Aside from the fantastic playing, those kits sound amazing for an electronic setup!
Thank you very much Michael! :)
Jheez, I've been looking at the TD17-KVX but this kit has changed my mind! Awesome playing!!!! Thank you for the solid video.
Thank you very much! :)
Looks like the same kit as the TD17KV with shells. Does it play better? Is it worth the upgrade and cash for extra hardware?
@@mhathaway35 I'd go with the VAD306 only because you don't have the tom pads with the stupid white plastic ring on the inside... And, honestly, the VAD306 is much more appealing to the eye
@@MichaelDionneDrummer Yeah this kit is an obvious winner, though the 17 is still a nice kit for the price seeing as this is almost $1000 more. Though yes it’s definitely go with this
such a cool set, and killer playing as usual

Had this set loved it ...
Ralph, you are truly a secret (or not so secret) weapon for drumtecTV. I find myself coming just to watch you play, which further makes me want to look into these products.
Hey Ryan, thank you very much, happy to hear that :) Kind regards!

Outstanding work as always .The range of flavour in sound from the VAD306 kit along with the other VAD kits is so authentic to acoustic drums its amazing. I’m so stoked to unbox and set up mine once it arrives . It’s a great time to be alive as a drummer people.
Thank you Scott!
drumtecTV you welcome.
@@drumtecTV do you know if it’s worth spending the extra to get the 307 over the 306? Thanks
@@willsdrumcovers401 Hey Will, I do prefer the new cymbals over the older more "bulky" ones, especially the new CY-14R-T is great as it is also a little bigger than the older CY-13R.
On the other hand, you could probably get a 306 custom configuration from drum-tec with an even bigger CY-16R-T ride instead of the CY-13R for about the same price as the 307. The module upgrade will be available from Roland some time later this year as far as I know.

Excellent demo. Still don’t understand why Roland can’t make better demo videos when they’re the ones that make these products. Cheers!
Thank you very much! :)
How loud is it with out headphones? Asking for my neighbour
I was looking into this set, but couldn't justify the price premium over a TD17 KVX. If you go over 2.5k€ you just get a TD-27kv...
OOOOOOORRRRRR a Drumtec Diablo!
OR a drum-tec Jam series in between ;-D Kind regards!
I dont' disagree. Love the Silver Sparkle Diablo! I had inquired as to the price and I received the following "offer": $2,930. This included the 5 shells, 1 Ride (CY13), 1 Crash (CY12), V10 Hi hat TD17 Module with Live Sound Edition. Ok, doesn't include hardware and the 2nd CY Crash (12) I thought but love this kit. When I got closer to purchasing, I had to of course add in the taxes and custom fees (around a good $150). Total: about $3,261. For me I wanted the 2nd crash and had to buy some, not all hardware; raising the price further. I live near a stated that does not charge sales tax. So, won't have to pay taxes, as well as the shipping and of course the Custom fees, which is why I will be buying the VAD 306. Finally, maybe it is me but was a little skittish about spending that kind of money through paypal or bank as well as the whole shipping process. Still love that kit though.
Im dreaming also to have like that but we cant really afford any way its soo amazimggg🥰🥰🥰♥️♥️
Can we add a bigger ride cymbal like a cy-18dr?
a question, what hihat pedestal could i buy for this kit (roland td17kvx) because it is too high becausd of the sensor, now i have the the dw3000 stand but the hihat is still very high, help please

Hi Jason, yes indeed, the TD-27 has features & flexibility! Kind regards
Anyone know how loud the bass drum is? When struck, does it sound like an acoustic bass drum, or like a bass drum trigger pad like we've seen on some of the other Roland kits.
Hey Isaac, the KD-200 basically is a Roland KD-9 / KD-10 pad mounted into a bass drum shell, making it the most noisy bass drum pad available with a very hard rebound. You can check out our bass drum noise level comparison over here, the Roland KDA-22 basically is the same thing as a KD-200:

So while playing you see the wear on the cymbals; how do they keep up over time?
You can wipe off the stick marks with a damp cloth, you can also use this to make cymbal pads look like new again:

I really love this kit! But I'm just wondering if this kit can be recorded in different tracks in DAW for different mixes just like recording like a real drum kit?
Hi, the Roland TD-17 module that comes with the VAD306 only sends a stereo audio signal through USB and has no direct outputs neither. You'd have to step up to a TD-27 module for more flexibility/options for example:
www.drum-tec.com/roland-td-27-sound-module-incl.-live-sound-edition
Kind regards!
@@drumtecTV thank you!
Bummer! I think that's a deal breaker.
The first kit played, Studio Jam, is it available via download from Roland? Or is it a Drumtec exclusive kit?
Hey Rocky, this is a Roland stock kit, which comes with the VAD306's TD-17, but is not yet available otherwise as far as I know. It might be part of a (future) firmware update for the TD-17 possibly. Kind regards!
I am from Sri Lanka. How much is this drumset?
Is shell pack just for aesthetics or does it actually affect the sound?
It's an electronic kit, so the shells don't affect the sounds that come from the module. They may affect the acoustic sound of hitting the pads though, but other than that, it's mainly for aesthetics
Hello and thank you for your demo. Is it possible to use a rack with this drum to find more space, because I have a small room ? And if yes witch one ? Last question: is it the same size or place needed than a td 17 kvx ?Thanks.
Sure, you might choose the drum-tec diabolo rack system for example, or a Roland MDS-Standard possibly:

Anyone thinking about this set with pearl mimic or alesisis strike module instead td17? No digital inputs, no positional sensing for mimic and strike, looks like ideal for this pads! That would be perfect small set with acustic look with brutal sounds. Is there anywhere to buy vad306 without module?

Hi Ralf,
I’m thinking of buying this kit but I wanted to know - would a cy16 and two cy14s fit comfortably onto this kit since even with smaller cymbals it seems very compact?

Hey. Im really interested of buying this one, becuase they say it feels more like am actual acostic drumkit compared to the td17-kvx. Im still torn of wich one i should go for. Suggestion? Feelwise of the drums etc. Thanks / Tony
Hey Tony, have you also considerewd the 100% Roland compatible drum-tec Jam NG series:
ruclips.net/video/McH1VaHNOvs/видео.html

I just played this at guitar center and the high hats wouldn’t do the open sound from a closed position and the bell on the ride wouldn’t work. Is this fixable or is the kit not able to pick up these details?
Hey Mitch, I guess the kit was just not set up correctly :) that's a pretty common problem in many music stores unfortunately, the guys working there just won't do their job properly sometimes when it comes to setting up the e-kits in the showroom.
The VH-10 hihat does a great job & so does the 3-zone ride when everything is set up correctly (as shown in the intro of the video). Kind regards!

Can I download/purchase the drum-tec kits or do they come with the module? (If I dont buy the kit from drum-tec because I am in Canada)
The drum-tec Live Sound Edition only comes included with the module directly from drum-tec. But there are several other Sound Editions available as a download for the TD-17 module:
www.drum-tec.com/modules/drum-tec-sound-editions

Your way of playing sounds incredible. How do you record your drums with the mac?
Thank you very much Ben! I feed the stereo output of the sound module into an RME audio/midi interface, which is hooked up to my Macbook Pro running Logic Pro Audio as DAW. Pretty basic to keep it as neutral as possible :)
Btw, you can find more drumming/music & sound demo videos on my private channel digitaldrumming too if you like:
www.youtube.com/@digitaldrumming
Kind regards!
how would you compare this kick drum to the one that comes with the td27 ?
Hi Jason, the TD-27KV comes with the KD-10 bass drum pad, which basically has the exact same beater area as the KD-180L (making both pads rather loud). Both Roland KD-200 & KD-180L have this KD-10 beater area mounted into the shells actually, so while these bass drums are obviously a lot more stable than the KD-10 (which is rather shaky), they are even louder and have a rather hard rebound/playing feel.
You can find a comparison with our drum-tec Real Feel bass drums over here:
ruclips.net/video/J9Ig12wXESQ/видео.html
It's possible to get any custom kit configuration from drum-tec, so you might for example go with a Real Feel bass drum or a KD-120BK, which is also a nice option. Feel free to get in touch through service@drum-tec.de for an individual quote incl. international shipping. Kind regards!
Is it possible to add sounds from the TD-50X to this TD-17 module? or using a notebook?
Hey Fabio, you can only swap out the TD-17 module for a TD-50X or use your midi out to trigger sample libraries like Superior Drummer in your DAW / laptop. Kind regards!
So you can use a double kick pedal with this Roland VAD306 electronic kit? I thought I heard that during the metal part of the video clip. If so, which pedal is it? I'd like to get this kit but I always use double kick pedals un my playing style. Please let me know. Thanks.
Hi, you can use any double pedal on the Roland KD-180L bass drum, although for this demo I only used a single pedal throughout as far as I remember :)
www.drum-tec.com/hardware/pedals
Kind regards!
so this set doesnt come with a stand for the high hat or snare? also it doesnt come with a kick pedal?
Hi Robert, right almost all e-kits come without these more individual hardware parts, so every drummer can pick the hardware which is best for his needs. Feel free to get in touch through experts@drum-tec.de at any time for further assistance and/or an individual quote on the kit including hardware if you like. Kind regards!
My drum riser is 54" deep, would this fit and still have room for a 6'2 drummer?
Hey Chris, it might be a little short in depth. I used to have a 1,5m x 1,5m riser, which worked pretty well. But you need this space to have enough room to place your throne behing the kit without sitting too close I guess. Kind regards!

Are these worth the cash? I have an older model of Rolands. I want a set that looks real. I am tempted to buy these. Just don't wanna waste my cash if I end up not liking them....
how about TD27kv? comparing with vad306 ?Which one do you think is better?
i think the shape/appearance of vad306 is much more cool, but for the function e.g. the snare and ride, td27kv seems more professional
what do you think?
I have the vad 306 and have used the td-27 in the past. I think it depends on what you are looking for. In terms of functionality, sound quality....I’d go with td27....it’s a much better module and overall will be the better choice if you’re not bothered by playing an electric kit that, well looks like an electric kit. The vad306s module is great and gets the job done...it’s the td17 module, it isn’t the best...you’re essentially sacrificing sound quality for aesthetics....I went with the vad306 because the added weight to the “full sized” kick drum and the looks help you forget that you’re playing an electric kit....much closer look and feel to an acoustic set. But that’s where I’m sold...I can get into the pocket easier with the vad because I feel like I’m playing a set that I’m accustomed to. Dunno if that helps clarify anything
Qual é o espaço que preciso para montar uma bateria dessa? De forma confortável mas sem ocupar muito espaço.
Hey Renato, about 1,5m x 1,5m, kind regards!

Great looking drum controller that im sure is fun/comfortable to play - but i gotta say Roland have really not upgraded thier sounds in quite a while and are really starting to fall behind products like Superior Drummer 2/3... Now if you were to combine the two and use this kit as a controller for Superior Drummer then you would have something really cool :)
No problem to go midi out from the module! Have you checked out the drum-tec Silent Studio Sessions yet, that do feature sounds from Toontrack & Steven Slate:

@@drumtecTV Yeah i know man - thats why i suggested it! lol - My point was/is Roland has not impoved thier sounds in years!
would you recommend this or a td-27kv?
You can actually get the VAD306 with the TD-27 module or any other custom kit configuration from drum-tec too:

You might also want to check out the 100% Roland compatible drum-tec Jam NG series electronic drums, which has a more authentic playing feel and a less noisy bass drum pad (both the Roland KD-10 and the KD-180L are very loud):

@@drumtecTV drumtec is much more better option in my opinion
Vad 306 triggering is awesome.. it has 3 cones negating hot spots on the snare and floor tom
Does this snare drum have positional sensing ? It does not seem like it
Hey Kevin, no it doesn't, the TD-17 module does not support positional sensing neither. Kind regards!
@@drumtecTV hi - one more question - if I bought this set ? And decided to use a “Pearl Mimic” module with it ? Would I get positional sensing in the snare then ?
@@KevinZ2269 Hey Kevin, generally speaking all Roland pads will be compatible with Mimic Pro, but the module also has no positional sensing. Have you checked out the 100% Roland/ATV/PEarl compatible drum-tec diabolo series yet:
