Haha glad someone noticed that! Thanks for the kind words
I love Spain. They are just OP from beginning to end and just get stronger as the game goes. Plus you get to roleplay holy crusades on just every body.
The only mediocre thing you could say for spain its that its uncomfortably far away from the holy land
@@imaginehavingpfp5779 But it's ocean all the way, ship travel makes up for the distance compared to those that are landlocked or those who have to sail around the continent.
@@MartinTraXAA ship travel on crusades is a bad idea because the game is retarded and considers sailing to the crusade target as straying too far to it causing many desertions
When the Scholars find out that the world is round and might discover a new world.
Meanwhile, Pilps immediately prepared: alright let do it.
As if he is from the future
Oh, people already knew the world was round at this point. The 3rd Century BCE Greek scientist Eratosthenes had even managed to accurately calculate the circumference of the globe, and his writings were known to medieval Christian scholars.
Columbus’ idea was that the world was actually smaller, which he was completely wrong about (probably explains why he seemingly believed that he’d landed in Asia right up to his death).
I needed that Aztec Gold, Tobacco & Chocolate!
@@Cybermat47No, that's wrong too. Columbus did think the world was slightly smaller, but his main mistake was he thought Asia was much larger.
Which, given his main source was Marco Polos "days travelled", is pretty understandable.
@@neohyberboreantechnosteppe3185 I’ll have to look into that, my knowledge of Columbus and American history is honestly very shallow.
As a Hispanic American, I was waiting for you to make this video a long time ago and it was worth it for the jokes and the quality of the editing. You got the perfect game with Castile (Spain): expel the Moors, ignore the Portuguese, make life miserable for the French, bad relations with the English, take southern Italy from the Kingdom of Sicily and conquer the Aztecs; all with a lot of gunpowder, swords and pikes, in addition to religion. For me, the best moments, for being quite cinematic, were your confrontations with the Aztecs, with perfect pike formations and the arquebusiers firing mercilessly. XD
Thank you for the very kind words and glad you enjoyed it! It was a very fun campaign to do and edit, thank you!

I love the Portugal was like: Imma do nothing this round.
I love playing Spain, especially love the units, my favorite Almughavars armored piercing and have good melee on the walls can defeat any heavy unit.
There's something about M2TW gunpowder units that just hits the spot, I don't know what it is but it just does it for me.
Yah, they have that extra feeling to them, that makes them feel more than just slightly harder hitting crossbows with smoke coming out.
They actually drop a man with the force of a bus, there's smoke effects, lovely animations and thunderous firing sounds.
The firing sounds of the muskets or arquebussy is so good I can't describe it 😍
Yeah I was playing napoleon the other day and it felt so bland
The M2TW combat engine really made you feel the weight of crossbow and gunpowder units. It’s so satisfying to shred an enemy unit with a well-timed volley. I used to love doing custom battles with thousands of musketeers.
Nice video!!! Love the Spanish in medieval 2 cheers from Mexico!!!! 🇲🇽🇲🇽🎉🎉
Narcos theme fits perfectly for the Reconquesta TBH
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Your ancestors are ashamed of you
Spanish: this is a pretty nice planet, I’ll take it
See that land? I TAKE IT
41:27 Spain's ending is the cannonical ending 😎
jinetes are actually surprisingly good versus timurid elephants. In my game I was really strugling to counter cannon elephants with just crossbowmen, but jinetes stack whcih goes hunting for the elephants worked pretty well. I think jinetes have some hidden bonus with javelins against the elephants. this was in base game medieval 2.
Javelins have a bonus against elephants even all the way back in Rome 1.
Weapons which are considered "thrown" have a bonus against units with multiple HP. The more HP the target has, the more effective the thrown weapon is against it.
jinetes are good against everything so its not that surprising. they feel like having a squad of short range rifle men. they shred like swiss cheese
When Pilps uploads a Spain video, I think it's one of the very few moments in history where everyone can see and expect the Spanish inquisition coming from a million miles away
That lil veiled clip of the Battle of Rocroi added a very magnificent touch to your vid. Perfect flair to the Tercio onslaught.
Thank you! It had to be done!
Can't wait for the remastered version of this game. Imagine playing with each individual country at that time.
I'm eager for "The Milan Experience." Because Milan is a very OP faction. Their town and city military units (with armor) are better than castle units, and crossbow militia is better than peasant crossbowmen. This means you can train your best armies from cities, and change all your castles to towns to make more money. It's ridiculously overpowered when you have siege equipment. I've conquered entire factions in just a handful of turns.
As a spaniard great video, well done representing spain , SANTIAGO CIERRA ESPAÑA!!!
WHY Is this game so good? Honestly, it scares me how good this game is. I just started playing it one day and I was hooked.
I felt a great disturbance. As if millions of Aztecs cried out in terror, and then were suddenly silenced.
Then I see this and now all makes sense.

Portugal: *whistles and places glasses on while Spain conquers their enemies*
Bro, your editing skills are insane and Total War fans the world over are blessed to have someone so competent and funny making them memes like this. Bravo!
Hey you cant colonise all of the Americas and conquer most of Europe
Pilps: Actually I can because I have 5,000,000,000 power in Rise of Kingdoms.
Fun fact: at the moment Tenochtitlan was besieged by the spaniards, the numbers were like this:
*Mexica empire numbers in the city:
-100-200k warriors
-400 war canoes.
Spanish coalition (yes, coalition)
-800-1200 spanish infantrymen.
-86 spanish horsemen.
-200k indian auxiliars.
-50k-80k tlaxcaltecs
-40k texcocans
Hence, the story about how 500* spanish dudes conquered a fully garrisoned city was a hoax.
Now the summary of what the spanish witness after the battle: since all their allies were basically mega-pissed off vassals of the mexica empire, their sacking were brutal even for aztec standards: men, women and children were brutalized, impaled, and even eaten, everything was no spared, their nobles were basically fried on burn oil (hmmm, crispy) and the first messages the spaniards sent to the crown in Spain were: they need Jezus like A LOT.
Thanks for coming for my ted talk.
I know Portugal is basically a Spain reskin in Total War, but do you plan on making the Portugal Experience? Cheers and great video chief
Magellan campaign gameplay ❤
Portugal experience be like: *Game doesn't even include the entirety of the african continent for it to be possible to replicate the portuguese experience*
@@Joaosantos22114
That doesn't matter, this is a medieval game starting in the 11th century, the Portuguese experience consists in the Reconquista and wars with Castile.
The problem is that the game doesnt have enough provinces in Iberia for the real Portuguese Experience.
@@FaithfulOfBrigantia Except the new world is included, and the portuguese discoveries started by 1415 which can also be considered a "continuation" of the crusade. Plus, I study portuguese history and the start of the discoveries period does include the late medieval period but chronological barriers are artificial limiters for differentes periods and we can all have different opinions on where or when the medieval period ends.
But the main argument is: the medieval portuguese experience DOES include the early period of the discoveries, especially since the game ends in 1530 when the portuguese had established a thalassocracy in India by the early 16th century, and held the african monopoly since 1434 (and had discovered Madeira in 1419!).
@@Joaosantos22114
Having the New World for Portugal is pointless, since the colonization of Brazil does not consist in battles and sieges like the game represents.
The early Portuguese naval efforts in Africa are also pointless, as it consists in exploration and fort building, nothing alike total-war like battles and sieges.
The Portuguese efforts in the Indian Ocean do have plenty of battles and sieges, but the nature of total makes it so that the naval element of it (which was the most significant element in most cases) is non-existent.
You could make an argument for Morocco, yet the Portuguese didn't actually seize any significant territory, only coastal cities that would require an unbelievably larger map that would have so many provinces that all these small territories could be represented.
The timeline argument also isn't valid, as if you are designing Portugal to sit around doing absolutely nothing for 170 turns, it's a bad design and the civilization shouldn't exist.
Finally, and partially related to the previous point, it's ultimately making a massive dis-service to Portuguese history.
Portugal HAS a medieval history, it's a very interesting history and the perfect setting for medieval themed video-games, but it is very unfortunately always, ALWAYS overshadowed by the the discoveries taking the entire spotlight.
Every time Portugal is featured in a medieval-themed videogame, it's designed in an Early-Modern Colonial light, from it's units, to it's architecture, aesthetics, and strategies. And it's rich medieval History is completely ignored.
At the end of the day, the Reconquista and the Wars with Castile are FAR more impressive feats of medieval Portuguese tenacity and military prowess, than sailing a boat across the globe, bombing cities. And I'm sick of the former being overshadowed by the latter.
At the end of the day, i reject the premiss that the Portuguese discoveries are included in the Medieval period. Maybe in English or French Medieval periods, but that's the thing about historical periods, they begin and end at later periods depending on the place. For example, the Iron Age in Iberia lasted until the 1st Century B.C but in Scandinavia it lasted until the 11th A.D.
Likewise, the transition between Medieval to Early Modern begins in Italy with the Renaissance in the 14th century, but in England the Renissance only began in the 16th.
Personally i mark the Portuguese transition from Medieval into Early-Modern period the moment they conquer Ceuta in 1415.
I was so happy to see Portugal at the end

23:37 tip for pick and shot. Put your gunners legit in the pikes so they can shoot more then slowly pull them out. Have your pikes on defensive mode, stack pike units. Pike squares still work very well. Flank using gunners to shoot from the sides. Great job using the mounted gunners btw.

Your videos made me try out JLMP's mod. It's so strange feeling nostalgic about a closer to vanilla experience. Great mod had fun. (I been on Stainless Steel since forever)
i didnt play either SS or JLMP mod. what do you suggest my friend
@@emreipek420 JLMP's is the one that Pilps is playing in this video, and is closer to vanilla. It has most of the Kingdoms factions, around 40 added regions, and you can choose to start in 1200 or 1236
SS is much bigger, with 199 regions (around +90 compared to vanilla)! Compared to the vanilla map, it's expanded most east and doesn't have the New World. It also has a ton of features added, with new buildings and units. Because of this, it can take getting used to at first. You can choose to start in 1100 or 1220
For me I haven't completed a campaign for either, but imo, they are both great mods. If you're a beginner/new to Medieval, or want to be able to go to the new world, I'd probably suggest JLMP first. If you want a massive campaign, pick SS. Hope this helps!
@@gunner811 so vanilla rework vs almost new game. and now i found SSHIP too. i just want to play with most historicaly accurate one without that much change. did you heard SSHIP ? is this very different than SS?

This sub-mod is one of, if not the most historically accurate version of Medieval II. Although it has quite a lot of changes, even more so compared to SS, it seems to explain the mechanics in good detail, so I don't think it'll take long to get used to
