It's been glorious to see the editing skills of this channel grow from the original Otomo Experience video. You've done a great job Pilps (and your team has as well, if you have one that is) and I hope to see more great content soon.
Thank you for the very kind words! I truly feel I’m improving gradually with each episode! And I wish I had a team 🤣 I edit all my videos myself!
@@Pilpsthat’s so £
I have to say, having played most Total War games on record at this point, you are a unique individual who's able to switch thinking so easily between factions, your strategy, philosophy, diplomacy and tactics all reflect this. While the memes are hilarious it's astonishing to see, especially on such high difficulties that you play. Keep on fighting soldier!
Thank you so much! I try and make every campaign different with their unique units and different factions! Thank you
Pilps when making trade agreements: "I'm gonna make them an offer they can't refuse"
So true!!
I think you are one of the few who is ballsy enough to take on the mongals on the open field and succeed
Pikes are a life saver!
Pikes and crossbows.
@@dayros2023 and money!!!
and imagine when they're wandering around in stacks (which they love).. truly a devastation.
Mongols in open field is more tedious attrittion than anything else IMO. You just spam armored (optimally Pavise) crossbowmen plus armored spear- or pikemen and then meatgrinder that shit. Toss in a couple field artillery pieces optionally.
Timurids are kinda the same, except you definitely want some cannons to mulch those stupid elephants with.
Ah Venice, the first faction I played as, and probably my favorite. Just such a good campaign.
Oh shit, this is a new level of editing! Made as always legendary :)
Thank you very much!
I think most of us Total War lovers agree at that point that we dont need another fantasy genre. We just want the good old games like Medieval in new, for me personally they dont need to change that much of the Game Mechanics. More Provinces, on top graphic and synchonised fights, just a modernised Version of Medieval 2. Likewise for Shogun 2. Perhaps even Rome 2. No new Game Mechanics just a modern graphic, blood, same factions and units. Just new graphics and modernised models. Thats it. And 80% of Total War Community will even pre order these games.
No Hero/General stuff like Three Kingdoms and Troy.
Nah game of thrones or lord of the rings total war game would slap although i do want me some new medieval one
Medieval Europe is still something both so fascinating and hilarious at the same time
The animation with the 3D helmets looks amazing.
That bridge battle in Egypt was also epic ... And a close run thing.
Yes finally the return of the king 👑
Aaaaaaaaayeeeee
17:58 it’s crazy how big the battles where in Mid Total War 2. Now you have these tiny mini game feeling battles in games like Three Kingdoms.
I wish there was a way to like a video more than once. I keep going back to the like button every time I burst into laughter even tho I already liked the video
Thank you so much for the kind words!
Venezia la Serenissima hits me in a sweet spot in this game. Not only because I live less than an hour from it, but also because it’s always fun to play as a mercantile colonial empire in the Middle Ages and by far the strongest Italian faction.
Early game Venice is kinda mediocre (militia units are way better than most early castle units) but my lord… Mid to late game Venetian army is overpowered, it’s infantry in particular. If coupled with a good complement of mortars, you are unstoppable.
I always bring AT LEAST four of those bastards when I’m attacking in a siege. The enemy walls become your best friends when you bring up the shiny hammer lads.
I'm glad you let the "holy crusade called" video play. I never skip it either. Even to this day, it is such a badass video. I'm glad they incorporated it for 1212 ad.
Its absolutely wonderful that you play in Italy as my 2nd favorite Italian nation
Aaaaaayeeeee
Venice is the definition of “who needs friends when I have gold”.
To me, a descendant of italian migrants from the Veneto region, this is GLORIOUS! Viva San Marco!

As a good Honest Roman, this video makes my blood boil, but, great video! Loving your camera work and the subtle ways you are improving over time, even the simple camera panning over the battle shots have gotten so much better than before.
Roman? 🤣
I never was really into the medieval total wars but pilps vids alone made me love the game. Great vid as always
Venetian, heavy infantry really do just look like a medieval update to the Roman legionary.
Funnily enough, the "Fanti da Mar" or the Venetians heavy infantry embarked in their galleys, used that kind of shield with either a heavy mace, Hammer or a falcione (particular type of sword).
Amazing editing once again. Maybe your best so far. I’ve been following you since the Otomo video. I hope to see some Divide and Conquer mod (DAC) content in the future
The first time I won a game as Venice in Civ V, it was on the back of an unstoppable economy. I basically bought my way into space. Nobody else could compare. And as I watched that victory screen, there was only one thing I could think...
The motto is not "life from the sea". It's "cash rules everything around me."
Money makes the world go around.

Oh bro, the monk and the music at the start, hit me with so much nostalgia. Me and probably most of you out there can remember the first time booting up MK2 as a kid and experience the intro for the first time. 😢
They don’t make them like they use to anymore, still one of the greats!
The editing, the gameplay, the small details in videos... man, I kept laughing through the entire video like crazy
Especially at the 8:10 part when that flying roundhouse 720 degree kick came in lol

The one thing i'll say about Medieval 2 is that the music from its intro to the ending credits is freaking amazing
Love to see new content:D amazing video as usual!!
Yo Pilps really had to flex with that 4-way boxed defense. You need to get with @HistoriaCivilis and get him to do a battle recap of that from above. That was the best defeat-in-detail methodology I've seen, myself included.
Dude thank you for the channel recommendation, will have to check them out! Also thank you! It was extremely stressful but such a fun close call defeat
@@Pilps like lol they had 5 to 1 with surrounding advantage on open terrain and you expertly ordered men to be defensive until the enemy was weakened then ordered to attack that weakened position, then shifted men from each front to reinforce faltering fronts.
The ottomans had a definitive, pyrric victory.

The path from the Venetian Republic to the Venetian Trade Empire. Great game, great mod. Thanks for the video, great content. Greetings from Russia.
the battle of Konya (the last one) must not have been the easiest, when you see the Turkish units in front
The battle you did on 3 fronts at the same time must have been amazing, I did one on Rome 2, I played Carthage (2000 men) against Rome (8000 men), I won it thanks to my Javeliniers, but it was crazy, I didn't have many on M2TW
I love overrunning a settlement with endless amounts of utter gunpowder superiority!

Oh yes, I've been waiting for this!
30:05 what a battle. Bloody hell! Amazing editing again!
It was awesome that you demonstrated how pikemen and heavily armored units should be used during the field battle against the Mongols. The pikes tie up the cavalry while the Venetian heavy infantry and dismounted knights charge in on the flanks. (17:57 and 18:15)
Thank you! Mongols are tough in open battle but not unbeatable!
@@Pilps You're welcome! I should have subscribed earlier, but I just now did so and better late than never. I'll have some catching up to do! Looking forward to the content, especially the MTW2 stuff. 😀

I would love to see more MTW2 content creators use pikemen as they are used in this video. Yes, it takes some micromanaging, but pikes fit the historical part of the late-game experience.
Fun fact Venice actually pioneered the model that turned Briton into the worlds largest empire.
A strong navy ensures trade. Taxes on trade fund a larger and better trained navy. The larger navy allows for more trade which funds a bigger navy.
