First time I played this was at Cedar Point in Ohio in 1982, the year it debuted. The machine was inside of a building in the middle of a camping area where you could park campers and RVs. Took me years to find the game again in my local area.
The ability to continue is kind of nice; I used to play this game for *hours* at a time on the Return of Arcade port for PC. Unfortunately, this doesn't work on my 60 in 1 cabinet, but I guess that makes it more challenging to have to get the scores yourself on one set of lives.
I've heard you can continue if you turn it on in the settings menu, and then when it goes back out to the menu, go right back into the same game and it'll work.
I just got an all original Dig Dug as a trade for fixing a Dragon's Lair/Space Ace, down to the big blue cap. Was the original coin door panel painted black or vinyl? The person that owned it before decided to spray paint the coin door and the top gloss black.
You can accidentally lose of life by dropping a rock on yourself what I like to do is I dig a dead-end tunnel and I go out to a rock to hold it and quickly turn around to freeze a monster but I get out of the way before the rock can kill me and Dig Dug has been seen in the mr. Driller series love games Dig Dug II came out in arcades for Japan but we got an NES Port release in America license from Bandai
@@LyonsArcade you are cruising on a road in a car that can grab fruit fish soda and money bag you use one joystick to control the car and another joystick to grab food items the game was created by SNK Electronics in 1983 and license to centuri the game was singing on starcade and that's not all of it it's a great idea but it's unfair due to the narrow roads and the object of the game is to reach home after you eat the food you can drop it in the trash cans for extra points but in the later stages there will be on traffic unfair turns and you have a fuel meter and you need to grab gas cans 4 extra fuel and that's all I can tell you
Mr. Do was around the same time, yup. It was kind of the first big 'kit' game that you could put in other cabinets. They had a dedicated one too though.
There are some little dip switches on the gameboard, they look like little light switches, there will be 2 rows of them SwitchA should have 1 OFF, 2 OFF, 3 ON to get it on 2 quarters
Sorry for all the comments.. but do you know where I can get the original joystick and buttons (including the volcano type buttons)? Thanks in advance!
Man the only place really to get the original stuff is to buy it used, they were on most of the Atari control panels. You can get just the volcano bezels from www.ArcadeShop.com .
Lol watching you play that Is painful . Hints : after dropping two rock you get the fruit ! Do a long tunnel up to a rock so when it drops they are trapped in tunnel!. Only take on one or two at a time . Also you can just pump them up a bit to slow them down so you can drop a rock on them . Hope this makes you play better lol .
I love playing this game. Can't wait to see more of your videos, and I love stopping by the shop
Thanks Jamison, we'll see you next time you stop by!

I'm not a huge fan of this one. Love the cabinet though. Did Mr Do come out around the same time? I find that game far more engaging :)

Superb design.
Yeah they really had it tuned in at Atari there for awhile....
What a masterpiece!!! 😍 But why at 6:08 the 5th place score is the higher one? 😨
Wow Daniele, I didn't notice that.... not sure what that was, must have been a glitch or something in the memory that saves the high scores!
