Hi both. Hope you're well. Not a huge fan of mint based snacks but used to love Viscount biscuits which I think you may have tried previously Definitely a favourite growing up
Hi JonnoD, thank you, hope you are well too! You're correct, we did try Viscount biscuits, they remind us a bit of our Girl Scout cookies we occassionally find here. Loved the Viscounts :) Hope you have a great weekend :)
Hi James, Happy Friday! Ohhhhh thank you! Love the idea, thank you! Sounds like a wonderful idea to try - we're having a heat wave here, nice way to cool down :) Big thank you!
I love the taste of peppermint and the taste of chocolate and they go well together but Kendal mint cake is loaded with sugar, I suppose up those Cumbrian hills it would come in useful, especially when the weather turns nasty and you're getting soaked and the wind is howling around you, I've never seen spearmint and chocolate and I don't know if you can get it, unless Richard knows anything, have a nice weekend.
Hi Michael, completely agree - we love the taste of peppermint with and without chocolate. You're right, it seems like the only spearmint products we've come across here are either breath mints or chewing gum where as pepper mint(with or without chocolate) is more for sweets/candies. Loved all the fine items we tried, especially with a heat wave going on over here right now :) Have a great weekend!
Wikipedia: There are several theories about the derivation of the name 'Cuillin'. One suggestion is that it comes from the Old Norse word kjölen, which literally means the keel of a boat, suggesting a similarity with an upturned Viking longship. Peter Drummond, in Scottish Hill and Mountain Names (1991), noted that this is also a name of the Scandinavian Mountains and says it can mean 'high rocky mountain'.
My other half used to make Tablet & millionaire's shortbread every so often - tablet is so sweet I could only manage one small bite, preferred the shortbread - also sweet. Alas no longer can I even try these (diabetic) lol. Mintcake also too sweet for me but very nice! Love to see the smile spread across Ross's face when dark choc enters the equation lol.
Hi Jeff, sorry you can't enjoy these treats anymore. Hopefully there are some good sugar free options for treats. We both love millionaire's shortbread and we've only tried store bought versions. Ross does love that dark chocolate!
i remember years ago when i was younger and rock climbing in the welsh hills, i forgot sugar for my tea, but i had a few bars of kendals mint cake, so i broke some off and put that in my tea... i think we were at South Stack, in Anglesey... they were days i didnt mind hieghts now im older and more wiser i dont like hieghts lol
Hi Tina and Ross hope you’re well I love the mint cake but you really can’t have to much of it love all things mint hope you have a great weekend we might not England are playing tomorrow fingers crossed x
Mint Cake/Tablet...So tasty, but lethal for the gnashers! 😬 😅 Have a great weekend and keep safe. Hope you're not too affected by the smoke from the forest fires. Take care.
It reminds me a lot of maple sugar candy that we get here. I'm not sure why I brought that candy up to my dental hygienist years ago, but he said I shouldn't tell him about eating it! The air looks fine and while we smelled a bit of smoke the past few days, we didn't smell it this morning. Though it seems more fires keep breaking out.
there used to be a mint sweet Clarnico Mint Creams I believe they were spearmint rather than peppermint, but it's been a long time they were individually wrapped sweets originally sold from the jar by weight very much later they started to appear in packs they were slightly unusual, very strong smell had a sort of crust on the outside a solid softish centre really minty but for some could be a little ickily sweet sold for many years till they went bust production was taken over by another company but apparently they went bust as well lost to history and those with long memories
Hi Elizabeth, we love it with the mint flavor. So the sugar mice don't have any added flavors? The maple candy we have is very similar, just with a maple flavoring.

If you melt it in vodka you get an amazing tasting mint liqueur, it really slips down easy, there is also a brown sugar version.

You've got your Kendal Mint Cake, now put on you hiking gear & shoes & go for a 30 mile walk in the hills & mountains. 😁
Now I feel guilty for eating them on the couch! 😁
@@FinnLovesFood KMC is used by hikers, climbers and mountaineers as a convenient source of energy. Glad you liked it, don't feel guilty😁
@@FinnLovesFood but you did manage to hike from the table to the couch , so it counts
@@johnhankinson1929 I'll take that! Too hot for hiking here anyway. 😃
@@FinnLovesFood we've still got our coats on here in Lancashire and it's supposed to be the middle of summer , no global warming here
We used to have Kendal mint cakes in our ration packs when we were out on an exercise - love them!
They are very good and the chocolate covered ones are even better yet!

Great vid love after eights never had the others 💯💯💯😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Thanks Maxine. We love After Eights too. Chocolate and mint is a fabulous combination!
I like Kendal's mint cake and love After Eight mints, especially from the fridge. Tablet is too sweet for me.
Hi Ruth. That was our first taste of tablet. It's very sweet - I think I can only eat a small amount at a time.
@@FinnLovesFood Yes, a very small amount. Pretty much pure sugar.
Problem is I can eat a whole after eight packet in one go😂

I like the taste of spearmint even more than peppermint. Sounds nice.
Have you tried Fry's chocolate creme they are the best ❤
Hope you're both well
Thanks, hope you are too. We've tried some Fry's chocolate bars, like the mint. We do have a chocolate cream still yet to try.
Cuillin is said like kooluhn
Thanks Steve. Had a feeling we would pronounce it wrong!
Love, love kendal mint cake. Also had sugar mice as a child, again, pure sugar, just no mint taste

Hello. I have a sweet tooth, but i think i would find the mint cake far too sweet for me
Hi Graham. It is pretty sweet.
Never been a fan of mint cake , i don't like the texture and it's far too sweet
Hi John. It is a bit grainy. I'm surprised I liked it so much. Though now that we've had the chocolate covered ones, those are my preference!
