That's an awesome clothesline! You make it look so easy to install!! My husband was a little Amish boy until age 7... then his parents left the Amish church. He still has lots of Amish relatives...great people! They are in the Ohio Amish community..Holmes County.
We have pulley clothesline that attached to our house and go to one of our trees in our backyard! Boy that’s a real heavy duty system you got! That’s great! Dave wants me to check out the skyline system! He was impressed! That was a great video! 👍👍👍👍 Thanks Doug and Ashley! I have a laundry basket that belong to my mother in law that is cloth and folds up. I made a new cloth bag for it out of Denim. It has a place for my clothes pins. It’s nice to repurpose things that belong to other family members! 👍
This is the same type of system we used on my grandparents ranch in the 1950's. Worked well and holds a lot of clothes. Your instructions were so clear. Thank you.
Great tutorial and I LOVE IT!!! Cloth or plastic lines end up sagging HORRIBLY especially when drying heavy comforters, rugs, blankets, etc. You guys will have that line till well after the children are grown! Great work! Save money on laundry expenses as well as utilities for the long haul! Great job! God Bless ~Lisa
Ok I had to smile & giggle. You brought a memory of long ago.. Long comment. You see I love a clothes line. At our first farm 37 years ago. My hubby used our trees to hang my clothes line. I didn't like it because of the birds. With that said he said if you want a clothes line that is where it stays. He also connected it to our house. I had just hung out 3 loads of laundry & a bad thunderstorm struck. I could not get my clothes down. We was standing in the enclosed back porch. Lighting struck that. ONE tree. It ran own & around that coated clothes line. Caught the wooden clothes line pins on fire & blew them off one at a time. The clothes fell in order. I just stood there laughing. He said I don't know what the hell you think is so funny. Now you have no clothes line.. I said yes that is right. But the 2 huge trees you used are split down the middle & are both on fire.. The corner of the house is smoking too.. Moral of the story at our new farm house several years back. HE has hung my new clothes lines on metal iron posts.. Thanks Doug & Ashley.. You two bring such happiness to me. From South West INDIANA..💖🇺🇸😁😄
We live in Arizona. If you have just a small backyard and don't have a clothesline and are paying electrical or gas costs to dry your clothes, you should consider this, or a smaller version. Heck, just put a hook from one point to another and run some paracord and you're done. There's nothing better than the smell of clothes that have been sun dried, especially bed sheets.
I remember my granny had one like that when i was a kid ....She could hang the clothes right from the back pouch where the washer and ringer were ... us kids used to help ... sure do miss those times ........and my dear granny ... nice job Doug .
The first time I even saw an Skyline pulley clothesline was back then when you lived in your old house and showed it in one of your vlogs. It's definitely a nice invention
By far the most well built and complete long lasting clothes line kit I've ever seen. Well worth the money, don't waste your time trying to track down the parts at local stores you'll just waste your time and get frustrated ending up with junk foreign made pulleys and cheap cotton line that sags no matter what. Very easy to install especially after watching these videos
I have been hanging laundry outside for most of my life and really enjoy it year 'round. For the few days in Winter that are not good for drying outside, I use one of those folding wood racks inside. I checked the Skyline website and plan to purchase one soon. For the installation instructions they used YOUR VIDEO from last year! Doug does a great job showing how to install this system.
It's funny because we didn't even know our video was on there website until this year when we went online to look at them. We were so honored by that we wanted to make a better one and this was our chance. We think it turned out great. It's a win win because we get to support an American business and create good content for our channel. (We hope they use this one)
Yes, last year's demonstration was very good, but this new one is excellent! It shows more closeups and goes into more details. Thank you! I believe it will help Skyline sell more clothesline kits. I like that they are an American small business.
That is a big money saver! People don’t realize how much it cost to run a clothes dryer. When we had our 2 sons at home 30 yrs ago, we shut the dryer off for one billing period. We were shocked to find out our dryer cost $30 a month to dry our clothes. I’d hate to think what it would be now. Great investment in that practical clothesline. Phil
I found your channel because of internet searching for pulley clotheslines. I love my Skyline ... my husband and son-in-law followed your installation instructions. 😊 The biggest bonus is all your videos! Always look forward to the next one! Love and blessings from PA!
The crazy old neighbor lady has asked me to put up a clothesline for her like this and I've been messing with different pulleys and trying all kinds of different things for a month to try to get it right. I'm about to order her one of these and be done with it! Thanks for sharing.
Hey good morning Doug and Ashley are you guys doing today hey I'm still proud of you guys they should be able to put your stuff on the on the clothesline at least I guess have a good day and Jesus loves you guys keep up the faith bro hey I'm keeping I will pray for you everyday sometimes you got to sacrifice are you guys have a good day God bless
Well done Doug & Ashley....excellent instructive video. :) Something else to possibly consider... a cap (galv' sheet-metal?) on the top of the post could prevent water from soaking in there and possibly causing the timber to split, and I'd remove the sharp upright corners on the post.
I chuckled to read your comment in that I stared and stared at the 4x4 that holds the one pulley on our system and thought how bare it was. I put a solar cap on it! Great minds! 😊
Your video about the Skyline pulley clothesline kit could not have come at a better time! We plan to replace our clothesline within the next month. Your suggestions will come in handy, thank you.

Aluminum doesn't rust. I don't think you could go wrong with either one. The aluminum one will probably outlast the poly pulley. They are both very long lasting.
So I’ve binge watching for weeks now. And originally you went by a different name. So I’ve noticed when Ashley says the new name “out in the country” she’s kinda Giggling....?? Like it’s kinda funny for her to say the new name. Is that what I’m seeing you do???😄 it’s cute. I love this “show”.
I want to use this to hang bird feeders on -- can I install the line at an angle? (one side 4 feet higher than the other?) I want to hoist the feeders higher in the air, than pull them down to replenish. BTW - great instructions, thank you.
We use regular wooden clothespins. Any regular clothespin will work. The clothes stay put even in wind if they are pinned well. Also the main pulley has a built in lock to stop the line from moving. Just turn the handle on the pulley to lock it in place and it will stop the wind from moving the line.

Great video again! Thank you! Next video is a small chair so Ashley can reach the line or will you be doing the laundry Doug? 😂 Keep up the Good videos 👍🏻💪🏻
It's a little lower than our previous clothesline and Ashley managed that one fine. I do plan on building a small platform(think pallet) and laundry staging area to stand on when hanging laundry to keep the ground from getting muddy so we had that in mind too. That will be a future project :)
Zinc plating is galvanization, it's the same thing. We don't own the pole and you are not allowed to attach anything to them unless it's related to the electric, phone, etc.
@@diyfferent In Australia we hook everything on a telegraph pole if it is in our yard. I worked in the fastener industry for years, zinc plating is galvanizing but only just above raw steel. "Heavy" galvanizing is a dull finish, and better suited if you are in a heavy snow, salt, or rain environment.
It's actually a fence tensioner and can usually be found online or at farm stores. You may have to drill out the hole to accept larger diameter cables like this.
Wicket, I hope there is no tree hugers out there lol couldn't see very good, I hope your wife can reach the line, I no you will help her for sure. Love it :)

👍👐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👏👏👏👏👏🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞 Good day! They do not know how pleased I am to see their videos! I see everything wonderful they do. All homework repairs. Here, in Uruguay, we say, rope for clothes or stalls, to what you did today in your video. But ... ours or most people's, it's very simple, with only a wire rope or sturdy plastic rope. It is very simple, from one pole to another pole, with only one rope, and with an iron pipe in the middle, to be able to lift the rope. I like the clothes stall you have more. I find it very useful and do not have to walk from one end to the other, to hang clothes. With that stall, it's easier to hang clothes. A question? What season of the year are you in your city? Here in Uruguay, it's autumn. He sent many greetings from the city of Canelones. Many blessings for you and your home.
Yea, this clothesline is great, you just stand in one spot to hang all the laundry. And it will last a very long time. :) The season we are in now is spring. It has been a chilly spring so far, we hope it really starts warming up soon. Thank you
Clothes get stiff on the clothesline because of the leftover detergent in your clothing after washing. You can try cutting back on detergent or adding some vinegar to the rinse cycle to help. A windy day can also help soften them up. Usually they just need a good shaking or fluffing to get them loose again.

Why the difference in elevation in the pulleys instead of being level?
We just didn't want the clothes too close to the ground. It's supposed to make taking them off the line easier since they kind of roll back to you.
Really nice set up. hate to ask price of that. lol the extra hole for the bolt was great idea ty..

Beats the dryer all the way to the bank!
Have you experienced any issues with tree sap or droppings from the tree on your clothes?
Nope :)
Do you use special, tight clothing pins? Do you think the wind may push the cloths downhill?
We use regular wooden clothespins. Any regular clothespin will work. The clothes stay put even in wind if they are pinned well. Also the main pulley has a built in lock to stop the line from moving. Just turn the handle on the pulley to lock it in place and it will stop the wind from moving the line.
Great Job!

and what happens as your tree grows???
You have to keep drilling holes in it every year and lower the line?
It was an old tree and any growth that low wouldn't be noticeable. Doesn't need to be redone each year.
Tree trunk does NOT get taller. It does NOT grow “up”, it only grows “out” or “fatter”
Drive pulley supports will NOT need to “redone each year”
Is the tree not still growing? Won't that increase the distance between your pulleys over time?
It would be so minor I don't think it would matter, but that tree is pretty old. The tension could always be adjusted also, if needed.

"Heavy" galvanizing is a dull finish, and better suited if you are in a heavy snow, salt, or rain environment.
why was attaching to the tree preferred?
Because it was already there and a strong, tall spot to attach the pulley.
Where can I get that line tensioner to buy?
It's actually a fence tensioner and can usually be found online or at farm stores. You may have to drill out the hole to accept larger diameter cables like this.
I like very much yours vídeos
Will Ashley be able to hang the clothes? Ashley's got news for you! She cant reach it. 😂 I subbed.❤
Thanks for subscribing! I can reach it fine, I love it :)
Wicket, I hope there is no tree hugers out there lol couldn't see very good, I hope your wife can reach the line, I no you will help her for sure. Love it :)
Always wondered how that works
I just discovered your channel and after browsing thru your video list I feel like I don't know where to start. Some channels give their videos episode numbers. Are any number of your videos relevant to one project which would be easier to follow from the start of your project to the finish of said project?
You can watch all of our videos in chronological order if you click on "Videos" and then click "oldest". We also sort our videos in Playlists if you go to the Playlist tab. www.youtube.com/@diyfferent/playlists
👍👐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👏👏👏👏👏🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
Good day!
Thank you
Out in the Country 👍👍👍👍👍👋👏👏👏👏👏👏🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌹🌺🌸🌻🌼🌷😉
Hello, is your 6x6 post 10 feet long or 16 footers?
10 feet. We set ours 3.5 feet in the ground, so 6.5 feet is above ground.
@@diyfferent Thank you very much for taking the time to reply! Setting up our clothesline tomorrow hopefully.
Cool clothesline
Ice job, thanks!
When your clothes dry are this not like stiff or crunchy ours use your be when I was growing up I hate it glad i I' have a dryer
Clothes get stiff on the clothesline because of the leftover detergent in your clothing after washing. You can try cutting back on detergent or adding some vinegar to the rinse cycle to help. A windy day can also help soften them up. Usually they just need a good shaking or fluffing to get them loose again.
Can you tell me the name of that product?
It's all in the description :)
