    Nicely presented as usual. As for Vietnamese friendliness, I went out cycling from Hoi An one day and got stranded about 10 miles away because I'd got lost and it was getting late and dark. I stopped in at a shop and asked the family if they could order a taxi for me. They wouldn't hear of it! They bundled my bike into the back of their SUV and the husband cheerfully drove me all the way back to my hotel and took me right to my door. Lovely family and so kind.
    I'm hoping to be back over there late January and if I do I will hire one of your guides to show me around 😃. Keep up the great work, bye .

      Living in Vietnam was awesome during Cvid. But the change from quarterly border runs to monthly (for 1yr visa to USpassports) made staying there unattractive. Each border run taking a few full day of time, 1+ pages in my passport = about 14-16 passport pages for the year, plus the extra cost. I've moved on.

    As a Software Developer. I agree that it's very easy to find coffee shops for working in Vietnam. (e.g. Highland Coffee)

    There are absolutely No visas for digital nomads, retirees and self employed workers. Even a work visa for someone with a work contract is difficult and can take over 6 months. Even Foreign essential workers are officially discouraged from working in Vietnam. I emailed the Vietnamese embassy and they ignored all questions. Tourism and foreigners working in Vietnam has collapsed and people are looking elsewhere. There is Zero indication this will change. Update June 25 finally some visas have been lengthened to allow investment, tourism and human flourishing in Vietnam. Thank you Vietnam.

    • @matrices3987
      @matrices3987 2 года назад +37

      @@vdimension6300 You are misinformed. Even the average backpacker spends at least 4 X the money spent by a local. Everything they buy is taxed. The positive to an economy to have foreign money spent without a foreign investment that siphons profit is huge. Vietnamese work much harder than Thailand but Thai tourism is one reason why Thailand is twice as wealthy. But if you hate foreigners and don't want them in your country that's fine, it's your right, but you should consider how you would want to be treated when Vietnamese seek work in Japan, Korea or Singapore like the 3-4 million Vietnamese working there now.

    • @lamtrinh8780
      @lamtrinh8780 2 года назад +13

      @@matrices3987 lol, speaking of misinformation. The Thai gdp per capita is twice that of Vietnam because Thailand had peace for many decades, while Vietnam only started developing in 90s after the economic reforms were made and US trade embargo was lifted. In 2000, Thai's gdp per capita was over 5 times that of Vietnam. Now in 2022 its only double and at this rate by 2030 Vietnam should catch up with Thailand. Thailand's overreliance on tourism is one of the reasons why their economy is growing so slowly while Vietnam's economy is roaring because we're focused on high tech manufacturing.

    I agree with all your points here. But surprised you didn't mention the visa situation. Vietnam's current policy is unfriendly, with 30 day maximum stay (and some nationalities don't even get that). This is impractical for digital nomads, who will continue to prefer Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia etc. due to relative ease of stay

    The #1 reason not to consider Vietnam as a digital nomad is simple: the visa situation is dismal. If you love being forced to physically cross a boarder every 30 days, Vietnam may be for you. If not, don't bother. Great place to visit, impossible place to call home unless you're legally employed by a Vietnamese company.

    Great, hilarious video. I really wish my job allowed for working outside of the US (or didn't make traveling a little extra tricky), but on the bright side... hopefully things stay for a while so that when I start looking at retirement it's still a place I should consider "not" moving to like I have been forever.

    Hi Miss Vu! I’ve moved here to Hoi An from San Francisco and loving it so far. One or two questions I have for you though! Do you have any suggestions for improving my 30 day tourist visa options. I plan to open a business eventually but probably not until mid 2023. In the meantime it’s back and forth… I realize I can zip over to Bangkok for the weekend, but I’m praying there are better options soon! 😁👍🏻
    Secondly, can you give me the name of a good carpet store in Danang! I need several area rugs for my house and haven’t had any luck finding one!
    Thank you! Enjoy your videos! Hope to see you in Hoi An someday! 😁👍🏻

      You can get a 3 years multiple visas if you have documents to prove that you are working or doing business in Vietnam. There was a video last month she did with the guy from Vietnam Embassy why don't you ring him up he might be able to help you. Good luck there and thank you for loving my 1st home country and Vietnamese people.

    Sadly here is no digital nomad visa in Vietnam. You cannot work legally as a digital nomad on a one month tourist visa. However you can be sponsored by a company and eventually achieve a work permit and temporary residence card when you are employed. This might change in the future and the path could become a lot smoother. Thank you for the video.

    Knew from 2 years ago
    Business owner here in Danang
    Almost every expats left
    It happened cause there is so much people come here as tourist visa 6 months extension or 1 year for about 300 dollars and its fine
    The problem started when you start working cause when you are in the tourist visa you can't work it's the policy
    So during and after covid the government searched for everyone that staying too long and check them most of them have a job which is illegal and got reject to the tourist visa and the gov reduce the time for the visa from 6 to only 1 month
    You can still have the extension but now is very strict and not more than 6 months
    If you wanna stat here long time
    1. Have a business become someone to invest money in vietnam or become a founder of a company
    2. Working for an international companies and you will have work permit
    3. Study here
