    Love the addition of the planer to our spread. Definitely adds another great way to hook up. We use the bridle but from what I've seen, I think there is a difference in productivity. We have had way more success going directly to planer in line. Keep up the good work capt

    Whats the distance between the planer and spoon. Also do you use a wire trace to avoid losing the spoon?

    what ounce islander do you use with the ballyhoo?

  • @graham.altschuler
    @graham.altschuler 5 лет назад

    Do you rig your ballyhoo or buy them and for the outrigger and shotgun do you use mono or wire?

    • @FloridaSportFishing
      @FloridaSportFishing  5 лет назад +2

      We will rig our own however if I am in a pinch I will certainly fish pre rigged ballyhoo from either Bionic Bait or Baitmasters. When trolling on the edge where wahoo/kings are likely Ill fish wire when dolphin fishing offshore only mono. - Capt Mike

    What size are those alutechnos reels that you pull the planers on and are they 2 speed?

    Are you ever conserned about line getting in the wheels when leaving it in the water

    • @FloridaSportFishing
      @FloridaSportFishing  5 лет назад

      No, because boat is still moving forward at idle speed so line is dragged behind boat. - Capt Mike

    What do you do to prevent planers from breaking off as toothy fish attack them, happened a few days ago to me, fish hit the planer cut through 200 pound braid mainline and lost the planer. I think chafe tubes might be the best way to avoid this but want to know what you would do.

      Hey Justin, we always rig our planers with 1 foot of 120 lbs cable on either side to prevent cut off, it has happened to us before also. Good luck and tight lines.

    I don't understand how you attract a wahoo who is hanging out at 200' with a planer rig that only goes down to 25'...did I miss something...does the leader go deeper than the planer?

    • @FloridaSportFishing
      @FloridaSportFishing  2 года назад

      No, the planer bait may only be 25-50 feet down, and never below the planer. Wahoo will swim deeper in the water column and certainly to 200 feet or more however plenty of wahoo hunt 30-60 feet below where they have no problem seeing and nailing a planer bait. Please join www.FSFTV.com

      The #4 is 200 Ft back, the #8 is 100 ft. back. However this may vary depending on conditions.
