For those that want to know about the import of Samples!
    Import Limit: 1,000 files
Maximum loadable sample time: 50 minutes 40 seconds (44.1 kHz, 16 bit, mono), 25 minutes 20 seconds (44.1 kHz, 16 bit, stereo)
    sample format: WAV
    Yamaha DTX Pro X
    User Voices:
In addition to the internal voices, you can import audio files and play them as user voices.
There are different ways of importing audio files.
Importing audio files to trigger inputs:
Import an audio file by specifying a pad. All input sources play the same wave.
Importing audio files to trigger input sources:
Import an audio file by specifying an input source. Each input source plays a different wave.
You can also specify the desired layer: A, B, C, or D.
Importing audio files to click timings:
You can assign the audio files you like for click timings such as accents and quarter notes.
With these operations covered above, the waves are automatically assigned to an empty user voice, creating a user voice that produces sound. The user voice can be used for other kits and user click sets.
    Importing to User Voices:
You can import up to 10 audio files into each user voice.
However, multiple waves cannot be played simultaneously.
Set the velocity range to each wave so that you can play a different wave in response to the strength of each strike.
If the velocity range overlaps for multiple waves, the wave with the lower number will be played.
Changing the way a user voice is played (one-shot or Loop):
Generally, the user voice stops after being played once. To repeat playing the user voice, set MENU/Kit Edit Voice/VoiceHoldMode to “on.”
With this setting, the wave starts or stops playing each time the pad is struck.
    Editing and auditioning user voices:
When auditioning sounds with the [Speaker] button on the MENU/Job/UserVoice/VoiceEdit screen, only one-shot play is possible and the sound is played at a fixed speed.
    No effects will be applied.
By assigning a user voice to the kit, you can change the playback speed, apply effects or play sounds by striking the pad.

Also wondering about best practices for building custom kits with third party wavs or even self recorded wavs. You can't set different velocities if you're just uploading one wav sample for a pad so how does that work? This is probably the best demo I've seen of this kit, great stuff!
My only concern is between this and the Roland TD27 since it has better sensing on the Hi Hat and Snare. I prefer the on board sounds of this I think (since they're all real) and the aesthetic (for video and streaming), but I want to be sure I can do all the nuanced snare and Hi Hat stuff like proper cross stick & rim shots, snare ghost notes, Hi Hat being able to properly trigger triplets and subtle changes in the opening of it (I like to have my Hi Hat by default slightly open for that trashing sort of sound and be able to close it for that ticking sound, can it do all that properly?).

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  10 месяцев назад +1

Thank you very much! Roland triggering is superior to the Yamaha, especially hihat & snare triggering is way more detailed. On the other hand, the Yamaha module has some really great sounds, while many do not like the Roland TD-27 onboard sounds that much. You can check out several TD-27 demos on our channel too if you like. Kind regards!

Ralph Justin said that the sounds are really not any different than the GTX 6, how true is that? I mean I'm sure there's more sounds and it's probably a little bit more expensive but how much better really is the actual module, Ralph?

Hey William, you can find detailed info on the DTX Pro module (which comes with the small 6 & the bigger 8 kits) and the DTX ProX module (which comes with the biggest 10 kits) over here:
      www.drum-tec.com/modules/yamaha
There are differences in features/in-/outputs etc, also the DTX ProX has some sounds that the DTX Pro does not have, but as far as I know it is not too much difference. Still, both modules have some onboard kits in common, some are different.
You can listen to our sound demos here & compare if you like:

:) the kit plays/triggers nicely out of the box. Yet it's hard to compare as the Yamaha/Roland modules sound so differently & some kits in the Yamaha module seem to react more natrually than others. Best would be to test both kits side by side so you can really compare playing feel/rebound etc for yourself, it's pretty hard to describe in words honestly :-D kind regards!

I own the dtx6k2-x. From what I hear it's the same brain basically. One thing that I have trouble with is the hi hat adjustments. The foot splash is very difficult to trigger naturally and the dynamics of the open to close is very difficult to get it to mimic the sound and feel of an acoustic. If you notice his demo at the beginning of just the hi hat you'll see what I mean. Plus you just have to hit it quite hard to get that dynamic response from it. Wonder if anyone else has this issue

I love Yamaha drums (acoustic) and I admire what they are doing here but it’s like “Roland-esque”, nothing being brought to table, maybe the outputs of the TD-50 but with sounds of lesser quality than the 27? For 5k, the VAD 506 is a better deal with the digital snare and ride. Too much “rat-a-tat-tat” on the snare and toms here for 5k. It’s like Yamaha copying a dish already being served by Roland. I am waiting for EFNOTE 7 to launch!
