    The fact the color matches a acoustic kit makes this extra appealing. You can buy the acoustic bass and put a trigger on it to make the kit look bigger. I think a Yamaha was smart to do this.

      Thank you very much! I mostly use a setup like this for studio work:
      ruclips.net/video/F8iciO7ENcA/видео.html
      That's a drum-tec pro series kit (which has the most authentic playing feel I have yet experienced, especially the Real Feel bass drums are outstanding), hooked up to a Roland module/Roland cymbals triggering external libraries like Toontrack SD, SSD5 etc.
      For live, I also wouldn't hesitate to use a similar kit setup with the Pearl Mimic Pro module:
      ruclips.net/video/k1jf3ysRp0M/видео.html
      At my slightly smaller home studio, I am using a slightly smaller drum-tec diablolo ltd. kit :)
      ruclips.net/video/bWRvrgJVFSo/видео.html
      Again, in combination with a Roland sound module/cymbals & external sample library sounds.

  • @cosmicprison9819
    @cosmicprison9819 9 месяцев назад

    I noticed you hit the button on the module before playing the cross-stick sound. If you don’t push that button, is the default rim sound a rim shot? I’ve heard this model struggles distinguishing between rim click and shot. Then again, so does my current Roland TD-9 (I had to mess with the sensitivity and the threshold where the rim click MIDI note changes to the rim shot MIDI note).

      Hi, I recorded straight from the stereo output of the module without any further mixing/editing. I think there are two versions of the Yamaha kits, one with mesh head snare (like in the video) and one with the TCS snare:
      www.drum-tec.com/yamaha-dtx8k-x-tcs-head-set-real-wood-incl.-live-sound-edition
      Haven't had a chance to play the TCS snare yet unfortunately. Kind regards!

    Let me start by saying I am a BIG Yamaha supporter, across the spectrum. This kit is probably the best sounding kit Yamaha has produced. With that being said...the sound it produces is nowhere near the accuracy or fullness of Roland. Not in the same neighborhood. Not in the same town. Congrats to Yamaha for stepping up their E-drum game.

    • @scorchwhammin
      @scorchwhammin 3 месяца назад

      LOL…you obviously are a Roland fan..just admit…Ive played both..both kits have their pluses and minuses..but the Yamaha’s do sound more like real drums IMO😊

      Both kits are nice, but very different. Best would be to try them out side by side to see which playing feel you prefer. You might also throw in the drum-tec Jam NG series as another option, which is compatible with Yamaha DTX PRO and Roland TD-17 module:

    hi, i am undecided between this, the roland vad306 or the efnote 3x, any advice? thank you very much

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  Год назад +1

      All three kits are nice, yet very different. Best would be to test all of them side by side at a musicstore that has them all available (might be tough though, especially EFNOTE I guess).
      It also depends on what features/sounds you'll need in the first place / what kind of musical styles you'll mainly be playing.
      EFNOTE module has just a bunch of kits, that all sound very natural/unprocessed and kind of vintage/oldschoolish. They're nice for jazz/funk/blues/vintage pop rock). Yamaha has a lot more processed and also FX sounds, the Roland TD-17 might be the most flexible with a lot of drum/percussion & FX sounds. (You'll find comprehensive sound demos of all modules/kits on our channel btw)
      Still, all of the kits' pad setups feel completely different physically speaking, so it's really tough to give a non-subjective advice on this.
      And then, there's even more options :) as you can get any compatible custom kit configuration from drum-tec (all drum-tec, Roland, ATV & EFNOTE pads are 100% compatible, only EFNOTE hihat isn't).
      Feel free to get in touch through experts@drum-tec.de for further assistance and/or an individual quote including international shipping anytime.
      Kind regards!

    Hey Ralph, what are your thoughts on the kick tower KP90 from yamaha?

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  2 года назад

      As far as I remember it worked well, but playing feel was far from a real bass drum :) the problem of all affordable bass drum pads is, that their materials result in pretty high volume & unrealistic playing feel (like ROland KD-10 also).
      I'd always recommend to invest in a really nice bass drum pad, as this elevates your whole kit on another level in my opinion. Depending on what module you use, you might pick a drum-tec diabolo Real Feel or the ATV aDrums bass drum for most authentic results. KInd regards!
