Just bought your complete course bundle a few days ago! Thanks to you I got the hang of Inkscape and I designed a few logos and even a birthday invitation. Now I want to know the program from a to z. Thanks for all your educational efforts!
For those of you who have not bought his class....trust me...It's worth every penny!!! I've purchased it and I learned so much. Nick is amazing at teaching this stuff. Trust me...you won't regret it. If I was smart, I would have bought the Gimp class as well as Inkscape and gotten it cheaper. But live and learn. You will learn a lot. No regrets. 😁🥰
You don't have to make the edges vertical or horizontal to extend the nodes, you can do it simply by holding down alt+ctrl while dragging the selected nodes.. great tutorial as usual :)
Thanks Nick! I'm still trying to grow the brain connections that tell you how to produce shapes like that book. Every one of your great tutorials helps.
Hi Nick. Nice video. It's cool to see what possible with simple shapes an the right technic. And I have question for an other Problem: I would like to adapt a horizontal font to the shape of a horizontal cylinder. Do you know how to do this?
just got here by chance while doing stuff for blender and trying to change png/jpgs to svg files what i really hate is that i always try to use blender short cuts :) thinking of getting the course seems like a good addition
Hi Nick, some time ago I bought your Affinity Designer Masterclass. I have it on my external hard drive, but it is quite an old version. I was wondering if the Designer Class you offer now, is it update to the newest version of Affinity Designer being 2.5.5 ?
How do you have all the workspace white and not a A4 "page". Are you zoomed in or something, because in the property menu I can't find such a setting. Great and useful video btw!
Part of the fun is there are so many other ways to achieve the same result (and in approximately the same time). For example, when I want to center just a handful of objects I sometimes set the align reference to "selected area" (bounding box).
I learn a lot from your videos, so keep up the good work. But one problem, my Inkscape looks very different from yours (I've downloaded the latest version) yours is som much easier to navigate in
Hello Nick, ty for all your videos. I have a question for you. I am working on a project (fictionnal World of Warcraft website) and i am trying to figure a simple way to create a logo for that website. I have an idea in mind but i've never really done a logo before (i am trying to learn by watching your videos !). The logo would represent a shield made of wood and metal and kinda respect the design of ingame shields (the shape can be round, a decagon, or shaper to look more threatening). I want the shield to be simple but still aesthetic, and it would be great if the shield had cracks or fissure on it. However, I have no idea how to design cracks or fissures. How would you proceed ? I don't want the shield to look too modern (i've seen modern representations of shields for gaming websites, but i kinda want my shield to look more ancestral and tribal, or at least give this feeling) Thank you !
I would love to see someone do a step by step of a file snowman ornament that I usually have to buy someone file because haven’t seen anyone should one on Inkscape to learn the snowman would have hat and brim parts and scarf all separate to put together after wards
Sorry, forgot something... your inkscape tutorials, are they also updated to a newer version? The name is Marc by the way, best belgian regards, Marc D.
Hi Nick, I hope you can help me. Hopefully it's only 3 clicks, but I don't know how to do it. I use Inkscape. I have an eps file with 80 icons on it. How do I get every single icon as a single SVG file without background colour? Thank you very much
Hi, I've been looking for a gimp tutorial to create a water slyle like the video in youtube called ''Watercolor Photoshop Action tutorial | Adobe Photoshop CC | Multi Tech'' could you do an video tutorial about it, Thank you.
No music, please! I like a how to video that has spoken steps. I don’t want to have to watch what is being done, having to try to understand which icon/keystroke/mouse action while listening to music without spoken explanation is frustrating.
Also i have a little process suggestion to help viewer have a little overview of the process. So u can list, at the side of the screen what u have done.
Is the private community only for those who purchased your course? I've had your logo course for a while and I've recently purchased your other courses but I never seen a community to join. Is inkscape really free or is there a paid version? If so which one have more benefits free or paid?Where can I download inkscape and is there an app? I've looked it up and there's various sites so I can't tell which one is legit. 🤔
The problem with all of these updates to a complex program like Inkscape is that they make obsolete all of the earlier "How to..." tutorials. I'm new to all of this, so my v 1.4 screen looks quite a bit different than Nick's 1 year-old tutorial (v 1.2?) shows. The differences confuse the daylights out of me. It's not Nick's fault, just an artifact of the frequent changes to the app by the developers.
(shopping cart wheels) Can't you just make the circle and place it where you want the 1st one, hit space bar to dupe one in place and then move the original to the last spot?
Late reply I know, but I think I had this problem yesterday; I would click on each segment I wanted in the shape, and it would create alot of nodes, and I couldn't shape the corners of the wineglass into curves. Turns out that I was supposed to select the segments while holding down the mouse button the whole time, rather than individual clicks. And then it worked fine. Hope that helps, but you probably already got the answer, since it's been three months.
inkscape 1.3.2 is a mistake on window becuz when i use the shape builder tool after i finish the heart shape and i click the selecting tool the program crash itself
Offset keeps making the whole geometry weird and even if it looks okay it's adding extra bits and nodes. I'm not sure what's wrong. (Making the inner part of the book).
My Inkscape is not opening. Is anyone else facing the same problem? I have tried reinstalling. It shows up in task manager but doesn't launch. Nothing seems to be working. Can anyone help me, please?

Nick, you are one of the best Inkscape teachers on RUclips! Thanks for providing these fantastic videos!
Yes He is. I agree with you.

You’re too kind. Glad you liked it! 🙌 PS - email if you want a discount code for the other courses. Same for anyone else who sees this comment.
that LPE for adding curves is very handy, this video is proof
Once again, thank you, Nick. I managed to complete all six icon exercises.
To see how you did the book felt like magic to me!

Excellent, thanks for the video. That book is simplicity and elegance at the same time.
Thanks Nick! I'm still trying to grow the brain connections that tell you how to produce shapes like that book. Every one of your great tutorials helps.
Thank you Nick! Please keep making these teaching videos :) Love from Malaysia
I know this may seem remedial for many people, but for a noob like me it's perfect!
the best tutorial I ever found, Thank you Nick
12:56 Thank you! I’ve been wondering why the node handles suddenly disappeared when I really needed them!
Great tutorial!
Amazing tutorial! I had a little problem with the base shape for the shopping cart. I clicked the X for the fill and it fixed the issue
Thanks for the simplicity and useful tips!
Really cool. I’m going to try making some of these shapes. Thanks for sharing! 🦋

Can you keep hair detail while removing background in inkscape ? Any video and also if possible a best method for it.
Hi Nick, could you please make a video about creating Skyline shapes/how to trace bridges/POI`s to make a nice "logo" of a favorite city in inkscape?
Amazing :) Thank you!
I learn a lot from your videos, so keep up the good work.
But one problem, my Inkscape looks very different from yours (I've downloaded the latest version) yours is som much easier to navigate in
Weeeeeee ... awesome ... thank you

hello sir, does your class also provide a certificate for completing the class?
I would love to see someone do a step by step of a file snowman ornament that I usually have to buy someone file because haven’t seen anyone should one on Inkscape to learn the snowman would have hat and brim parts and scarf all separate to put together after wards
Hello, I have a problem at 3:54. When I click the node tool, I am not allowed tomake two sides of the rectangle rounded
U have to make flag into path in path menu. path - object to path. It also happens when u subdivide star from flag
Hi nick, Can you tell me about release date of Inkscape 1.4
hello nick, can you make a tutorial about how to make a packaging design by inkscape?
Sorry, forgot something... your inkscape tutorials, are they also updated to a newer version? The name is Marc by the way, best belgian regards, Marc D.

Man if you need any music to use in the background of your videos I’d absolutely love it if you used some of mine. Love from New Zealand
and love from egypt 🇪🇬

Inkscape.org is where you can download it, and yes it’s free. As for the courses, if you sign in there’s a community tab in the menu on the left

How Can i save my file with a transparent background?
when you export a file in inkscape it has it as default.. are you exporting as a jpeg? png is the one with no background
You can export a PNG with the export menu. I have a tutorial for it on this channel if you search “export”
why when i wanna go back to selection tool and I press it, the program closes itself?
Whenever I use the shape builder tool in Inkscape, it creates extra nodes. Does anyone know how to prevent this?
Have you updated Inkscape recently? This was an issue in the older version from last year. They fixed that in the latest version.
Late reply I know, but I think I had this problem yesterday; I would click on each segment I wanted in the shape, and it would create alot of nodes, and I couldn't shape the corners of the wineglass into curves. bro why does your inkscape look so much better than mine
It could be Mac. Inkscape looks slightly different on Mac than it would if you’re using Windows.
On Linux it looks even better if you use a custom (GTK) theme. 😌
@@LogosByNick ok yeah im on windows
I'm confused on when to make it a path or not.
I guess the book without the bookmark might have looked a little bit like an ice cream sandwich... Icon?
wait, how big is one pixel?
*Do you like Boxy ? some app like Inkscape*
I noticed your star in the thumbnail doesn't include the 'wavyness', was this a conscious decision perhaps?
My Inkscape is not opening. Is anyone else facing the same problem? I have tried reinstalling. It shows up in task manager but doesn't launch. Nothing seems to be working. Can anyone help me, please?
👍👍
hi nick, we are waiting for new video.
Do you sketch out your logos before you use inkscape?
noice
why does my wine glass have the traces of stroke lines even after I ised the shaoe builder tool.
Me too
Turn off strokes
Awesome, this is not your first rodeo!
I would love to see someone do a step by step of a file snowman ornament that I usually have to buy someone file because haven’t seen anyone should one on Inkscape to learn the snowman would have hat and brim parts and scarf all separate to put together after wards
