Thank You for this. I learned about this along time ago working as a Mechanic in regards to the pinch welds, and where you Jack up a vehicle in the thickest portion of it. Even when we used our lifts in the shop that is exactly where the pads are placed when aligning it to lift up the vehicles. Your Pad you use on your Floor Jack is perfect with the Criss Style slots so the Pinch Weld falls perfect in between without doing damage. Many people will appreciate what your showing them, and it will be very helpful on the new Maverick. I've seen other videos and they did not know or how to Jack up the Maverick. Anyways, Thank You very bringing some helpful and useful info for current and or future Ford Maverick owners. 😎👍

There are small triangles near the pinch weld to show where the jack should be positioned. Ford should make a better way to do this.

I have a question. I see the arrow, so you normally put a floor jack there. But what if you want to lift the truck and put 4 jack stand? if you lift in the arrow part, the jack stand will not be in the arrow section bec. the floor jack is there to lift the truck? So it's ok to put the jack stand beside it like in the video? Thanks.

Many other cars have a notch in the pinch weld, showing where to fit the jack. Surprised Ford didn't include this.

Great video! Thanks for not mumbling forever about the flex bed. We are all looking forward to actual real world advice. Never heard of "pinch joints".

Thank you sir for posting this video. I've always just pushed a jack under my truck. No telling what kind of damage is under there.

Great information, I had never even thought of jack and jack stand pads before this . ( but then my 2007 Ranger has a full frame ) The pads appear to be a necessity for jacking a Unibody Maverick . I plan to install Gatorback mudflaps on my Maverick. Your video is a very helpful ! Thank you

One thing you totally missed about jacking up the maverick is there are designated spots that you should use and there are arrows on the bottom of the panel that point to those areas. You can see one at 10:52 in the video right at the edge of the screen not using those locations can damage your vehicle

    • @clos1764
      @clos1764 5 месяцев назад +1

Correct. Those arrows are there for jacking points but also for balancing of the vehicle. Unibodies have been around for many decades. You can use the entire length of the pinch weld if you have to, never had a single issue or damage on many of my cars. The Maverick is no different., it has a very rigid pinch weld that supports the whole vehicle.

Those pinch weld adapters are a pretty cool, and it looks like they help keep the jack and jack stands more secure. I knew they existed, but I think this video is the first time I've seen them in use. Thank you!

So on that subject can you show the page from the owner's manual on how to use the factory jack?
I don't have a Maverick truck but I'm interested to see what they do.
Did you have a link to show how you jack up the Tacoma that you had, 3rd gen?

Love that jack pad. Think I'll buy one! If you're making a "safety" video, you should IMHO definitely chock both front & rear of both low-side wheels (4 places). If you have a wheel off and an earthquake nudges baby off the jack stands, there won't be enough ground clearance left to save you. Slide that wheel under the edge of the vehicle for insurance. I have an 8x10x12" cube welded up from 1-1/2" heavy angle iron that I use for insurance when the wheels are on. Just sayin'...

That rubber part on the stand needs to be more shallow. You can see it deflect the black plastic outer trim piece.

You jack side handle forces you to put the jack stands pretty far away from the recommended reinforced area of pinch weld.

I have the same xlt hybrid in blue velocity with sunroof, lux pack in transit. Expected delivery in may 2022. Here in the north region we switch to winter tires in winter..and switch back to summer tires in april. For small seddan cars i usually switch tires my self but suv and truck i call a guy who does just that for $75.. The tire guy never use jack point probably because he jack everything so rapidly that there is no time for the jack to fail. And with the helper he also jack two at a time.. same side though. My personal jack is the one i bought from costco. I have the exact same rubber wheel block thing.. jacking a vehicle is a serious thing. Even pro s in garage take their time to triple check on the lift before lifting a vehicle. People had died trying to fix their own car. I personally never crawl under a lifted car ever,, even to grab a bolt. I crawl under only if all 4 wheels are on a level ground.. and tired blocked with brake on.

I went out and looked at my pinch welds the arrow the marks where to put jack shows it going to the pinch weld having only two layers of thickness. the three layers is to side of the two layer width sections. Any comments about that?
Is your jack pad resting under the three layers thickness of pinch weld or two layer or is it best to place the jack stand under the 3 layers or two layer of pinch weld? thank you

Hey how about that has milage on those A/T tires? I was considering the exact same ones for my hybrid XLT. I'll likely end up keeping the stock tire size though. If the impact is minor I'll end up getting them too. Keep the content coming!

Mavericks are unibody trucks so lifting it vs a body on frame truck like my old Tacoma is different.
