It’s tricky, there can be an overall key of tune, for that, usually the key signature can help a lot. But within many jazz tunes there will be more local modulations to other keys. If you’re familiar with the chords that can be built from a major scale this can go a long way in understanding the harmonic progressions. It’s not the whole answer, but I would start there.

Thanks! I use a Selmer Super Action Series II Sax, SR Tech L85 Mouthpiece, Vandoren Java Red Strength 2.5 reeds with a Rovner ligature.

In the minor 251 progression u have a c# in the min6 chord. But the key of Emin has just the f# in its key signature. It’s confusing to me.
