One thing I forgot to add was eating the Vietnamese food here. That coffee shop I went to does an amazing bowl of pho for less than $2. I was too busy trying to film to eat anything that day haha.
It just hit me that its been 51 years since I was in Vietnam and there are folks in Vietnam who did not experience the war and only know peace. I was so blown away on how things look today. Xin chào 😊 I really love Vietnam, their culture is rich and wonderful. I'm always into traveling and music. Hope I'll get to visit Vietnam someday, have to work hard and saves money. Love from Malaysia 🇲🇾
I’ve been traveling to Saigon, Phu Quoc, Vinh Long, Vung Tau, Da Nang, Dalat Vietnam for the last 5yrs. A beautiful country with great food and people. The cost of living is so cheap! I definitely recommend it!
Hi sorry! Just saw this. I made a whole video about finding an apartment in Saigon. It explains everything! Feel free to check it out and let me know if you have any questions.
Hi Everyone, Have a good morning and have a lot of health. It's great to come to Vietnam. Vietnamese people also love your ideas, foreigners, Hope everyone will enjoy. understand and life will try to live more widely. We also really want to get to know foreign friends, exchange is also very easy. Thank you very much everyone.
Da Nang has beaches unlike Saigon. That's a good reason to move there. I passed through there going to Hoi An back in December. It was raining and cold. I could see the beach from the highway all empty of course since it was raining and chilly. Those businesses by the beach probably got wifi which would make a great place to work from for those who work during day time hours. Will make lots of people envious to see someone working with a laptop on the beach.
Wayne Samuel The weather is perfect now! Not too hot, not too cold. I hope you get a chance to visit again during a better time in the year. Haha I guess I'm bringing my laptop to the beach today! :)
It's Goldilocks weather not too much of either hot or cold but just right. I was there for 11 days starting in Hanoi. stayed at Ha Long Bay one night.. went into the underground caves. Continued on to Hue stayed there a couple days then traveled down a mountain road near the sea..stopped off at a rest stop where it was windy and freezing. Then passed Da Nang on the way to Hoi An and stayed there a few days. Then went to the Da Nang airport and took a flight to Saigon. Stayed there a few days. Visited the Mekong Delta. So many regions for a slim looking country. Met up with a Vietnamese friend I chat with for years but first time we met at Highland Coffee. Then met another friend who had to come escort me to cross the street due to incessant traffic. So that's my second time to Vietnam in two years. Like the Chef Anthony Bourdain says there's something about Vietnam that makes one say "I must return." Yeah you should post a picture of you working on the beach with a laptop with the caption 'This Is My 9-5 Only Thing I Only Work a Few Hours a Day."
Wayne Samuel Wayne Samuel haha "Goldilocks weather" yes. It's very surprising how much diverse landscape Vietnam has to offer. I love it! By the way, I'm totally going to take that picture on the beach and steal that caption. :)
Lol good for you..take the caption..maybe you can print that on T-shirts and sell like some vloggers do to make money for their channel. I read your comment on Philippines. Yes, people are friendly and tend to speak English.. Speaking English helps them find jobs around the world so it's an incentive to learn English. You did not say if they recite a prayer on the ferry before they take off. They usually do.
Haha I will if I ever make it that big! Thanks :) I believe it's like that all around Asia. If you speak English, you will be more successful or something. I heard that there were so many Philippino dialects that English is a common language for everyone. I was sitting at a coffee shop and listening to these two locals have a business meeting and it was like mostly in their language with some English words every now and then. Interesting. I do not personally hear a prayer on the ferry, but I'm sure people were praying. A couple of our ferry rides got really wavy and crazy!
Ken Pha where’s the hypocrisy? I simply point out he got caught. I never said I wouldn’t, so way to put words in my mouth. I just wouldn’t get caught, it’s not like she was subtlety videoing
well, what guy WOULDN'T look as she walks by...don't have to be a teenager either...actually the cam wasn't on the kid long enough to see that his reaction was at all unusual, IMO--I don't think his mouth was "gaping", it was just a routine look
Vietnam is the best place for anyone wanting to fill up their experience. If you have a chance to visit Vietnam, let's try Egg coffee and coconut coffee. Enjoy your life ^^
So didn’t know any English back in pre k(I only knew how to say “what”) and I grew up speaking Vietnamese with my family and a few years later I got used to speaking English but I noticed I didn’t have an accent compared to my mom, then again, she spoke Vietnamese for half of her life
Olivia Hates Life Yes, it can be risky to have your phone out on the streets. I made a video on common scams and things to look out for there. I was lucky to never have an issue, but my boyfriend's phone got stolen by someone on a motorbike one day. Besides that, we had an amazing time and I highly recommend people visiting and living there!

Great video. I love how 7 a.m. is getting up early for you. It's sleeping in or having overslept for me. My day starts between 4:30 and 5:30 every day. Occasionally I get up earlier if it's a busier than normal day. I love Vietnam but I'm heading to Moldova. Low humidity long mild summers and short mild winters.
I am also an English teacher both for vietnamese students and korean srtudents.. But how can you possibly use a cellphone for teaching.. is it allowed by the company? or are they your private students? I ve always wanted to travel jus like you..

Hi Allison, Just found your channel! I am an expat living in the domincan republic and also taught for a year! I just started my own channel to document my experiences. you have great videos!
I have watched many of your videos and you do great presentations. I like your delivery. You are simply adorable and I can't figure out why you don't have 100k subs. You have one of the most underrated travel channels that I've seen. Just sayin'...
southbound1969 aw thank you so much! It makes me so happy to hear that people like my videos! I'm still new to this, but I hope to keep getting better and appreciate your support along the way :)
I am interested in teaching english on line and I will study vietnamese also because I've been to another country didnt know the language ruined my whole trip
I was living like this for a year and i can tell you guys, it was awesome!! Its impossible to live like this for a long time, but you should do it for a short time!
* 7am in Vietnam is not early anymore :)) * I mean, if you already go out to do your workout you could of saved money on the delivery :)) that adds up over time. If they have free delivery then that's fine. *Rent a place that has a washing machine lol, makes things easier.
*it’s somewhat early for someone who doesn’t start work until 3:00pm *delivery is free :) and I don’t like the outdoor pollution. *This place I only stayed at for 1.5months. In Saigon I had a washer/dryer as I stayed there for a while.
That sounds like a great time... but I have a question. What do you do for health insurance and retirement? You appear to be in your early 20's. This seems to be the life style for someone that is established. Trust fund?
David Swenson That is a very good question. Unfortunately, no trust fund, but I am under 25 so I am still under my father's health insurance. However, international health insurance isn't too expensive here. As for retirement, I haven't thought that far yet. Living in Vietnam has allowed me to save up lots of money. Hopefully, if I keep working, I will be able to save up a decent amount. I have no idea how much you would need for retirement though.
Alison Linh trust me...dont think about retirement at this age. You are doing the right things...just travel and enjoy life because this is the best time of life. Enjoy to the fullest instead of thinking about retirement. Now I am heading into my 50s and I wish I had done all the things you are doing now. Be free and enjoy life while you can.
Nice Alison, great to hear you teach English there. As I said to you before I'm going to Vietnam in spring I think. I'm also an English teacher in Georgia, (the country next to Russia, not the state, haha), I've been teaching English here in the Georgian public schools in the villages, incredible experience! Never taught online though. And actually I'm going to Vietnam for the culture, the people, the food and of course want to go to the beaches in Da Nang! I'm fully retired now(other than having some private lessons with University students in Tbilisi, where I live now). Anyway, I see Da Nang is very mellow, very cool, that's what I'm looking for at this stage of my life, so thanks, cheers once again for you videos! Simple, nice, mellow and easy to watch and enjoy! All the Best to you and Jake! Ken
Thanks Alison, I think I'll love it there as well, we'll see! I've been to many places, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Cuba, Nicaragua, Spain, Netherlands, Iceland, just to name a few....here is a link for beer commercial I did recently here in Tbilisi, called 'Old Irish' a new beer by Natakhtari Beer here, in it that's me singing or should I say 'moaning' few lines from the song 'Nothing Compares to U', then after barman pours beer you can see me toasting with other guys to the beer, I'm wearing purple plaid shirt, goatee and not much hair, haha....it's only 40 seconds long but took hours to film cause the barman, my friend Willem can't sing, and the Georgian guys around me couldn't remember the four lines we had to sing, plus different camera angles, etc., was fun to do though and since this commercial won awards I've done four others and also starred as the only foreigner in a Georgian movie, not much money, but a lot of fun working with TV, movie people, here's the link, enjoy: ruclips.net/video/5HYtDuz_KfI/видео.html
Really enjoyed this video :) I'm teaching in Europe at the moment but I have a lot of friends in Vietnam who have been begging me for years to go join them in "paradise" as they call it :) I'm heading there next year so videos like these are really useful!!!
Thanks for this beautiful amazing video. I was born in DN and watched this video made me miss home. Keep up the good work and I’m glad you like Da Nang. From Florida, Tuan Le
Alison Linh, Where do you live now? I’m doing good in the States but I wish I could be in VN right now. Just out of curiosity, are you mixed because of your last name!?
Tuan Le Currently living in Seattle right now. I love it here as well, but a part of me will always call Vietnam my home. Yes, I am mixed. My mother is Vietnamese. :)
Alison Linh, I could see that beautifully innocence Eastern looks of you. I was going to Da Nang for a cousin’s wedding and visit my grandparents in June but it changed. I was hoping to go back soon and adventure the Ha Giang’s loop.
Her prices are same and sometimes cheaper than Kathmandu, Nepal. Manicures and pedi is double the price in Kathmandu for tourists, and the laundry cost is about the exact same. Beer in Kathmandu is about $5 a bottle.
There are more people in economically developed countries than Vietnam. Want to live in Vietnam, work and travel. The cost of living is only about one fifth of that in their home country, good service, cheap food and Vietnamese Love peoples from the West, A person from the English speaking countries can earn income by teaching English to Vietnamese, easy to make money in Vietnam, work is always priority for them. I do not know why
Vietnam ditched the fiscal communism with "Doi Moi" back in 1986, North Korea didn't, with the exception of legalizing the black market afaik. Also trade between US and VN was opened in the 1990s, and since then many countries like Japan, Korea, China, etc, have been investing in Vietnam.
Because they're not really communist/socialist. They have a Socialist-Oriented Market Economy. Vietnam is another example of a failed socialist country.
Subscribed!! Looking forward to more. Was just in Hoi An as well as da nang. I am inspired to learn how to edit videos and photos, thank you for posting.
You are so beautiful,Da Nang is the city where I grew up,I live in San Diego near Miramar Marine Corp air station,it's similar to Da Nang only different is San Diego has less rain and humidity than Da Nang ,thanks for your video !
Hien K Nguyen Thank you! Glad you appreciated me trying to be artsy haha. It doesn't do that great at night or low light, but it looked nice when I was filming lanterns.
OMG, I'm currently studying to get my bachelors, and right after I finish, I'll be moving to Vietnam and living there with my fiance. Your videos makes me sooo excited!!! Vietnam looks so much fun compared to America. Could you make a video about the struggles you had when you first moved to Vietnam?
Dalena Nguyen ah I’m so excited for you!! :) Vietnam is a lot of fun and you can do lots of traveling also! That’s a great idea for a video. I’ll add it to the list!
I am from Jappan, When I saw your videos about Vietnam I really wanna try discovery Vietnam, so what should I prepare before I come to there? Thank you ✌️❣️

I WANT TO GO! My father said Vietnam is the most beautiful place on the planet, and the people are warm, friendly. Its silly affordable-I could disappear there and shed my western ways.
One thing I forgot to add was eating the Vietnamese food here. That coffee shop I went to does an amazing bowl of pho for less than $2. I was too busy trying to film to eat anything that day haha.

Really like your lifestyle! And a little bit of joke here: At 2:13. That's how most Vietnamese dudes stare as a blonde girl be like lol.
Haha yeah, it can be annoying, but it's understandable. It's just human nature to stare at something that looks different!
haha got cha, but you're beautiful though- so just let them have a chance to see what an angel looks like. Anyways, good luck!
haha thank you! :)
She is beautiful tho.
Isn't that also how white men stare at beautiful asian women ?
I was living like this for a year and i can tell you guys, it was awesome!! Its impossible to live like this for a long time, but you should do it for a short time!
That's awesome you got a chance to experience this! I agree with you though, it's hard to do this forever. It was nice while it lasted. :)
I went to Soul Kitchen last year!! :D
Nice!! It's such a chill place :)
He guys
Life in Vietnam will be less stressful and very comfortable. I really want to live in Vietnam after retirement. Love from china
I live in Vietnam
I’m Vietnamese
PurplePanda Gamers what is it like ?
Zoie fucking hot
on an unrelated note ,, my roblox user is xXAaliyahXx1165 😹😹.
* 7am in Vietnam is not early anymore :))
* I mean, if you already go out to do your workout you could of saved money on the delivery :)) that adds up over time. If they have free delivery then that's fine.
*Rent a place that has a washing machine lol, makes things easier.
*it’s somewhat early for someone who doesn’t start work until 3:00pm
*delivery is free :) and I don’t like the outdoor pollution.
*This place I only stayed at for 1.5months. In Saigon I had a washer/dryer as I stayed there for a while.
Are you from VietNam
My mother is :) Check out my Q + A video if you would like the full story!

I am from Pakistan .I like your country
Very nice video. The people seem very warm. I THINK Da Nag would be where i would stay for awhile. Your very nice and moms not so bad either.
Robert Maddelena It's a wonderful place to be for a while! I would highly recommend it. :)
Alison Linh d
Ken
Kenneth Monette Wow, sounds like you're going all over the place! I think you'll love Vietnam. I hope you have an amazing trip and safe travels! :)
@@kennethmonette8714 Wow! That's crazy cool! I'll check it out right now. :)
Would love to talk and tip a few beers with you and Jake somewhere in 'our' travels around the world!
Cheers Alison, hope u like it, would like to know your opinion, Ken

Really enjoyed this video :) I'm teaching in Europe at the moment but I have a lot of friends in Vietnam who have been begging me for years to go join them in "paradise" as they call it :) I'm heading there next year so videos like these are really useful!!!
Philip Sadler I'm glad I can help! Good luck with the move to Vietnam! I'm sure you will enjoy it here :)

Thanks for this beautiful amazing video. I was born in DN and watched this video made me miss home. Keep up the good work and I’m glad you like Da Nang.
From Florida,
Tuan Le
Tuan Le That’s amazing! I miss Da Nang very much. Hope you are doing well over there!
Alison Linh,
Where do you live now?
I’m doing good in the States but I wish I could be in VN right now.
Just out of curiosity, are you mixed because of your last name!?
Tuan Le Currently living in Seattle right now. I love it here as well, but a part of me will always call Vietnam my home. Yes, I am mixed. My mother is Vietnamese. :)
Alison Linh, I could see that beautifully innocence Eastern looks of you. I was going to Da Nang for a cousin’s wedding and visit my grandparents in June but it changed.
I was hoping to go back soon and adventure the Ha Giang’s loop.
2:15, i know what's this guy thinking.
Hi Linh
Vietnamese here
I'm glad you love my country
2:14 😛 that dude haha
Hi my friend thank you so much for sharing life living in Viet Nam , I enjoyed it. wishing you success.
You are living a retirement life. Why didn't I have an English teacher like you.
Haha yes, it feels that way! :)
The cost of living is only about one fifth of that in their home country, good service, cheap food and Vietnamese Love peoples from the West,
A person from the English speaking countries can earn income by teaching English to Vietnamese, easy to make money in Vietnam, work is always priority for them. I do not know why
Damn for a communist country... this is beautiful, kind of just like a third world china... so idk wtf happened to north korea
Failed at socialism, that is.
Short but informative video, very interesting. Keep up the vlogs Alison, can’t wait till the next video.
Kevin N Thanks Kevin! I always appreciate your comments! :)
