If you want to learn more about how Inkscape works, I have a 50+ part video series where I explain all of the tools and features in Inkscape and demonstrate how they work. Here's the link if interested: logosbynick.com/inkscape/
I can’t get into Inkscape. I’m on the home page, it says it’s downloaded but all that opens up for me is an automated demo. I can’t seem to get to the page you have opened here.
A fantastic tutorial which is well paced and clear. For those who mentioned that there is enough explanation on the tool functions, my suggestion (as others have done in the comments) is to check out his other videos . Believe me, I understand the frustrations of going through a video over and over again to work something out (been there, done that). Doing a little research up front should be beneficial when it comes to learning what each tool does and how these logos are constructed. Great job again Nick!
Hi Nick, I'm from Morocco, I follow your videos since 2016, I really want to thank you for all what I learned from your lessons..your way of explaining is excellent.. to day I make money with designs that I realize with inkskype..Thank you so much.
This was my first intro to Inkscape and I remembered learning it in College because I was bored. (I studied Statistics actually) and it blew my mind! Thank you so much Nick! I still watch your videos and have been a long time subscriber
Great tutorial! Just started learning Inkscape with very limited experience working with vector based software and your videos are really helping me get to the next level. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I swear u r the best explainer...I have never been able to follow something properly for the first time but while following u i made the exact logo so easily. 😍😍😍❤❤❤
Man, i came in this wanting to make a simple logo for my business but this is much more complicated than i thought it was Gunna be. It took me like 30 minutes to create this one letter watching a tutorial. but i guess its more than most people would choose to do on their free time.
It's good for beginners logo design....if you want to learn the basics,, there are separate tuts I have learnt blender software by just watching other people do it In tuts
Hey Nick! Love your channel and your work. I was wondering if you could do a quick video on the difference between Inkscape and gimp? When to use each? I think it would be very beneficial!
Well im not Nick but i guess i can try to explain. So Inkscape is better for making logos from and other art from scratch. Gimp on the otherhand is more editing an alreasy ready picture and not so much making from scratch. Also Gimp is lot worse for making logos. So yeah hope it helps :)
Thanks so much for making these... I am doing your tutorials one by one starting with the oldest... I am grateful for all these tutorials! Please keep at it! Inkscape is coming alive for me. I don't know if you've done a tutorial on making a full scene like of a living room, garden, or classroom... I was looking for something like that but didn't find anything on you tube... Maybe for the future? :)
You are very talented and know the program very well, but you are not explaining what each function does and how they work. You are just shooting steps very fast, but at the end, we will learn only how you did this specific project. It would be better to really teach how each function work. Take your time on each step. Split this type of video into several parts. Explain each tool and action better.
Othni Morales I totally agree. Being very new to Inkscape, I don't know the environment really well. And the video didn't explain the tool functions. Great work all the same.
I believe that by showing us the technique it would take no time for individuals to google "why would I perform object to path function" or "what is path difference in inkscape". I have done heaps of these tutes and would not watch them if Nick explained every time what each thing is trying to do.
Completely agree. I clicked this video because it said beginner tutorial. It is great work, but I found myself very confused and having to stop and rewind numerous times just to figure out what was being done.
Are u mean a little space between cicrles? If yes, i guess u need to just move the part ( which looks like connection of L and C) a little down and a little left.
Finally! Thanks for this, Nick! You are one awesome human! I'm trying this whole playlist out to refresh my Inkscape skills! xoxo from the Philippine islands!
Hey there! When I first started using #Inkscape, I knew nothing about it except the very basics, that too superficially, but after searching around on the web I came across your channel & I was delighted to follow along. I can't thank you enough #NickSaporito, you made my life enjoyable, because although I'm a fine artist, UX/UI designer & developer, but using the software to implement my artwork was a bit unknown. Love you & thank you!
Amazing tutorial and absolutely necessary to get a groove on with Inkscape. I’m getting it all except for at 5:50 where you zoom in and grab that little piece off to delete it. I’ve gone through the tutorial step by step a few times. Any advice?
For me, it doesn't break apart because the crescent-shaped piece adopts some odd height parameters (224.8px) so it doesn't perfectly intersect with the rectangle. Changing the dimensions manually however results in the next final steps being completely broken.
I love these. I managed to make this too. One thing though ... a lil explaining after each step would help. Gives some time to actually get the step done and understand what is going on at the same time. I regularly have to pause and go back to see what I missed cus by the time I start to follow you are a few steps ahead already.. Just a suggestion.. thanks again :)
hi Nick . I am from India. A big thank you for your tutorials . I really appreciate what are you doing . your way of explaining is very cool & easy to understand .. just keep doing what you are doing . (by the way I just started using Inkscape today . I discovered your channel just today .) Thanks a ton :)
So happy to have stumbled on your channel. I'm just starting to work with Inkscape and your videos will definitely come in handy. Thank you for taking the time share!!
Great tutorial as usual. My only complaint is that the new video thumbnail kinda decreases the videos impact while your old video thumbnail does justice to ur videos. Not saying that I'm against you trying something new
Thank you so much Nick! You have so much talent and it is certainly amazing you are sharing that with the world! Totally feel like learning Inkscape from your expertise! All the best :).
Your tutorials are awesome! Nick, can you give me a link to a tutorial you made that has the basics of Inkscape? I want to be able to learn Inkscape and do this things on my own instead of watching all of the tutorials to learn all the objects
When I get to about 5:55 and I need to break apart and delete the small part... it just wont work. I am following step by step but this part just into working for me. And idea what I am doing wrong?
Im in the same boat as you. I go go difference and then break apart but just doesnt give me the small bit to delete. Ive gone over multiple times and followed step by step but just does not work lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Using inkscape 0.92.4
I figured a hack around this. I dont know why it didnt work but I found that when you duplicate the green piece. Well before the next step alt + left key just once to shift it one place to the left. Then try selecting the green piece and the other shape. Then difference and then break apart and it should come up with the little bit to delete. After I deleted the little bit I just selected the green piece and alt + right key one space back to the right to put it back to its original place. If anybody knows the real reason why it didnt work then by all means share please. Thanks
I think I found the reason now and checked and it worked. The green piece was slightly bigger than it should of been. When you orginally made the green rectangle he says to make it 150 px wide. So i did that but when I halfed it I noticed that the width was saying 75.336 px. I changed that to exactly 75.000 px and then tried the steps again and it worked. Hope this works for you
I will start studying your tutorials to create a stopwatch icon for an open source Android project I'm working on. I'll put your name in the credits in case I'm happy with my icon creation process. :D

yep
Thanks for the videos.

This is an absolutely splendid tutorial. Thank you for that. Looking forward to watch more of your content.
You make excellent tutorials. A lot of folks show what the tools do, but you're one of the few who show how to use the tools.

Dear friend it is not his talent it is his hardwork that is paying off

Im really interested in how did you made your thumbnail, it looks bit different. : ) I mean the paper part.
Are u mean a little space between cicrles? If yes, i guess u need to just move the part ( which looks like connection of L and C) a little down and a little left.
no, its not about gap.
It's a PSD template I used with Photoshop
Ah, okay, thank you anyway. :)

I am also having this issue. If you found a solution please share! Thanks :)
Yes, it's not breaking apart.

You should select the duplicated green shape not the original one
My first inkscape logo :)
I tried it and it came perfectly! 😍😍 Thank you so much! ❤

Again Nick amazing work. You're talented. I'm new to Inkscape tool like some pointed out I wish you had a video explaining what each tool does.
My "Path, Break Apart" is breaking apart everything else but that little piece no matter where on the damn image I click.
