Thank you for this user friendly video. I just bought the same press so i am happy i made a good choice. Now, i am feeling more confident to make acrylic keychains.
After some research I found that the blanks have to be CAST acrylic in order to be sublimated on. Most of these sold at craft stores are cast acrylic. I assume that the blanks used in this video is cast acrylic hence why it worked so well. If your blanks didn't turn out right after a press you may actually be using extruded acrylic, a less expensive and low quality blank.
These are super cute. Do you have a suggestion for removing stubborn sublimation paper residue? I could not get paper completely off and it appears cloudy. I soaked, rubbed and used a magic eraser. I even tried goo gone.
The sub paper leaves a slight cloudy texture. I made a mistake of putting a smaller design on without the blank sub paper totally covering the keychain so I had clear spots. Need to make sure the sub paper completely covers the keychain.
I just wanted to add my experience with this project. My discs are very cloudy after removing all of the paper. I believe this is residue left on from my Asub paper. But I’ve found that if I apply a coat of uv resin it completely removes the cloudiness.
Great video, just did my first ever sublimation project. Although the keychains curled & they look frosty, also the tape mark was embedded. Any way to fix that?!
Great video. Please help! I've done this and my sublimation paper comes off just fine but the residue wont come off no matter how much I scrub it. I've soaked them used dawn dish soap and goo gone and it's still there like sticker residue. The image is clear on it, almost perfect. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
For those who want to know, the residue was terrible frosting from what I believe is the wrong kind of acrylic. It was the cheap one's from Amazon. I had thicker (regular not specifically for sublimation) blanks from another supplier and they took the sublimation beautifully!
@@katrinalatham1795 of course, I tried a different shops on Etsy for sublimation keychains and it made a big difference. Another important factor is watching the temperature.
