Do I need to copy and paste the reference circles along with it?
Thanks!! I appreciate it! You can change the text color by selecting it and using the Fill and Stroke Menu. If the whole design was grouped, double click on the text parts you want to change, and that will give you the freedom to modify just that part. Does that help?
Hope it works. Ungroup and check to see if you're set to Fill or Stroke when you try to change color on your selected text. That will make a difference too depending on your design.
Rick, great video, but one question: how do you "detach" the reference circle from the text (or the other way around for that matter) after you're done?
Excellent question, and I should have pointed it out. I'll be sure to add the step in the next logo video. How do I remove the circle after using it to curve text? if I use [Object to path] on the text it stays wrapped but I lose the gradient in my text. Thank you for the tutorials.
Hey! I love this video but I have a question. After I finish the logo I cannot export it without the other circles that helped bend the text staying in the file. If I delete or move the circles it messes up the logo. What do do?
Thanks, and sounds like i should have mentioned that step. When you have the text bent the way you want it- keep it selected and go to Object- Object to Path. That will lock it in and make it independent of the guide circle. Actually working on a new video with curved text, so I'll make sure to point this out. Thanks.

great tutorial. I'm having trouble though at present , because my inkscape for some reason will not allow me to do just a circle that isn't a filled colour. I've tried to press stroke style but it won't open.
Thanks, and think we can solve this by adjusting the Fill and Stroke Menu. When you're on the FILL tab, click the X. If the whole circle vanishes, make sure you still have a stroke selected. Or.... with your original circle selected, click on the X on the very left-most end of the color ribbon near the bottom of Inkscape. Let me know if this helps!

Thanks, and for sure. Try the Align and distribute menu. On the part that says Relative to- you can choose how you want to center the text. Centered on the circle? Centered relative to another part of your project? Go through the Relative To drop down choices and hopefully that will help make it look they way you want.
Thanks for the tutorial. My biggest gripe with Inkscape is that one cannot work in CMYK. This is a huge negative against Inkscape for those of us in print. If the developers could add this then it would be a world class vector drawing program but until that happens, its not.
How do I get that diamond ? I moved on to 2:01 and you used "Dynamic Offset" and said "The little diamond does the magic." I do not get a diamond. I have double ended arrows. When I grab the double ended arrows it shrinks an ellipse rather than keep them concentric as circles.
Thanks for pointing this out! I should have mentioned that once you have the text curved the way you like it- with the text selected go to the top menu and choose Path- Object to Path. This will lock in the curve and make it independent of the guide circle. Thanks, and hope this helps!
When I follow the first steps, my circle is full, it does not look like circle, it is more like a full dark moon. How do I remove the inside and come up with just a circle or ring (empty). Thanks
How do I detach/remove the path circles that the words were created on? When I delete them, my text formatting is lost and it moves outside of the main logo.
Once you have the text the way you like it. Select it and choose Path > Object to Path. Then you can delete the guide circle and the text is locked in. Hope this helps!
Some of the defaults and tools in Inkscape have changed since I filmed this. If one of the toolbars is missing or you see it over on the right, go to View in the very top menu, and in the dropdown that appears look towards the bottom. You'll see choices of Default, Custom, and Wide. Click Custom and that should put the toolbars like I have in this video. If you're using the current Inkcape version 1.2 the options will be Fullscreen or Widescreen. Deselect Widescreen if you have your toolbars on the right.

I'm having trouble with circle tool mine only has a filled in circle option and I'm on version 2.1. Any help? I can't seem to figure out how to just make a blank circle like yourself. Any help is appreciated
Let's fix this. When you have the circle selected go to the Fill and Stroke menu. You can find it in the top menu bar under Object- Fill and Stroke. Go to the Fill tab on the Fill and Stroke menu and click on the X. That will remove the fill color. IF the whole circle vanishes, then click on the Stroke Paint tab on the Fill and Stroke menu and make sure you have a color selected (not white if you have a white canvas). Then look towards the bottom of the menu for the opacity slider and make sure the stroke isn't set to transparent. Hope this helps!
@@IronEchoDesign I tried what you said but it's not working I can't get an actual outline of the circle... it's just a circle with no outline and color and when you deselect fill it just vanishes, opacity is at 100.
Okay, let's figure this out. When you are on the Fill and Stroke menu, what do you see as a method to change colors? A color wheel? Or color bar sliders?
No problem. When you have the text curved on the circle. Deselect everything. Then select the guide circle and do Object- Flip Vertical. Here is an updated video that shows it better: ruclips.net/video/2MWKoDQea2U/видео.html

Something isn't working right from the start. You said click on the circle and ellipses tool, OK. You said ctrl and shift, that does nothing for me. Your little circle "cursor" is black solid, mine is hollow.

Thanks!!
why clip and not difference?
Excellent question. Clipping let's you carve out a piece of an entire group. Difference is a path function that only works on paths.
@@IronEchoDesign ahh I get it. Thanks!
Anytime!
Pushing shift and control don’t do squat on my lap top.
Can you try holding shift and control together while left click dragging the object?
ok but you never fixed the wrapping text
Okay. Sorry about that.
👍
Can someone send me done one plz
Does not work for me.Probably an outdated video or not enough explanation.
What can I help with?
Didn't work. I'm going to start over. I probably missed something
Great!
Thanks! Hope it worked!
You never aligned the santa monica text properly and it's driving my ocd insane
Sorry! I've been thinking about remaking this video. I'll align for sure next time.
@@IronEchoDesign It's ok, this vid had everything I needed. I'm having this problem when I try to upload some of my vectors onto my pod site, it says that it has text layers, even though I made everything paths and checked many times. Some work and some don't I can't understand why. Does anything immediately come to mind about this? Sorry for the essay..
@@MichaelCoronado-dm6zg No worries at all! Sometimes the scale is too big for POD or the dimensions are off. Or it could be transparency that trips up POD. Is there a specific POD platform that is causing some of the issues?
@@RickJohanson yes, Printify. It might be some kind of bug because I had taken the project that wasn't working and deleted everything from it, shrank the document and it still didn't work. I remade it the same way and it did work. So I have no idea at this point
All I can get is a fvcked up spheres with square edges.
Can you click on Edit Paths by Nodes after selecting one of the spheres? You should be able to adjust the edges by dragging the circle node.
