I have found so many treasures going thru old photos that belonged to my parents, grandparents, and great grandparents! I have scanned thousands of photos on to my computer and then created a digital family tree! I also use digital picture frames that randomly display photos!

Excellent point to pay attention to how I feel and pay attention to what I have ‘accomplished’!
I take a picture on my phone of what I have accomplished. This gives me a ‘picture’ if what I’ve done in that short time.

My Mom has stage 4 cancer. I opened up the conversation about needing to release and let go of things. I also understood her reluctance around this subject; that it was not just about decluttering- but coming to peace with that she will not need the vast majority of what is here. Accepting her morality itself. I backed off even though it was causing me considerable stress. I stopped bringing this up out of respect on her timeline.
However my Mom one day made a unilateral decision to get rid of stuff and initiate moving without taking my feelings into it and now I am on a timeline not of my choosing and I am paralysed by overwhelm. Also she chose someone else to start this with.
I am sitting in an apartment messy and unorganized under a time constraint to get everything out. And I am unsure of where I am going to live myself.
I deferred the my Mom out of respect and anxiety and I am at serious overwhelm. My sister lives overseas and has not asked about any of this.
    🤦🏽‍♀️
    Wish me luck.

I too don't say what brings me joy, because it all brings joy. I took some containers, and put in,less containers, but as for linens I put in sets which works for me as I'm visual. I need to put less walls how to do, that?

In the past, donation companies would come into the home and remove the item even if it was up the stairs or in the living room or another room. Now they want people who are donating to have the item in the garage. I cannot move items to the garage unless they are lightweight. This puts a huge damper on my donating. I have to pay someone to move the item from one room to another, in order to donate it!

Contact Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts to help you move things to your garage. Donate $ to them. Take a tax write-off!!
Church members may help you for free. It’s worth asking for help.
I am age 72 with a broken ankle here in Jan 2022. . I can’t walk yet. But I can sit in a chair and box up things from a drawer to donate.
      Good luck with your decluttering!!
      You have options!!

@@patschneider5671 Hope your situation is improving. Thanks for the suggestion. One of my main problems is asking for help. And I don't know why! You're not only missing the chance to make new relationships( could be lifesaving (meant to say life changing.,. Could be life Changing and or Lifesaving)for you and à young person). My parents died in a car accident when i was 8. I had 2relationships with older people that changed t the direction of my life.

I hate that we get inundated with junk mail. I have learned that in some countries junk mail is not permitted. Junk mail may help a business but actually in my opinion it doesn't, it just turns me off. That we should have to work at getting junk mail out of our homes is a burden. It is forced upon us in spite of people complaining about it for years. Along with it plastic bags. And the government tells us we should be good stewards of the environment! Ha! It cuts into our time no matter what we do to deal with it.

Send the junk mail back and tell them to "remove my name from your mailing list"

I’m new to your channel. I bought my stuff with respect for it. I’m one of the rare ladies who loves to iron clothing! Ha! I had a fall in Sept, broke my ankle n 3 places, lost weight. Now sending my 2x clothing to friends in other states who wear same size.
    I’ve dropped 30 lbs! Won’t return to 2x.
But things like clothing, shoes, costume jewelry can be donated ir given to others. Or have a yard sal this summer to get ‘some cash’.
Household items, especially kitchen items, I accumulate also. Many churches will take the items, sell, church gets funds and people get more household items. Check sldo fir military groups you could donate your items to!
Love your tips and a great show!!
