a higher level. We need more companys like this :)
Efnote drums is coming!
I love these drums . I have been thinking about buying a set of electronic drums for sometime now but either way too expensive or made like crap ~ these look beautiful and sound great !
I've never been a fan of electric drums but this guy killed it. Nice video man

@@drumtecTV no problem man you are a great drummer
Really impressed with the sound, tone, and life-like resonance and action of these cymbals!! VERY masterful stick man.... Loved that he went old-school left side-grip on the jazz section, to make left notes more subtle! Will do more research and consideration on purchasing this set!
Thank you very much John! Have you checked out the "playing all kits" demo yet?

I’m seriously considering buying this set. It’s cheaper and better than the Alesis strike pro kit which is riddled with durability issues. It may not have all the sounds and features of the Alesis Strike pro kit but it about durability and kit readiness on setup. For $2000+ dollars I shouldn’t have diy pads straight out the box to make them last. This is a better option at good price point by a good company.
Absolutely! :)
This is how people should present and test a gear.Very good drummer push the limits of drums to maximum and short movie. After this you can really know what to expect of such a kit.
Blimey ! this sounds awesome !!!! also the drummer is a Legend ! best drumset demonstrator ever ! not the 480 bpm BS !
Thank you very much Maximus! :)
@@drumtecTV No Problem !
Could you please do a review comparising for the DTX400 line and TD-1DMK, as in which kit is the most bang for buck?
Sounds very good
I use a Roland TD20 KV but this module sounds maybe even better
Umm....wth is this? I am seeing this product for the first time and surprisingly, the modern rock kit sounds amazing!
The EXS series is ATV´s new "little brother series" of the ATV aDrums, built around the new ATV xD3 sound module. You can find more info over here if you like:

nun die Fragen aller Fragen, was ist für modernen MetalCore besser? Alesis Strike, Roland TD25/30 oder dieses schöne Stück? Würde mich sehr interessieren, wie die Pads von innen aussehen... die Qualität des Alesis hat mich immer vom Kauf abgehalten, beim Roland der Tom Sound... Das ATV macht den Eindruck, als könnte es das Drum Set sein, auf das ich gewartet habe...
Awesome sounds, the quality of ATV gear is just top notch. My Diablo snare is a work of art. PS, the playing is phenomenal too :)
Thank you James! :)

Great drummer to showcase!
Thank you rory! :)
Great sounding module
very cool kit, love the look and sound
Great clip. Nice set. Loved the background music at the beginning
Thank you very much for your positive feedback! :) KInd regards
Could you make a video with 2box module again? I think the last one didn't it justice. 2box is planning to release new sounds with the upcoming module so maybe then? you're doing great work and most of the times I just watch the videos to see Ralf's amazing skills rather than listen to the sounds :) Cheers!
Thank you for your kind feeback! Unfortunately, the drumit3 was not fully compatible with the Roland / drum-tec dual zone mesh pad standard, so we were not able to get cleanly separated head/rim triggering & finally didn´t do a video with it. We were told by the German distributor, that 2Box would be working on a fix for the problem, but it has been a year now since then sadly. Kind regards!
Sounds like this on a $300 module…!
You can buy this from Drum-Tec and have it in less than a week directly from Germany. For double the price you can’t beat the sounds maybe even triple. I have purchased three of these and sold two to clients. Be prepared for no onboard effects or individual pad tweaking. I bought an outboard effects box for $50 and it does the trick. Hey, for $300…wow!
Amazing drumming
Thank you very much! :)
Seems people are missing the obvious choice here.. This kit with a Pearl Mimic Pro unit. If the hardware is capable of more than the xD3 unit can deliver, you can effectively get a pro kit that's extremely responsive and sounds almost indistinguishable from an acoustic, but with all the perks of an e-kit such as compact size, multiple kits to cater for different genres and styles, and all for a much more reasonable price
that's fair and doesn't pillage our pockets. Considering the hardware hasn't really changed dramatically in the last 10 years or so, it's mainly the logic/units and sampling that's got better, this is where the bulk of your spend will be. Unfortunately not all of us can magically pull 5 grand plus out of our backside to pay for these high end kits, but end up with meager offerings that are inadequate.
Think a upgraded kick would be first thing I would change. The rest sounds good.
Hey John, we will be releasing an upgraded drum-tec edition of the EXS-5 kit in the near future, video coming up soon! :) Kind regards
@@drumtecTV Thanks for heads up, can't wait.
Great playing!
Thanks Ian! :)
This guy is insane
Sounds better than the flagship Roland crap!
That is why one can customize it as one likes it (and make impossible, like non acoustic 😂, sounding kits) and if one wants to get close to an acoustic kit, then there are Vsts.
Mann I just want to learn some of your hand and finger technics? Haha good video mann
Thank you, glad you liked it! :)
Awesome as usual! But please play it with some music as you do with the Mimic Pro
Hey Andre, thank you! Coming up next... :-D Kind regards!
Very nice hardware but the sounds remind me of my old td-11, this kit with a good module should be a beast
Hi, we will probably be pairing the EXS-5 with a TD-17 module & upload a video soon :) kind regards!
Yep I don't also like the sound of this set.
I think of Roland TD 17KVX drum ^^ it's very similar
Actually there are quite a lot of differences between the two kits :) But yes, they are both aimed at the same target group & are in the same price range. The ATV has bigger pads & cymbals, while the TD-17KVX has the more flexible sound module. Kind regards!
@@williamperri3437 Hey Bill, I personally prefer Roland sound modules for the superior triggering/playability & editing functions, not to forget the toms are dual zone triggers there :) But best would be to test both side by side yourself maybe. Kind regards!
I've been waiting for this video. Modern Rock kit has remarkable sounding, I think it can be a woth buying. Could you say something about the differences between D3 and D5?
Hey Akos, the xD3 basically is a stripped down aD5 with less functions/features. It plays very nice! You can find some more specific & detailled product info over here:

Hey there drum-tec, or anyone reading this, do you know if it is possible to make the foot splash function work on and xd3 module using a VH-11 hi hat? I can't seem to get it to work. Everything else works fine. Thanks for the help if you know!
Good question, it's been quite a while since I last played the xD3. You might get in touch through experts@drum-tec.de for further info, maybe the guys have an idea! Kind regards, Ralf
@@drumtecTV Thanks Ralf!
@@drumtecTV Hey I figured this out in case someone else asks. The HH Close adjust needs to be way into the negative then it works great. It doesn’t seem to adversely affect any other settings either. Mine is site to -18 and it works great!
Nice set! Pretty great samples
This or td17kvx? Which one do you prefer?
Hey Piotr, wow thats a tough question! :) both kits have pros & cons, both but kits are great in terms of price/quality. I would say the pads are way ahead with the EXS-5 (more sturdy bass drum, bigger pad diametres, bigger cymbal pads, more "advanced" look & feel than Roland PDX pads). On the other hand, the TD-17 might be the more flexible sound module with lots more sounds/functions. We will be demoing an EXS-5 with TD-17 module soon too :) Kind regards!
@@drumtecTV Ok, if that was though comparinson what abt EXS5 (+ TD17 module + drumtec sound edition) vs TD27kv? 🤔 Can you give a nice comparinson too? Haha Cheers 😎

:-D Thank you so much!
That’s true but I don’t think that this kit is garbage.
MarkuzP66 not what i said dude...
Great sound, but it dont have positional sensing. Its essential for realistic playing
Hey Mario, you are right, the positional sensing is a Roland patent & only available on higher level Roland modules. Nonetheless I think there are some nice sound module options without positional sensing, that also trigger & play nicely (ATV xD3/aD5, Roland TD-17, Pearl Mimic Pro). Kind regards!
Bought this kit. It's mega class. Could ye help me with something though? Dunno how to get a rim click from it....
As far as I remember, you´ll have to activate the cross stick sound in the module. KInd regards!

Espectacular sonido
Hallo!

I like the sounds and price of this module but I checked Drumtec and it's not mentioned how many trigger inputs and whether they are all dual zone or not..Could you specify that? Thnx
Hi, the tom inputs are only single zone (while the pads themselves would work as dual zone pads with a Roland sound module f.e.), snare is dual zone with rim click / rim shot as shown in the video. All ATV cymbals do have two connectors, so they could work as a three zone cymbals with two connections (ride), with one connector they will be dual zone (crash/Hihat). With the EXS-5 kit setup, the xD3 module is completely maxed out & has no more free trigger inputs. You can see all in-/outputs on the backside picture of the module:

Does this set works with Roland TD 27 module? I hope you'll release an EXS - TD 27 combo set in the near future.
Hey Jeffre, yes it will work! But the ATV EXS snare pad won´t have positional sensing functionality. We will definately come up with a kit like that some time soon :) kind regards!
@@drumtecTV O, what about DrumTec's "inhouse" drums? Will there be a kit with TD 27, especially the Jam series?

@drumtecTV would you be able to add 1 more cymbal? Thanks
Hi guys
I have a quetion about which edrums to buy:
Alesis strike pro se or a atv exs 5 with a 2box drummit 5 mk2 module
I really dont like roland drums because of the tom sounds and machine gunning also the pads are too small
Rather going for a more realistic looking and feeling set
Do you have any other suggestens
Oh and i want to play in an apartment so it should be kinda quiet
I bought this pad kit from Drum-tec for use with my Strike Pro module. Can not get the kick to quit double triggering. I have tried everything. (been playing edrums since the 80s Simmons) tried crosstalk/threshold/dynamics etc. And a bass drum patch. I think the kick just has too much bounce and the legs dont hold it firmly. And I am not a heavy player. Any suggestions?
Hi, have you tried increasing the retrigger value in the Strike module? The bd pad works without any problems with Roland & ATV modules, if you adjust this parameter. If there are any further problems/questions, please get in touch through service@drum-tc.de directly. Kind regards!
You an DIY this set (well a close copy). buy a Kd-120; (2) PDX-100; and a pdx-12 floor tom off ebay or Reverb. sell the (3) pdx-8 and kd-10. Add to your TD-17kvx.
What kit are you using to get that cross sticking? I can't figure out, my is not doing that.
Hi Dan, the cross stick function can be activated in the module. Please refer to your manual how to do it, the xD3's menu is rather simple to use. Kind regards!
@@drumtecTV thanks for replying. Yeah I figured it out. But still when I turn it on, I loose the rim shot. Is there a way to have both at the same time?
@@DanThompsonbateria Hey Dan, I am not sure if the xD3 does this, have you checked the manual yet? On a Roland module, you can actually define a rim shot threshhold value, when the cross stick is active. This way, you'll have cross stick articulation on the rim until a certain dynamic level, and then rim shot when you exceed it. Kind regards!
Hello I recently buy this kit but the rim shot doesn't work. What have to do?
Hi, if you had purchased your kit from drum-tec, then please get in touch through info@drum-tec.de directly for further assistance. Kind regards!

I don't understand why these companies try so pain-stakingly hard to replicate real drums when there is such a thing as real drums. That said... it is pretty awesome! I'd love to have an e-kit (don't tell my friends though:))
Hey Todd, generally speaking: noise & flexibility :) many drummers just don´t have the possibility to set up an acoustic kit (noise), in addition to that an electronic kit is much more flexible sound wise & doesn´t need dozens of microphones & an acoustically well treated room for rehearsing/recording. You don´t need to change heads & retune / change cymbals if you need another kit sound for a different music background. And you have the possibility to work with external sounds (midi) as well. All in all, working with a well playable electronmic kit is pretty great in many ways :) Kind regards!
You're right! I get it. It's just I'm a bit of a purist and I fear a day when acoustic drums become obsolete. I hope I didn't offend. The drumtec is a marvelous product! I'm truly impressed!
I suppose I can't even label myself a "purist" any longer for I'd just purchased a TM-2, an e-kit amp, and two bass drum triggers as a little helper to my acoustic bass drum. So keep on truckin' my friend!
@@toddheeter9075 I guess that day will (hopefully) never come, many drummers actually use both (e&a kits) for different situations. It´s comparable to pianos: an e-piano plays & works fine & is silent, but I guess most players would keep their grand or upright piano nonetheless for the playing experience & "physics" :) Kind regards!
Is this kit able to be hooked up to Addictive Drums/Superior Drummer etc?
Thank you. :)
Yes man, as long as it can send midi signals to the computer (which it can) you don't have to worry about that.
is the dynamic level is as good as the ad5??
The xD3 plays really nice & has some well working, basic trigger setup settings, but in general it is a "stripped down" aD5. So it has less functions/features and the trigger setup is a little less detailled than with the aD5 (which is not a bad thing really). Kind regards!
@@drumtecTV what about the feel of the ride cymbal?? Does it feel natural??
@@JahidulIslam-dl9bo The ride cymbal is a 16" ATV artist cymbal, which is the same series that come with the bigger ATV aDrums. Those cymbals are available in 10"-18", are fully Roland compatible, have a 360 degrees playing surface, the ride has 3 zones & is chokeable. Has anyone got an opinion of the ATV 13" kick drum vs the Roland KD-140 kick drum?
Hi Stan, KD-140 is about 3 times the price of the ATV :-D so the more appropriate comaprison might be with the KD-120BK (which also is almost double the price of ATV). The ATV pad is much more bouncy in terms of rebound, the KD-120 & 140 have internal dampening that reduces this. Hi, unfortunately there are no brush sounds on the xD3 sound module & no brush sweep support until now. Kind regards!
What brand and name of this drum??
It´s all in the video title :) ATV EXS-5, kind regards
Too bad that it machine guns :( The cymbals sound spectacular though!
It would only need a few more sample versions on each of the velocity layers, so it wouldn't machine gun this much. Funny, it's been Roland whose modules were doing this, now they seem to have eliminated it on TD17 even on the toms as well. Too bad ATV couldn't get it right first. (BTW, weren't the sensitivity values set too high during the test?)
Hi, you are right, there seem to be no alternating round robin samples in the module. "Machine gunning" has nothing to do with the sensitivity settings in general though, it just might be more obvious if it is happening in the top velocity layer, where the samples have the most attack. Machine gunning occurs on every dynamic layer from pp to ff, but might be less audible in more silent regions. It generally happens any time you play a roll or any repetitions on the same instrument & dynamic level. The dynamic trigger settings need to be set up for your individual playing style meanwhile, so you are able to reach both the lowest & highest possible dynamic levels (the xD3 has an optical velocity indicator in the display to help you do this, which is nice). Kind regards!
