I’d say Model railroading is alive and well. So good to see another generation of Americans carrying on the hobby. Very articulate and well spoken narrator .
Bro, this is an amazing layout and it’s mild compared to some of the stuff out there. I’m talking layouts worth hundreds of thousands of dollars or more!!
Unbelievable! I'll bet there are short lines that have a shorter length of trackage than the ACTUAL length of rail in this incredible layout. Thanks for showing it, and the link to (I assume) an operating session video.
Would love to be working an operating session on this layout. Very nice clean layout. Tons of scenes too. Scenery is fantastic. Bravo to the owner of this layout. Background scenery fantastic. Thanks for sharing .
Amazing layout. Thx for sharing. Guess I wasn’t crazy for painting the walls baby blue, and printing & cutting out background buildings galore back when I had my layout.
May I suggest that you pan slower. That serves two purposes: 1) the viewer gets a chance to view the whole scene and 2) the camera can focus properly. Additionally, you may want to consider being more sequential and slow down. Too much panning ahead and then going back. Prepare a script for the next times and you'll produce a much better video. On a positive note: the attention to detail is phenomenal. Kudos to the builder and railroader.
I’ve been model railroading for over 35 years and never have I seen such a well put together model railroad, I can’t find the words to tell you how I feel about what I’m seeing. FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!
The level of detail on this layout is amazing! Working on the real railroad for 20+ years, missing details on model railroads really standout to me. Extra details standout too; all the signs, signals, culverts, debris around industries, really makes a difference.
wow! my dad is using his HO trains again. after 30years of being unused, and he feels like a little boy while watching them go... I just showed him this video for less than 5 minutes, because it's pretty late lol and we really thought this was a museum! Congrats on this amazing video and layout!! I have no words!!! my dad was pretty impressed too! he just couldn't believe it! greetings from Mexico!
The amount of time, effort, and dollars involved defies my grasp. I have no idea how one person, even with some help can pull something like this off. Surely is impressive!
Gentlemen! This is art! The monumental effort, vigilant attention to detail, painstaking patience, and vision of it's future completion is inspirational.
Thanks for this Josh. During my trip to the US in 2015 , I was very lucky to be invited to Mr Parker's house to see this wonderful layout. John is a true gentleman and Fall River is an amazing railroad and it was a highlight of my trip to the States. Cheers Gregg.
Awesome video Josh. I fell in love with this layout when I saw Mr Houston, another RUclipsr, show it off during an operating session. But it's soooo much better to see it in depth without the operators present. Good stuff man👍🏿💯
Thanks for the kind words, though all I must give all the credit for this one to John and his friends who have put this together. Have a great week! -Josh
@@Joe___King yes try typing in BNSF fall river, you'll see 3 or 4 videos by Arthur. I like Josh's because it's without the operations, Arthur's was during. All good stuff 😊
Is there any caboose or locomotive rides available of this layout? I am like a kid at Christmas morning right now. I have been a real locomotive engineer for 29 years and I absolutely hate real trains, but have always had a passion for model rail.
Lots of nice details. Super-elevation on the highway bridge @4:35, a pair of wind turbine blades @4:47 (do those track well on a 36" R curve?) and even a few cabeese. :D The red one @ 4:25 is probably MOW (?), but many of the others still bear green and yellow paint. Nice to see those. And then what I think might be a quarter mile of welded rail cars @5:46-6:14? And then the scale car and Hi-Rail (that's an old Model Railroader project, IIRC) @7:33. I could go on and on.... Just brilliant. All of it." Face it, Sam.... We're lost. :D Send in a St. Bernard....
I was fortunate enough to operate the welded rail train during the Rio Grande Historical Society Convention a couple of years ago. A spectacular layout that ran as good as it looks.
I ran trains on the V&O of Allen McClellan. his layout was set in western Va. Close. I Began in the late 70s and ran there into the late 90s. His layout was even more detailed than this. Allen focused on lighting as a very important part. Considering this was over 40 years now. I miss those days. so much fun. BTW, Allen was made a MMR. Master Model Railroader.
G'day from Australia....I'm attempting to model the same BNSF era but I am not worthy to see this ...OMG this is impressive.. I love too how you have explained John's work and I thank you for displaying this magnificent layout for us mere mortals to enjoy ..THANK YOU..
As amazing as this layout is yours gives me so much inspiration. Unfortunately, I don't have an entire room to dedicate to a layout but I do have a shelf.
10:26 Next to the grade crossing theirs a Defect detector box. I am re starting an N scale layout and can't find anything like that. Any idea where they got it from or if there's one in N scale. I don't mind if it works or not, just for looks!
It's an inspirational layout but I groan when I think about the number of hours and dollars that have been spent getting it to this stage, but as we all know that a layout never really gets completed, there's always something that we want to change.lol. Credit to it's owner. Looking forward to seeing the trains running on this layout.
Extraordinary !!! Impressive by its size, endless corridors ... Incredible the amount of locomotives and wagons. Dream decorations ... Is it open to the public? Where is he ? Again my congratulations. Be well from France
Really, a marvel for its dimensions and its operational options. It has a good and clean design. But surely the program to operate that layout will require a lot of people; unless it's computerized. Congratulations!!!!. I really enjoyed it. Thank you and greetings.
Truly a well designed and build model railroad. Very realistic for this 'big' one. Seldom seen this kind of detail and well done vistas. Thanks for sharing and commenting. Greetings from France. Filip
I have seen some really good layout in my life but this one really takes the cake! You guys have really done a fantastic job on detailing this layout. Where is this located? Can the public come a visit it?
I really enjoy viewing these model railroad videos. I'm amazed, as are most folks, with the details and effort put in to making them look so realistic. Sure makes my under the tree train I have look "dinky"! Someone mentioned the expense of model railroading. I guess this money could be spent on other things but, we all need a vice, right? Mine is 54mm toy soldiers. A similar hobby that can run into some money. Very nice setup on this video.
That was excellent! On the arthurhouston3 RUclips channel, Art has a 3 part OPS session video series from 2017 where he pilots a coal train from the mine to the power plant, meeting various other trains along the way. It's a great series of videos on a heck of a layout!
Just amazing, I am humbled by the amount of $'s that went into this behemoth of a layout. So detailed you just keep looking for what you missed the first pass. Great work!
Amazing, just great. I love all the weeds and grass. What were the cards sitting on various locos in the staging yards? Still wish you'd just have a train or two run through on these tours.
Great video! I love the scenes at the bridg and the switching movements! The angles you shot the video from are very good! Thank you for posting the video!
Enjoyed the video. Well done! I have seen some done by Aurthur Houston(?) in 3 different parts showing the layout in under construction stages. It is nice to see the layout in a more completed stage. Wish I had the room for a larger layout. Thank you!
Fall River sounds alot like Fall Bridge wich is the line that goes through the Columbia gorge and mountains up there in Washington. It's also owned by BNSF.
Wow Josh, that is an amazing layout. Thank you for getting him to allow you to film it and taking the time to video it and share it with us. Please let him know that you are still getting rave reviews of the layout and try to convince him to do a RUclips channel. Is there a track plan for this layout? It was so big and with the mushroom I kept getting lost too like the cartoon said.
I’d say Model railroading is alive and well. So good to see another generation of Americans carrying on the hobby. Very articulate and well spoken narrator .
I am amazed at how well the terrain blends in with the photographic/wall background. It's flawless.
I had no idea model railroading could be this extreme. Holy crap this is impressive.
Michael Taylor search for „Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg“ on RUclips. Thank me later :)
someone is saying "my dad spent my inheritance"! lol This is freaking awesome, glad we got to see this. Thanks to the owner for the share.
The begging city background looks like Kansas City, went there a bit ago and the background looks so similar (prob not in KCK)
Bro, this is an amazing layout and it’s mild compared to some of the stuff out there. I’m talking layouts worth hundreds of thousands of dollars or more!!
Very Impressive

What a great layout. Simply inspiring and really enjoyable to watch. Clint
Clint, inspiring indeed. I know that we came home with a few ideas for our own layout after seeing it. Take care - Josh
OMG!!! Incredible and more than just a layout. The cost has got to be in the Millions. Thx for sharing.
Amazing layout. Thx for sharing. Guess I wasn’t crazy for painting the walls baby blue, and printing & cutting out background buildings galore back when I had my layout.
Felt like you walked around this thing for 5 minutes in the beginning! Nice.
Fantastic video! HO railroading looks like it still takes space, but not near as much space as 14th scale RC models!
My mind is blown. Totally speechless. Definitely want to see an op session on this layout!
OMG! That's just beyond incredible. just .... WOW......
Amazing, but I keep wondering how these layouts are always so clean and free of dust with all the small detail everywhere
Nice job, looks real.
just beautiful ;-) greetings from Holland (the Netherlands)
WoW.this is Great Model layout
Very cool layout! Well done.
This is something I watch when you are eating dinner alone
Simply amazing! It would be a true pleasure to participate in an ops session on this layout!
Awesome layout!
Crap....I need a bigger basement.
May I suggest that you pan slower. That serves two purposes: 1) the viewer gets a chance to view the whole scene and 2) the camera can focus properly. Hello! very nice layout . Thanks for your video.
I would love to do a OP session on a layout like this.
Someone has a whole hell of a lot of free time!
Steve Warren : and money.
looks a lot like the BNSF/UP mainline that runs from Kansas City to Salt Lake City
Neat layout!
That sage paper recycling center boy I've hauled many of those bales I hate it lmao
Is there any detailed night videos of this layout?
what scale of the road cars is used since HO is 1:87 do they use 1:64 Matchbox ?
Wow !!!!!
Does this layout have a u tube channel
I’ve been model railroading for over 35 years and never have I seen such a well put together model railroad, I can’t find the words to tell you how I feel about what I’m seeing. FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!
@Comoda why does his age matter
The level of detail on this layout is amazing! Working on the real railroad for 20+ years, missing details on model railroads really standout to me. Extra details standout too; all the signs, signals, culverts, debris around industries, really makes a difference.

maripunk175indiegirl greetings from New Hampshire, USA.
Oh what the hell. 2 yrs late but hello from Alabama, Rocket City.
The amount of time, effort, and dollars involved defies my grasp. I have no idea how one person, even with some help can pull something like this off. Surely is impressive!
This is one of the most incredible layouts I have ever seen! I'm really liking the content on this channel!
28:12 love the Boeing 737 fuselage on the flat car...I want one
I wonder if it's the same scale.
Gentlemen! This is art! The monumental effort, vigilant attention to detail, painstaking patience, and vision of it's future completion is inspirational.
The forest sections and that rather broad river crossing--absolutely STUNNING
I would love to be part of an operating session on this layout. Looks amazing
Ye
That was spectacular. I felt as if I was viewing a museum, not a layout. Very, very impressive!
WOW. Just... wow. That big trestle into the mountain is amazing.
Thanks for this Josh. During my trip to the US in 2015 , I was very lucky to be invited to Mr Parker's house to see this wonderful layout. John is a true gentleman and Fall River is an amazing railroad and it was a highlight of my trip to the States.

Do you have the link for that video Jason Ellis? I can’t find it

wow, cant put into words how fantastic your layout is. thank you for sharing kind regards Al😊😊👍
This is the best model train layout I’ve ever seen and it’s huge

15:20 found Bigfoot
Seen him.
The welded rail train is unbelievable. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes and someone told me it existed, I'd of called them a liar
I was fortunate enough to operate the welded rail train during the Rio Grande Historical Society Convention a couple of years ago. A spectacular layout that ran as good as it looks.
This is an amazing layout. Extreme amounts of love and detail were put into this layout. Thank you for sharing this with the world.
That layout is truly spectacular! One of the best I've ever seen. Your tour was great too!
Made my day, really enjoyed it. During the first bit with the bridge, my wife thought it was real. So Awesome.
This is absolutely incredible! WOW. I can't imaging the time (or money!) it takes to make something like this. Incredible.
Amazing video man! I love the narration! This was excellent fun to watch!
In America everything is Big, just like this layout. Very big with lots of details and great finish. Stefan from Europe.
What is the name of the opening (and closing) song!!!!!! I love it and can never find the name of it
Fantastic Work - I really like your description and walk-through too!
ALMOST HEAVEN...WEST VIRGINIA. -ik this probably has nothing to do with WV but those mountains at the beginning reminds me so much of it lol
I ran trains on the V&O of Allen McClellan. his layout was set in western Va. Close.

That railyard brings a whole new meaning to "I got the power!" Energizer would be proud.
Does the video say “Something went wrong” for anyone else at about he MRL interterchange segment ?
espee cascades yes
Yup
@NSmodeler24 ?
Sorry about that! It seems to work ok for me and a few other friends who've checked it. Sorry!
once you reach this level, what else is there to improve on?? it gets no better than this!!! thanks so much for the tour.
G'day from Australia....I'm attempting to model the same BNSF era but I am not worthy to see this ...OMG this is impressive.. I love too how you have explained John's work and I thank you for displaying this magnificent layout for us mere mortals to enjoy ..THANK YOU..
Amazing. Thanks for the tour Josh.
This was truly an amazing graphic & technical marvel project, masterfully executed!!!
Stunning system....love the bridge scene
Johns Layout is such a huge inspiration. I could spend days admiring the detail and amazing work he has done. It honestly leaves me speechless.
As amazing as this layout is yours gives me so much inspiration. Unfortunately, I don't have an entire room to dedicate to a layout but I do have a shelf.
OMG! I've never seen a layout like this one! Can you give me a general idea of the size of it? Never have i seen such realism! I'm just speechless.😮😍
I believe it is roughly 3000 sq feet in size! Agreed! - Josh
Damn! If he didn't have block detection, he would completely lose trains on that layout!
Absolutely stunning. I watched this with my jaw dropped. Good narration and explanation. WOW!
10:26 Next to the grade crossing theirs a Defect detector box. I am re starting an N scale layout and can't find anything like that. Any idea where they got it from or if there's one in N scale. I don't mind if it works or not, just for looks!

The attention to detail is amazing. The rust on the bridge joints, it just amazing, all the little details
Extraordinary !!! Impressive by its size, endless corridors ... Incredible the amount of locomotives and wagons. Dream decorations ...

(Just another little detail)
This is extremely beautiful
After seeing this, I really wanna get back into model railroading... I'm gonna start designing a layout while watching.
Glad to hear it! If I can help in any way, I'd be happy to. - Josh
Incredible!......An amazing experience it would be to run trains here. The rockwork in the mountains, the bridges, the industry.......wow,just Wow!
I'd love to see more tutorials on CATS. Beautiful layout.
I have a complete series on my channel about model railroad signaling, including CATS! If you have any other questions though, let me know! - Josh
Cost of this was probably 3.4 million dollars?
Fall River sounds alot like Fall Bridge wich is the line that goes through the Columbia gorge and mountains up there in Washington. It's also owned by BNSF.
This layout completely blew my socks off! I had paused the video several times in awe of the details! Just a Superb Job Done Here!
What’s the overall size of the layout? Or should I say basement in this matter?
Layout, basement plus time and wallet!!
Love, Love, Love!!! What an awesome layout!
When i see a model from a Model Train Store i'm like 'wow'
BUT THIS just took it to another level
