I always had the utensil holder the other way too. I think because that's how my mother had it and that back compartment never got used. It's where things went to never be seen again. Turning it around does make so much more sense!
For reducing height of instant pot, turn lid upside down and place on top of pot. That worked for me in sliding my pot onto to a shelf where I thought the pot was too tall when pot lid was right side up. Still can store my steamer basket and little wire rack inside.
After losing our farmhouse to fire in 2022 we have rebuilt an 800 sq ft cottage. We were able to salvage lots of "stuff" from the fire and have had the same experience you had. We got rid of lots of stuff just after the fire and again as we began to unpack our storage unit but 6 mos later I am still sorting, purging and realizing a new home means we live in it and use it differently. I like to say we are in phase 1-figuring out what works for us in this season and what doesn't and then figuring out solutions to our most pressing issues. At some point I realized its literally a never ending process and I decided to be friends with that.
Hi Kellie, I saved a drawer by putting my "silverware" or utensils into a picnic utensil holder onto my countertop. I've done it this way for years and it works. Saves a drawer and lets everyone get what they need without opening a drawer and trying to remember what utensil is where. Have a lovely day! ~Angel
My house is 832 sq ft…I have half the kitchen cabinets that you do…and a stair case to chew up room…no garage or basement. 2 bedrooms and for some dumb reason 1 and a half baths…storage under the stairs…I have 3 pans ( fry, sauce and Dutch oven with lids) …they are in stove drawer. 2 , 3 shelf 1/2 cupboards for dishes, glasses and serve/ cook wear. I cupboard and a chimney cupboard for food…full size appliances..yet I have all the room I need. Lost the dryer to add shelves over the washer ( which is in a closet) so line/ rack dry…also not a problem…I don’t miss instant pots, toasters,1 collapsable strainer for colander and strainer one roaterybeater, no extra dishes cups, flat ware etc…I set of sheets per bed plus I extra set…we all sleep in twins…5 towels, 8 wash cloths cloths… live with very little…make do…I am very happy, single mom of 3 girls…don’t make much $ but save and have the house nearly paid off…this house has too much stuff and plenty of space.
my husband & 3 dogs (now 2 dogs 💔) lived for 5 yrs in a 38’ feet, 384 sq ft class a diesel rv 🚎. everything was filled to the brim. i made use of every cabinet & drawer purposefully organized. our “garage” was the underbelly of the rv lol. we have 1 vehicle. still only have 1. recently we bought a home. it’s the smallest model in the neighborhood. we still use the same pot, pan & utensils. the only thing is we added one large pot & 1 pizza pan bc we like making pizzas from scratch. we couldn’t use an air fryer in rv bc of the voltage so soon as we got a house, we were gifted an air fryer. we have an extra room now we keep empty for when our son visits us as he’s hours away. one day i pray the room can be occupied by future grandchildren. we only buy what we need & we have a couple cabinets that are sort of empty. the thing rv life has taught me is, whenever i do make purchases now, i think “where is this going to go..”; “how often will i use it?”. i had a tiny built in cabinet near the rv front door which had small clear glass doors that i crammed all my 8” & smaller antique relics in. in our house now, i bought a curio cabinet to store them in. i can’t believe all the same dolls that are in my curio cabinet today fit inside that small rv cabinet! you just couldn’t see the tiny things or dresses in the rv cabinet as much - but i cherish my antiques & made a way happen for them to fit in rv with us. same applies for my future doll or antique purchases: where in the curio cabinet will this fit. & if it won’t, i don’t buy it. i’m very selective when we go antiquing. anyway, to anyone that sees this, have hope & may God bless & keep you all safe. 🙏💚
lol what kind of comment is this? This IS a small space. The average US home is over 2000 square feet. Are you really guilting someone who lives in a small space for it not being “as small” as yours? If the video doesn’t relate to you, then just stop watching it. The world doesn’t need to know that it doesn’t pertain to your personal experience. Think your ideas are better? Make your own video. And if you’re simply just a miserable person, don’t try to pull others down that rabbit hole with you. It’s a bad look, Virgie ❤️
I forgot to mention I had a deacons bench made( saw dust city) it seats 2 ( 3 little kids) it has storage floor to seat….large basket ( goodwill) on fridge top for storage, under bed storage box under each bed…as much storage as I can create with out visual clutter
You gave me an idea to get rid of most of my plastic storage stuff as they take up a lot of space and I never use them. This is the first time I have watched your videos. I think my kitchen is smaller than yours, but I too am very organized.
Love this series. I also live small, 1200 sq' home. My kitchen is a small L shape. I have gone vertical for storage: my knives are on a wall magnetic strip, I have a small hanging basket that stores my tea bags, and I hang my trivet on the wall and it doubles as wall decor.
Thank you so much for doing a video on small spaces. Organizing in a small house is so important. So many other RUclipsrs have these big houses with lots of rooms & storage. I live in a small house without an attic, no basement, no garage, no pantry, no laundry room. My washer & dryer are in my kitchen. I have the Joseph Joseph utensil organizer & it has helped.
My cabinets are like yours and we put in 2 tier metal pull out drawers side by side. No need to remove cabinet door divider but remove that half shelf inside. You have a lovely kitchen.
Make sure you buy the correct dimensions. Metal cabinet insert drawers . Consist 2 tiers per pullout drawer. I have this in all my bottom kitchen cabinets . These cabinets all had that half shelf which was useless for storage .Hope this was helpful!
Hi Kellie, thanks for another great video! In your drinkware cupboard, perhaps you can use a water bottle organizer up top and all other glasses on bottom. Or a riser can serve the same purpose.
You have done a great job making the most of your space! I have a small older farmhouse that was built in 1925. I can relate to making the space work for you for that season. You have made a lovely home. ❤
I have what looks like half of a kitchen. Two little squares on each side of my sink. Cabinet underneath that. Four small drawers and two cabinets with a small two door cabinet above the stove. Nothing else! No hack I’ve found has really helped me. Our landlord says a few holes for extra storage items is ok but they do charge for anything they have to fix. Long story short, from experience of this same place, they will charge us for it by calling it something else. That’s why I’ve been reluctant about putting any more holes in the wall. The bathroom is tiny as well but we had to do something! Back then I wasn’t into RUclips like I am now and discovering all these different ideas.
Your kitchen appears to be well organized to me. Everything has its place. You know where to find it when needed, and most importantly, the items that are used most often are easily available. Love your kitchen!
You are doing a wonderful job. The part that makes me most happy is that you are home schooling! You have given me some great ideas for when I am finally able to move out of the city and downsize. Thank you for a great video and showing us how you manage to make it work so well. 😄❤
We're a family of 7 (with a teen and preteens) in an 1100 sq ft apartment. I'm always trying to simplify, but i also realize we don't have tons of stuff, just lots of people in a small space. Bedrooms are 8x11 and we have a "one booty kitchen" 😂. Making the best of it, but a house would be nice.
I’m thinking about putting in pull-out drawers for one of our cabinets, too. They make the space so much more efficient. We use our blender about every other day so want it handy. The only place tall enough was inconvenient so now I store it on a short shelf, in two separate pieces, with the top section laying on its side; works better for us. Looking forward to this series!
Great video! I have a very small kitchen as well, 1 base cabinet, one corner cabinet and 2 deep drawers and the tall pantry cabinet. I’ve been scratching my head to get it all organized. At I don’t have much of anything, just things that we really use.
Looking forward to this series! We live in a modular home of 1, 000 Sq ft in FL during the winter & your organization of your home will translate well for us here. It really was a teachable moment for me a few videos ago when you said that your Grandmother never said that her home was too small to have people over. I loved that! To better organize the silverware turn them around, handle in, eating part out. That way you know what is what and the inner plastic area of the crate isn’t as crowded.
I have three drawers in my kitchen so I feeeeeel you! I’m wondering if I should try that utensil holder! 🤔 Love how you utilize the space so efficiently!
Yes!! We have half the drawers in this house that we had in our previous, but it’s also helped me realize how much space I was wasting. Once I got used to the utensil holder, I found I really enjoy it!
For the benches, could you use those wire things and store some of the casserole does vertical? I do that in my corner cabinet. Also we had a knife holder that attached to the underside of our upper cabinets and pulled down so we didn’t have to have them in drawers, but didn’t have them on the counter either.
You shared a lot of really useful ideas! Although we don’t live in a small house, I enjoy seeing your organizational tips. We definitely have certain cabinets that tend to be more full than I would like. I might just work on that today. 😃 Thanks for sharing! God bless! 🩷
Thank you! Btw, I gave your channel a "shout out" on my "Personal Goals for 2024" recent video, highlighting the meal matrix idea! I also included a link in my description box if anyone wanted to check out your channel. Blessings!@@yardsalesquad
Hi! Thank you! It’s a tricky question to answer, because the original paint card I’m unsure if it was Sherwin Williams or Valspar. Regardless, it came from Lowe’s and the swatch said “CI53 Shiitake.” SW does have a color called shiitake and it looks more taupe than our cabinets. But I wanted something that was just a hint of sage without screaming green and this has been the perfect color. We have been very happy with it!
That is very interesting! It’s definitely comfortable enough for our needs, but smaller than the kitchen we had before. May I ask where both of you are from?

I don t even have darwer . And half or cabinet . Wow where is your dishes is very similar . I sold my house to go in small apartment . My spices is on top my stove
So glad to have you here! It’s a tricky question to answer, because the original paint card I’m unsure if it was Sherwin Williams or Valspar. Great question! You're right, I could just donate the Crock pot and use the IP for both. I haven't done a lot of slow cooking with the instant pot and I've heard others say they've experienced that it's different than a crockpot on that setting. So for now I'm just hanging on to both until I figure out for myself if that is the case. Also, there are times when I cook something in the crockpot, say carnitas, and want to use my IP for rice! :)
The instant pot tends to burn things if left on it all day like you would a crockpot, so the crockpot for the win for slow cooking and the instant pot for the wins for quick meals.

Most likely, those two round cake pans are stacked with some marbles in between. This is a good way to have a lazy Susan with items you can find at the dollar store.
I definitely found that after moving here. Our previous home had so many drawers, there were basically three “junk drawers.” Now I’m seeing maybe those things can fit better in an office space, laundry cabinet, garage, etc.
I always had the utensil holder the other way too. I think because that's how my mother had it and that back compartment never got used. It's where things went to never be seen again. Turning it around does make so much more sense!
Hi Kellie!!!1 I love hearing your joy and appreciation of your home
I have eight children in this same space, and yes it is tight. We love our smaller town home.
So glad you’re loving your small space well ❤️
For reducing height of instant pot, turn lid upside down and place on top of pot. That worked for me in sliding my pot onto to a shelf where I thought the pot was too tall when pot lid was right side up. Still can store my steamer basket and little wire rack inside.
Thank you!
I put pullout drawers in the lower section and left the 1/2 shelf at the top. That works well for me.

Love the way you worded that! Yes, it’s not a one and done process and “being friends with that” is such a lovely concept!

@Virginialangford6257 You're doing really well for being a single mom of 3! I know its not an easy road; I've been on it many years. God Bless!

👍🏽 #43… Appreciate this video so much. My husband and I live in a 950 sq home and organizing has been a trial and error for me 😅
So glad you found it helpful!

A banquette! That’s exactly what I need! Thanks!
You’re welcome! We love ours!
I’m literally going through my tiny kitchen with you and switching things out and using your ideas as I go. lol you’re amazing!
If you or your husband are handy, you can use wood and make your own drawer dividers right in the drawer - very inexpensive and it looks great!
Great tip!
My cabinets are like yours and we put in 2 tier metal pull out drawers side by side. No need to remove cabinet door divider but remove that half shelf inside. You have a lovely kitchen.
That’s nice to know we have that option! Thanks for your kind words 🙂
Leaving that center support is correct to prevent sag. Drawers can easily be added without removal.
Make sure you buy the correct dimensions. Metal cabinet insert drawers . Consist 2 tiers per pullout drawer. I have this in all my bottom kitchen cabinets .

You have done a great job making the most of your space! I have a small older farmhouse that was built in 1925. I can relate to making the space work for you for that season. You have made a lovely home. ❤
Thanks so much! I bet your home is lovely!

thanks for all the tips. Live in small house and husband is in a wheelchair. So we are constantly looking for ideas
Thanks for watching- so glad this can be helpful to your living situation!
Your kitchen appears to be well organized to me. Everything has its place. You know where to find it when needed, and most importantly, the items that are used most often are easily available. Love your kitchen!
Thank you for your kind words ❤️ still have room for improvement, but I really enjoy our kitchen!
You are doing a wonderful job. The part that makes me most happy is that you are home schooling! You have given me some great ideas for when I am finally able to move out of the city and downsize. Thank you for a great video and showing us how you manage to make it work so well. 😄❤
Thank you Margaret ☺️
Get professional advice from cabinet maker regarding that center support of your lower cabinets. Think it may be necessary support for countertop!
I think you're right!
Hi there, put your measuring spoons and cups sticky hooks on the inside of your cupboard doors. Space savers
Thanks for the tip!
I enjoyed your organization video. I will be moving to a smaller home so these tips are very useful.
So glad you found this helpful! Best of luck with your upcoming move!
Thank you for showing us your real space!
Glad you enjoyed it!
We're a family of 7 (with a teen and preteens) in an 1100 sq ft apartment. I'm always trying to simplify, but i also realize we don't have tons of stuff, just lots of people in a small space. Bedrooms are 8x11 and we have a "one booty kitchen" 😂. Making the best of it, but a house would be nice.
really some great idea's for storage.
Thanks!
Magnetized fridge clips can hold pot holders and gloves and a string bag for kitchen laundry.😊😊😊
Great ideas!
That’s a great idea! Thanks for sharing!
Great video! I have a very small kitchen as well, 1 base cabinet, one corner cabinet and 2 deep drawers and the tall pantry cabinet. I’ve been scratching my head to get it all organized. At I don’t have much of anything, just things that we really use.
I hope you can find some solutions that work well for your space! Thank you for watching 🙂
Looking forward to this series! We live in a modular home of 1, 000 Sq ft in FL during the winter & your organization of your home will translate well for us here.
It really was a teachable moment for me a few videos ago when you said that your Grandmother never said that her home was too small to have people over. I loved that! It's easy to make excuses about how we can't practice hospitality, isn't it?
It certainly is ❤️ thanks for watching and glad this was helpful for you!
Thank you for the tips!
Thanks for watching!
To better organize the silverware turn them around, handle in, eating part out. That way you know what is what and the inner plastic area of the crate isn’t as crowded.
Thank you for this series! It’s so needed in my life. Struggling to make things fit in our small house.
I totally understand. I hope it can be helpful for you and your small house!
New subscriber. I look forward to seeing more of your videos from other rooms of your house.
Thanks for subscribing!
For the benches, could you use those wire things and store some of the casserole does vertical? I do that in my corner cabinet. Also we had a knife holder that attached to the underside of our upper cabinets and pulled down so we didn’t have to have them in drawers, but didn’t have them on the counter either.
I’ll have to explore that option!
Excited for this series!! We are living in a small space too, and even when we move we plan for it to still be on the smaller side!
Thanks for watching!!
Hey! I use the same silverware storage and I turn the spoons and forks so I can see them!! Works great for me! Might help to try? 💞
Thanks for the tip!
You shared a lot of really useful ideas! Although we don’t live in a small house, I enjoy seeing your organizational tips. We definitely have certain cabinets that tend to be more full than I would like. I might just work on that today. 😃 Thanks for sharing! God bless! 🩷

Love this video, I really like your color scheme. What color is your cabinets, just love it.
Hi! We have been very happy with it!
thank you very helpful. I am living in a small home
Glad you found it helpful!
I think it’s crazy how in some countries this house is considered small. This is a normal house were I live
Fr, my kitchen is half this size with only 2 cupboards and 1 drawer. I agree her kitchen is pretty much the average size for my country 🤷
That is very interesting! It’s definitely comfortable enough for our needs, but smaller than the kitchen we had before. May I ask where both of you are from?
Thanks Kellie. I have a small house too and these organization tips are helpful. Great video!
Thank you Annie!
What is the color paint for your cabinets?? It’s such a beautiful sage color!

Thank you for showing your mobile home. I live in one also. Question? Can you turn the silverware around so the forks and spoons face you?
Good thought, thank you!
great video.. try turning your forks and spoons around. They might fit better
Thanks for the tip!
I don t even have darwer . And half or cabinet . Wow where is your dishes is very similar . I sold my house to go in small apartment . My spices is on top my stove
New sub! You just popped up in my feed. Small spaces caught my eye. Can you please share the paint color on your cabinets? Love it! ❤

Why do you have both a crock pot and an Instapot? The Instapot is multipurpose.
Hi I just found you on here love your content so I subscribe
Thanks Sadie, so glad you’re here!
Hi!
Your kitchen is beautiful!
I have a small kitchen also and your ideas are great!
What color are your cabinets?
They are so beautiful ❤
Hi!
Please, what paint and color are your kitchen cabinets. Love the color. Nice organization in there.

@@yardsalesquad I appreciate you sharing the information!
Hello Kellie, Happy New Year!
May I know where you bought those wire risers for your kitchen shelves? I appreciate your reply..
Hi! I actually have found them at thrift stores, but they can be found at most larger stores (homegoods, TJ Maxx, target, Walmart) as well as Amazon!
How does your over the stove pans rotate?
Most likely, those two round cake pans are stacked with some marbles in between. This is a good way to have a lazy Susan with items you can find at the dollar store.
You still have shelves
Now I’m rethinking my junk drawer in the kitchen for utensils 🤔… I feel like I’m not utilizing the space appropriately
I definitely found that after moving here. Our previous home had so many drawers, there were basically three “junk drawers.” Now I’m seeing maybe those things can fit better in an office space, laundry cabinet, garage, etc.

This is huge compared to my house
I put my spices in a plastic box.
It's nice to see how you organize, but to describe each piece/item. People can see: just do a faster overview. Much tooook detailed
This is not a small space
