I'm sure most of the people following him didn't know his true nature. And those who do are either too stoned or too scared to do anything about it. As far as everyone else is concerned, he was just some powerful guy they can rally around. Few of his followers like Visas knew what he really believed. Few knew the man behind the mask, not that many people even saw him face-to-face. The most they see is just another powerful guy reuniting the empire they once served.

If Kreia' words are any indication, the remnants of Revan & Malak's Sith Empire rallied under the Sith Triumvirate with the sole purpose of destroying the Jedi. _"For them, it's all that matters. All that ever mattered..."_
They didn't actually care what Nihilus, Sion, Traya or even Vitiate hiding in the Unknown Regions would to the Galaxy. All they cared about was destroying every last Jedi. Once all Jedi are gone, as Kreia herself states, the galaxy would be theirs one way or the other. They could topple the Republic entirely or do an Exar Kun Meets Palpatine and control the Senate from the shadows. "Oh, so our Sith Lord can and will eat a few planets? Whatever, so long we can rule the galaxy in the end..."
It's also important to note that Nihilus could at least communicate in some manner to pass on commands, such as he did to Visas Marr in their introduction scene, and his talks with Sion. Whatever his true intentions were, he COULD at very least convince people to join him through telepathy as well as deceptively claim he was Darth Revan 2.0 creating a New Sith Empire. As eldritch and lovecraftian he might have become, he could still address people on a human level, if only to lie to and use them.
I mean, just look at Vitiate/Valkorion/Tenebrae. Many know that he's an Omnicidal Maniac, yet they still follow him because they equate him to a God and believe his genocide won't include them.

Nihilus was, in every sense, the embodiment of the Dark Side in its purest, most primitive form. Without any humanity or motivation to guide it, all he has is the greed, hatred, pain, and yawning empty void in his soul that nothing can ever fill.
On the surface, he's everything that the Sith want. Looking deeper, like Traya said, he's a walking insult to the Sith as he's let himself become nothing but a puppet of the Dark Side itself. I can see how he got so many followers despite being a world eating abomination. And why even other Sith fanatics opposed him. Besides the obvious self-preservation, of course.

    • @yaujj65

Like the exile, they are a walking wound of the Force. The difference is that the echo forcefully put into his body whereas the Exile chose to abandon the Force. While he is a darksider, he is no Sith as he wish to merely satisfy his hunger and instead seek freedom by taking control of the Force. No matter how powerful he was, he is still a slave to his hunger. And to Kreia, it was heretical to her as true strength is abandoning the Force and rely on your own strength without relying others

If I was a sith personally I'd have to side with Darth Sion. Nihilus was, would you believe it, a bit nuts. Sion had an actual plan to wipe out the Jedi and rebuild the empire. His plan was similar to that of the rule of two except instead of a bullshit flimsy organisation that took a thousand years to do the job and then lost, Sion's sith almost managed to wipe out the entire Jedi order in only a few years.

Not only that, Nihilus, Sion and Traya were only leading the surviving Sith Empire left behind after the jedi civil war because at that point they were the only Sith Lords strong enough to be in the running after having fought and defeated the competition. They had small splinters of what was once a powerful empire that spanned almost a third of the known galaxy at the time, reduced heavily by infighting, and losing to the Republic at the Star Forge.

Because that is who and what the Sith are. The whole crux of Sith ideology is the selfish and endless pursuit of power: economic, political, military, and of course, power in the Force. Anything and everything that might get in the way of that goal is either a weakness or an obstacle, up to and including logic, restraint, and rational thought.
There's also the effects the Dark Side have on the mind: it functions much like a strong addiction to a narcotic drug, creating psychological and physiological dependency and a desperate craving for the next big high. Once you get a taste of that sweet, sweet Dark Side and the power it brings, you want more, NEED more, and after a while you just can't bring yourself to stop: there's nothing but the chase for more power.

@@gordonf5553 yes the exile did who u play as in kotor 2 but they became able to use the force again by essentially siphoning it from their companions, she's the inverse of nihilus except she cut herself off to survive malachor yet still feeds on it low-key whereas he embraced the hunger and it now devours him afyer also being present at malachor. His attempt to feed on the exile is what allowed his defeat as it weakened him greatly, since he basically tried to feed on a void

4:27 - you showed the wrong Interdictor. This one is an immobilizer from the Galactic Empire era.

Meanwhile, the Sith and Eternal Empires from TOR are also the most brutal and depressing... to the KotOR fans and Mass Effect/Dragon Age: Origins afficionadoes, at least. That's what happens if you're among the blandest, cliched, and all too unoriginal factions of Star Wars (and video gaming) as a whole, all while being the reason for the decline in gaming quality for a certain third installment and the existence of two unnecessary sequels for a supposed standalone title.
