    I loved your video.. the only reason I might choose Minky is because it won't rust..Of course the Veiled may not rust either.. I would be interested in another review once it has been in use for one year. I rather liked the idea of being able to remove it and take it indoors so it doesn't get wet. Lots to think about.

      I've had my two Viledas hanging outside for at least five years. The still work fine. No rust or UV damage.

    I had the Minky one for over eight years and it was always left out throughout the winter. It was eventually killed by a careless tradesman swinging a concrete fence post.

    Hi Dan. Thanks for sharing.
    I bought the Vileda one after seeing your video. I removed the rivets that were holding the wall cleat to the unit so that I could take it indoors when not being used. Vileda should change this so that you can easily remove it from the wall like you can with the Minky one.
    I use a 5mm allen key to fix it back on to the wall when I need to use it. One thing I did notice when fitting, is that the wall plugs they supplied were too large for 6mm drill bit. they just bent when I tried to hammer them into the wall. I ended up using the Rawlplug 6mm plugs and they were fine.
    The distance between my side wall and the back garden fence is about 5 metres so I put a second hook on the wall and run the line to the first hook and then back to a second hook that was placed around 3 metres to the side of the unit. This easily gave twice the line length if needed.

      Erm...the keyhole slots in the mounting plate are there so you can just slip it on or off the wall in a second, you're not meant to tighten them right up when fitting.

    • @racl1954
      @racl1954 Год назад

      @@ianclarke4182 Hi Ian.
      I do realise that, but getting the screws in exactly the right position to be able to lift it on and off the wall is very hit and miss.
      I was careful but it was still not going to work as intended as my drill holes were not spot on. I ended up taking the plate off of the unit by removing the rivets and using a long 5mm Allen key in the slot to hold the unit on the plate. That made it very easy to remove when needed.

    The fault on them is the plastic underneath where you tighten it , after about a year it snaps and its scrap .

    it's better to dry your washing out side, then you will not be making it damp indoors, I just leave the washing line, i situ, but have it, so that you can hoist it up a lot higher.
