Minelab Equinox 800 4x4 program : Walk through and testing in the field

  • in this video i show you the current program i am using on the minelab equinox 800. The 4x4 program is a very good all round program and i have found it great on ploughed soil, as well as stubble. it can be a pain on the beach at times but i switch to the beach 2 program if it plays up ensuring im at a recovery speed of 4 and iron bias is set at 4.
    PLEASE NOTE : at no point do i ever mention that this is my program and one that i created... this is used by many detectorists and the credit goes to Gordon heritage for sharing with everyone.
    hope you all enjoy and have as much luck as ive had with this!

    • @TheDetectits
      @TheDetectits  4 года назад +1

      Hi mate dont worry about air testing because when they are in the ground the soil around it gets very conductive and gives a bigger signal. The nox is an absolute beast at finding silver and you wont miss it. Noise cancelling in the field and a sensitivity suiting your ground between 19 and 23 normally is what I do. Also make sure your in all metal mode.

      I always have my sensitivity between 18 and 25 depending on the location and soil. This was full of trash and it just works for me on this field. It doesnt false much, but when it does its normally because of the local phone mast over the way.

    Hi mate, I’m going to use these settings in a Roman field. I’ve been on a few days using different settings but it’s full of iron, I’m now ignoring the low iron hums but any decent signal I get it ends up being aluminium cans. Is there a way I can ignore these too or is it just pot luck on those hits?

    • @TheDetectits
      @TheDetectits  3 года назад +1

      Hi mate unfortunately you've hit it on the head with what you've said. Just remember that the bronze roman coins about will be iffy signals. If you know there is roman there and you've had plenty then personally on a field like this I would run iron bias at 1 and recovery speed at 6 and dig everything. You will dig lots of trash but roman iron items can be worth digging. If your fed up with junk and don't wanna do this then use this programme and see how you go but ideally a faster recovery speed should help you in trashy areas.
      Hope this helps

    • @Wiiggz
      @Wiiggz 3 года назад

      @@TheDetectits thanks for the reply mate, I know Romans used these fields as a path all them years ago. The iron hits are always super deep too. Thanks mate. This is the local parish hall in my village and I have full permission in writing to go anytime as my partner's grandmother runs it.
      Youll need to get permission before detecting everywhere buddy 👌
      Glad you enjoyed 😁

      The Detectits thank you for the quick reply.
      There are a few farm lands by Myself,
      No harm in asking permission.👍
      May I ask another question with regards to permission.
      Is it the usually agreement to split any finds 50/50
      Is this a common/standard practice.
      Also with regards to a possible hoard, I believe that has to be reported to the appropriate governing bodie/s.
      Hope I’ve got this correct.
      Just subbed.👍

    • @TheDetectits
      @TheDetectits  4 года назад +1

      @@godsbeast.69 yes mate its normally 50/50 unless stated otherwise. Without permission though its legally the land owners.
      Any items over 300 years old have to be reported to the finds liaison officer and they decide if they are declared treasure or not. You can also record finds on the P.A.S (portable antiques scheme).
      Hope this helps

      Can't recommend that one any more higher than I already do. Perfect height, light and has the foot pedal. They do one with a plastic D handle instead of just the stainless steel t-bar handle but I had to return mine after 2 digs because the rivets on the plastic handle came loose. Could have been a one off but weren't going to chance it again

    Not sure why some people struggle with the Nox, stick it in this 4x4 program or something similar and you are away. More experienced users can squeeze a bit more performance out of the Nox but this program will find stuff and is fairly mild mannered too...

    Broken tone at 12.17 you should have dug it to show what it was, as you are demo'ing the machine - it's possibly junk. I'd have dug it to find out!

      Cheers for the feedback pal. I was ill when making this video and full of cold and it was requested by a few people that wanted the video asap before a dig so I probably just forgot. Did do an example further on though.

    Complete waste of time doing an air test completely different numbers in the ground 😞

    • @TheDetectits
      @TheDetectits  4 года назад +1

      I know mate but only slightly. This is the reason I tested it in the field afterwards, when digging targets I've always noticed the numbers dont change too much with the equinox unless your in very very rocky land and I've found alot of stuff. Generally with this machine in this program it's quite accurate.

      I think he was doing an air test more for sounds and tones which his program will give. To be fair the target ID range of the enquixox is not that great anyway. Ground mineralisation would probably make little difference in the way of tones and numbers. If he was trying to demonstrate depth, then I would 100% agree that an air test would not be truly accurate. Great video dave as always. And thank you for taking time out of your own busy life to help fellow detectorists. GL HH.
