    It's a Gangster Stick, my friend. Just re-named/re-branded by other jig companies down here in the Southeast. They've been am excellent style jig for years 👍

      Yeah the mobster is an obvious rip off of the Jigging Master Gangster Stick.

    • @cleancutmhc1
      @cleancutmhc1 2 года назад +1

      Jigging Master probably discontinued the Gangster Stick because of so many knockoffs. From Gangster Stick to “Mobster” is hardly innovative.

    So, I have been loving this slow pitch thing for about a year now here in Key Largo. Like you, I would rather catch 1 fish on the slow pitch than 5 any other way. The variety of species that hit the jig is amazing. However, because we are fishing the bottom predominately (unless we see something higher up in the water column) I find that when “finding” the bottom I get hung up more often than I’d like to admit and sometimes lose several jigs on one outing. Do you have any tips or experience to share that can help me stop getting hung up or is this just part of the deal? - Capt Dan

    In the video you recommend the 250g Mobster Jig but I don't see anything like it on your website. Is there something else would you now recommend for jigging in Marathon in June?

    great video Mike, I would also like to know your opinion on the differences when comparing slow pitch jigging set ups versus traditional medium action high speed spinning.

    • @FloridaSportFishing
      @FloridaSportFishing  2 года назад +2

      Big differences, high speed vertical jigging is easier with spinning outfit, slow pitch with conventional. High speed rods need to be a little stiffer whereas slow pitch are very parabolic (spongy). thats just the beginning. Very informative! I'm a long time subscriber, thank you so much. I'm going to try your jig for targeting mutton snapper in 150ft of water. Since I will be primarily staying within 10 feet off the bottom. Do I need a dedicated "slow pitch" rod? Or can I use my Star "regular" Jigging rod rated for 250 gram Jigs? In other words, will the jig have the same action if I use a standard jigging rod?

    • @FloridaSportFishing
      @FloridaSportFishing  2 года назад

      You can certainly continue to fish with your standard equipment however slow pitch rods are specifically designed to be very parabolic and spongy to jig "pitches" with each motion. You will certainly have more success with specialized tackle but dont say IM NOT GOING b because you dont have a dedicated slow pitch outfit. Start with what you have and go from there. For those of us who fish from Head Boats, the distance to the water is much greater, so landing a fish caught on 30lb line is tricky. (You’d have to gaff everything) How would you adjust for that and maintain balanced tackle?

    • @UserUser-zm3fo
      @UserUser-zm3fo 2 года назад

      Most 30# braid breaks over 40#. If you go heavier the thickness of the line kills the jigs action.

      I fish on a head boat regularly, the Yankee Capts from Key West. Ive caught countless muttons along with dozens of other species from the boat using exact jigging set up, 30 lb braid and 40 lb leader. Thats all you need. Hello Mike . Can ı ask u an expert level question? İf braid is getting tangled up right before the Leader while casting (one foot or so), why it happens? 🤔😥. Too thick leader for braid maybe? Braid 30lb Leader 50 lb. Thanx bro

    • @FloridaSportFishing
      @FloridaSportFishing  2 года назад

      Im trying to understand the question. You're fishing 30 lb braid to a 50 lb mono leader, which is fine. But its tangling on the braid when you cast? @@FloridaSportFishing as ı cast it makes single windknot on first or second ring. And it snaps. İt also sometimes makes alot of sound when casting this time jig drops 1/4 of its regular distance (braid slows itself) thanx man

      @@FloridaSportFishing it makes that windknot on braid about 1 foot after fg knot. I retied fg several times and it is first time ı ever experience this. Braid is ygk upgrade all green.

    So, you’re saying the cheat code alternative to catching Mutton Snapper with jigs is…. fresh Kingfish steaks?
    You might’ve buried the lead here.
