You transfer vehicles from one to another line in tricky situations. I rather hold one line, one locomotive and one bridge/tunnel always in reserve. I call the reserve line "taxi line", because I use it very flexible to transport passengers from any station to any other station. Whenever a station gets stressed I draw the "taxi line" from the stressed station directly to the nearest destination of the passengers just for the purpose of one single ride - and I remove the line just before the vehicle reaches the destination to get the "taxi line" back into reserve before the vehicles returns to the first station. The vehicle will still unload all passengers even if I have already deleted the taxi line on the map. The locomotive starts always from the stressed station, if I draw the taxi line from there, so I get always an immediate relief. With the bridge/tunnel in reserve I can back up all stations over the map. I press the pause button a lot to use the taxi line as much as possible. Later - when a couple of stations blink at the same time - I consider to hold another second "taxi line". It helps me to manage a not perfectly balanced system at least until the next break, so I can still adjust my regular lines with the Sunday supply.
Ouch. Your acute angles are hurting me. You'd wean out another 500 capacity at least if you got rid of as many of them as you could. Your drawing style makes them by default. You require no additional resources to just be a little careful in drawing the line. Any acute angle station, the train MUST stop, even if it was going to express the station because it had no capacity, or because there was no one to pick up. This slows them down. A LOT. If they're right angled or obtuse, they don't, they wizz past, they get around a lot faster, you get more capacity out of the entire network. It looks better too! Replace all your concave segments with convex ones and see how much better the entire line does. And yes, you can just unhook a station in exactly the same way you've been hooking them.
his actual main problem was the circular track. straight lines being better might seem counter intuitive but they are. because when you go through multiple circles in a row your usually too full to pick up the ones at the end, but if its a line you can pick them up on the way back.
You were out of tunnel for so long, I was thinking, why not have 2 central station, one northshore and one southshore and then just one line looping across the river, so you can spend all your week bonus on anything but tunnels.
One thing, little hint for you. If you make a circle line around a river, you'll need need 2 tunnels, but if you make a linear line you just need ONE tunnel. So dont make circle lines around rivers. You need to make a mix of circle and linear lines. And by the way, make the locomotive run in different directions when you got circle line
Usually I'm not big on commenting, but here it is. Also, usually I don't buy games after watching only 1 video, but guess what I did after your first video on this game? I love this game! And I really like watching you play, please continue.
The most important thing, if you have multiple stations of the same kind at a cicular-line in a row: have two trains in opposite direction, so they pass a different one as the last of the same kind, because otherwise you always fill the trains in the first station, while the last of the same kind gets overloaded to gameover
You can just pull the line off of individual stops. Don’t need to un-draw the entire line. Also if you’re wanting to un-draw an entire color at once, just pull up the color on the bottom and there’ll be an x there. Click that and that entire color will be removed. Makes resetting the lines super easy.
Awesome! I really enjoyed watching you play this! :) Oh btw I'm sure you've figured it out by now but if you want to redraw a line, a quicker way to do that is to click on the colour of the line in the bottom window which brings up an 'x' on that coloured circle, which if you click it, completely erases that line for you so you can start again. :D
If you're doing a hub like this, have the uniques right after the hub so they get off quickly and free your trains for everything else. If it's at the end, then the trains are full of uniques and can't pick up passengers in their own line.
Osaka is probably the most fun, since it can have 2 different types of trains. Also, endless mode is a bit less dependant on RNG, so it's probably better to show the advantages of different strategies. You can just let the game fill the map with stations, then try different layouts (or different mixes of trains and carriages) and compare the maximum number of passengers that each strategy can move per day.
One tip from me: try to keep your angles through the stations at 90° or greater. You can drag the tracks to follow a different path from station to station sometimes. Trains will always stop if it's sharper, even when there's no one waiting. That'll get rhe train moving faster and thus moves more people. Edit: Fun fact: I got a score of more than 2,000 on Osaka on my first try lol
This game seems so simple but extremely entertaining. I was actually on the edge of my seat. Played a similiar game involving an airport. But the easy editing and playability of this I could see keeping you coming back to play. Please do more cities, Skye.
Thank you for this great video! I learned something new. The advice about circles and petals of a flower are really useful. (My own record is 1200 at the moment.)
+richard sutcliffe - It won't remove the station if you simply drag the track (otherwise it would keep removing stations when you tried to add a new stop between two existing stations). You need to click on the track and drag it _over_ the station you want to remove.
Just started playing and already love the game. Also very informative of how the people go to any station of the shape, not one specific one as I assumed.
I think you had a bit of a blind spot for the light blue track. It was running nearly empty with 2 trains just about the whole game, you never took a train from there :P
There are no squares in the south, ever. Love this game, never made beyond 1200 though. Some gentleman mentioned about angles here, gonna try that to increase the speed of the trains.
Try this: use 1 big line south of the river, stack all carriages there, it needs only 2 tunnels hopefully. With the remaining lines you should be able to handle northern half, 1 locomotive each
11:30 I would have this point put in a, express ringline, if you had the tunnels to afford it. Picking 4 or 5 or the outermost stations and making direct connections to take pressure off the main network.
Man... your voice is so calming (if there is word as calming :) ) . I just play the game you talking on the background :). I am not even playing the same map but whatever. Just using you as a calmer :)
You know, you shouldve picked the line at week 9, from what i understand about the game (Which may be terribly wrong) that wouldve guaranteed you tunnels because the game cant let you get more lines than you have at max.
You just made me buy another game... But i love it. This game is soo awesome I got 3000 in my 2nd round. But it was in Paris. Please play this more often and in other cities too:)
Tactic? I’ve not ever played the game but I think this will work: Have 2 interchanges in the Centre and have no lines cross the river, other than the one that goes between the interchanges. On the line, add loads of trains w/ carriages.
ah I'm glad to see you do some of this I havven't touched it in ages, got addicted when it first arrived on steam, bargain too it was only £5, i really wanna know how people get such high scores with so many circles
I have similar tactics to you. I'm just combining in the line circles and triangles like this way ∆0∆0∆0 and connect it to square station (cuz they less common). And if I have a unique shape station I just make a special line for this connecting to the other lines.
I started playing a few hours ago, and got to 3230 (82 days) with 3 huge lines (only 3 tunnels) and supported by one small 'circle line' with a lot of two trains. You should try it u sure will do better than me and my demo ver. LOL!
Was there not a spare interchange ? (can you move interchanges about later ?) and I would have spun the blue line up to help the yellow station. Obviously the more line, the more demand the more need for trains the more stations the more demand etc.
And also tie up spaces on the train as they go round, which is also a good reason why you should put trains going in opposite directions around circles, and about evenly spaced on end to end routes
19:45 The green line looks like a bird Light blue line looks like the state of Ohio Dark blue line looks like a B Yellow line Massachusetts but backward
One tip: Always take tunnels, no matter what the options are. You only get a few chances during the first weeks to get tunnels and you will run out.
Ok
you can click on the line circles at the bottom, an X will appear and if you click it the whole line will quickly be deleted
Not everyone apparently sit through tutorial.
@@pilkjaerYeah that's why he give people like that, a useful tip above. To help people that skipped tutorial.
@@qmt1610 Or some people may have just forgotten after playing the tutorial, I never thought I'd need to delete a whole line when I started playing!
"Oh we got a square over here! Thank the lord!" hahaha your excitement level about it was so great.
as someone who has played this game for quite some days his reaction is really accurate xD
@@Carcosahead yea. You only get like 3 squares per map but you get 252034848427 circles

I work for a transportation agency that has both train and bus service... I would call this a bus-bridge.. and that is a great strategy, thanks!
cool, why don't you apply for the next mayor of istanbul?
Huh, thanks for the tip

I kept screaming THERE ARE NO TRAINS ON THE PINK LINE
I play on mobile, I didn't even know that there was a PC version
I remember you saying this game is addicting to play.. well its addicting to watch too haha
who thought this was a video about the real London metro, I enjoyed the game however
You can select the colour you want down below, and then press the X, that makes deleting lines much easier.

My god the game is like super therapeutic at the start but it goes into disaster when there are too many stops and too little locomotives hahaha

Circular lines are not always the best. You have to look at each situation on its own to make that determination.
I enjoyed watching you play. You gave a lot of good advice. Thanks!
Do you still play this? If so, can you make some tips and tricks for Shanghai?

I would say the best map,for scoring is Barcelona because you almost don’t need to worry about having tunnels and it also has my high score on it.

Consider having a dedicated track on each side of the river to traffic moving.
I have similar tactics to you. I'm just combining in the line circles and triangles like this way ∆0∆0∆0 and connect it to square station (cuz they less common). And if I have a unique shape station I just make a special line for this connecting to the other lines.

Could you please consider playing on my home city of Melbourne in the next video? :)
I am wondering if it makes sense to put one line only for unique symbols so they don't pile up so much in the centre.
And also tie up spaces on the train as they go round, which is also a good reason why you should put trains going in opposite directions around circles, and about evenly spaced on end to end routes
