Jason speaking via the bass, so personal, so touching, so beautiful
Lily Munster Yes!
whitout the crow that would be more beautiful
The beginning riff Jason plays is absolutely beautiful. It has the potential to be a great song
Cody Patterson around 1:45 is My friend of Misery.. So there's that at least aha
It is, it's called "My friend of Misery" it's a great song you should check it out, one of my favorite songs by Metallica.
He said the previous than "my friend"
That riff my favourite since long time ago
we miss you jason :(
true
Jason > Rob....
+2112Fade2Black Cliff > every other bassist in the world
Hi is alive!
domant 912 I respectfully disagree. Cliff was a fucking God but not the best. Easy to see why a lot of people looked up to him for inspiration. He was incredible.
Jason's bass during Sanitarium is amazing
It’s in studio version too
Cliff: creativity and best songwriter
Jason: energy and best live performer
Rob: best technical skills
agree 100 percent..
Rob may have the best technical skill (what does it mean anyway?) but he doesn't use them in Metallica
Yeeeppp
Stop with these
Rob better than Cliff?
No matter what, Jason has written one the most melodious bass solos ever. Period.
what a graceful solo between Jason and Kirk
Probably my favorite "Metallica" song
We all miss Jason so much...
The sound, the energy and the tightness in music with Metallica..
we really need that "newsted" back
no we dont we need cliff back
Patrik Nessbo well he's kinda dead so how do you suppose that gets done?
Knight gash Robert it much better
It's Jason Newkid
Cliff is dead he never will be bring back
anyone else feel sorry for jason
not anymore!! He is doing his own thing now, as HE wants it done. I am honest I felt sorry for him at times while still in Metallica, a band I love very much. Although James gave him a hard time every once in a while, I have a gut feeling they cared deeply for one another. They were like brothers in a way. They fought, they make up and they fought some more. Jason made the right choice for himself, and Metallica chose a worthy replacement (Robert is, like Jason an awsome guy with a unique style). Fun detail, Jason replaced Robert Trujillo in Ozzy Osbournes band when Robert replaced Jason in Metallica...=)
Love this guy, definitely the most likeable Metallica muso. Love the way he plays, as a fellow bass player he’s a huge influence
Nah. He left the fooooooooooking band of his own free will. And he’s doing all the better for it. Sure, he’s probably missing an extra 25 million or more in his pocket, but he’s earned enough for many comfortable lifetimes so it really shouldn’t matter all that much. Just know that everyone was blessed including the band while he was there. They performed their best with him, and without him and Bob Rock, they’d never would have had as successful a transition to rock as they did...
@@MikeOxlong- you know that he had to leave for his own mental health’s best since he got bullied by the other members, especially by James.
Somewhat. For the years past when they didn't treat him as an equal, taking out their resentment of losing cliff out on him. But now hes doing great and i say good for him!
Jason is really AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
Jason is THE DUDE!!!
...
OhHeyItsTheDUDE lol
Wonderful solo by Jason. He is truly missed in Metallica. Feels like they are 3/4 of a band nowdays without him
I love hearing James play a solo. They may not be technical solos; but every solo he does is full of passion. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
9:05 Jason's scream
Oh my god, that Jason's solo is so sinister and sad at the same time.. it's beautiful..
So beautiful.. and I had 2 older brothers, who listened to Metallica before I.. But, when I first bought their album, my own.. Jason was bassist, and his gift, his looks, his everything made it for me. James, Kirk, Lars, Jason.. RIP Cliff, amazing, amazing, but I do feel Jason did help keep the band going thru that horrible time. Metallica, no comparison to any bands, its them together that make the magic happen. But, yes, Jason was my number one bassist, lots of good ones, other bands, but always and forever, Jason for me.
Jason never should have left metallica
I would agree with you, but it isn't....😢
We don't know what went wrong in the band during jason era. Feel sad for him. Keep Rock brother jason. I miss your heavy riffs.
@@yanasegeranyanasegeran2918 They essentially bullied him like he was The New Guy at a frat-house.
Lest we forget, Jason had another project going on and James wasn't cool with it. Jason was working with Echobrain on an album and James, out of his abandonment issues wanted to "suffocate" Jason and say, "No, stay here. You're not allowed to leave."
Oh Fuck, that solo Man!! no-one but James can deliver such a powerful solo than him.
9:03 Jason's scream was badass
I love the sound of his bass..
This could be one of the best live performances I have ever seen. Respect.
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, best live perfomance EVER
I've been playing that bass solo on oboe because I love it so much! I love metallica...
doboef upload oboe version, I'd love to hear it ;)
It's nice to know someone would like to hear that :) I'll work on it a bit more and who knows maybe I'll put it on u tube one day ;)
Best era of Jason, worst era of Metallica. The egos in this point of time were out of control. Glad they've chilled.
maybe the most honest performance of this song from James. it's like he is not singing, he is just speaking the lyrics from the core part of his heart with the truest feelings unlished.
Best bassist of the history.
Him and Duff McKagan ✌ beside that... why they say Newsted solo... but there is the whole band
wow this is what i loved and stil love about metallica and jason....
My grandma is a huge metallica fan now thanks to this little clip and bass solo.
This feels like his goodbye, miss you man.
Jason's solo brings a tear to my eye :') epic stuff!
He’s legendary!!
This is my FAVORITE Jason Newsted bass solo... and it leads right into my ALL TIME favorite Metallica song... Nothing Else Matters... this is musical gold right here... LOVE THIS!!!
This solo has so much soul... So much emotion, It is a true work of art. This plays in my head when I am sad.
Fucking Love You Jason Newsted!!
i first heard metallica back in 1986 (ish) Jason was on bass. i was into metallica for the whole time j newstead was playin there bass n i was hooked. ive always listened to metallica for the past 3 decades. (and always will) but i just shown my m8 this video n he was blown away, seriously.thank u soooooo much 4 the upload xXxNewsteadxXx
i really like this video that intro and when he plays together with kirk is awsome is relaxing nice
I Love this bass solo and how it merges "My Friend Of Misery" "Welcome Home (Sanatarium) and then kicking in to "Nothing Else Matters". just amazing.
Best solo ever Bass or guitar i havent listened better! I enjoy it every single time! Damn James why did had to make My Friend Of Misery a normal song and not an instrumental it would be the BEST TALLICA SONG!
I know dont worry pal
+mrjacob0101 I kinda wish they made more epic instrumentals. It's as if they stopped doing that when Cliff died. Suicide and Redemption wasn't epic enough. They also strayed away from the memorable intros, "classical style", and "build-up" that Cliff liked doing when they make instrumentals. And I'm not sure, but I think I heard some punk in there. I know some of them liked punk, but the punk influence was rather strong on that instrumental.
@4:06. Ahhhh those where the good 'ol days when fire still lit metal concerts and provided that special romantic ballad ambiance rather than your cellphone screen backlight.
can never get sick of this..Jason
Jason Newsted love you. Come back please
Cliff and Rob may be better technically than Jason, but seriously, Jason's Metallica live was much better than Cliff's or Rob's
+B Beaz absolutely, I didn't say he wasn't, but, for me, Jason > Cliff > Rob
Cliff: crazy on the stage, doing insane bass job.
Jason: crazy on the stage, doing nice bass job.
Rob: shitty on the stage, doing poor bass job.
Cliff was a great composer. Jason was a great performer. Rob is a great player. All had their own specialty at music.
But Rob can't do wah screams like Cliff.
Simstrag Nobody can do wah screams like cliff.
metallica had a few of the best bassist ever they lost one in cliff, then let another go in jason! i love rob, but jason just had a different way, and sound that was and always will be metallica!
mrouthouse mouse 3 great bassists, all of them very different.
jason, jason jason! como se le extraña el mejor
2021 and we still all love Jason for a reason.👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️
This video gives me chills for the first 3 minutes!
The years with Jason where in my opinion their greatest! 🫶🏻
this a real bass no those fucking shit called tecno
+JAR Orean No man, those are called FX. You know, to make your shit sound cooler. Without that stuff, we'll have songs like Sad but True, Harvester of sorrow, The Thing that Should not be and many more to be very lame and boring, cause they wouldn't have atleast distortion. Just a plain floppy clean electric guitar. That ain't techno, That's JOOHNNN CEEENAAAAA
wat
i speak spanish but i love metallica even when thier lyrics are in english.... and i dont sure if you understand my commentary... but the only thing i try to say is I LOVE THE FUCKING REAL BASS GUITAR!!!!
JAR Orelln Lo se, al que no entiendo es el que puso el comentario anterior al mio
***** jeje me dejo yo tampoco logro entender y no por el idioma...
we miss you jason
the best version Nothing Else Matters \m/
Que grande eres Jason!
dante laufter 5 foot 9
when kirk and jason started playin welcome start i was like shaking!! its awesome metallica ruuuuuulzzz!!!!!!!
That’s the truest brutal version of man’s soul. Beautiful way of song.
Need this played at my funeral this is godly
i miss jason newsted
this defiantly goes as a package!! another reason why MetallicA was awesome!!
Serious goosebumps listening to this, maybe even a tear in my eye too
i really love jason forever and ever....
i think this is the ultimate expression of patience. everybody knows every single note. yet, all of them are played in the exact precise order.
maybe that's why people keep watching same bits over and over again.
great public, great band, great concert, great years & times.
though patience is not a fair word. or not entirely alone. people are patient with repetitions because... well i don't know. but this is one of those very few things i can't fast forward over.
Jason is GOD
Это вышак басист уделал, нет, не уделал, просто выдал высший класс, как и весь коллектив легендарной Металлики!!! Я не перестаю восхищаться этой композицией, это супер!!;
This video just shows how jason was instrumental to the black album style.... cliff gave the speed and attitude....but it was jason that gave metallica the class and style.... robert is also amazing... lpoking forward to a new metallica to amaze me again
heavenly solo
miss u jason
Im crying when I hear this solo. Especially when kirk start playing my friend of misery.
Great guy treated me like family. Honestly it hasn't been the same without him.
just. simply amazing. amazing.
best bass solo!!!!!!!!!!
I love this Jason......
THIS IS FUCKING REAL MUSIC!!! music now is just autotune and electro music everything is fake.....that music is pure.. (also the part when james starts to play gave me chills. fuck. miss old days..
I love it.. that tuning❤
i want see Jason Newsted in Metallica!!
that part where they were playing my friend of misery should've been a full instrumental!! would've gotten it in a heartbeat!
So grateful to be alive when jason could bless my ears with his bass playing 🤘🤘
Intro is so beautiful
JASON THE BEST
im crying !!! i need to reborn at the 80''
I love the bass line on welcome home!
My favourite Nothing else matters performed ever.
nothing but LOVE Jason you are one of the best,Metallica is Cliff and Jason at different times
And i wake up in the morning , and watch this in february 2023
how good do you want it??? absolutely fuckin class..metallica rock my world, fuck yeah james
the era of metallica beautiful bass sounds..
I used to have this DVD and also S&M really loved them when I was about 12 wish I still had them
Jason why'd you leave 😢😢😢😢
Just the way they built up to it is pure genius!!
awesome
If you are a teenager watching this and it makes want to play bass.... DO IT!!!!
I Miss you 1997....
9:03 this guitar solo made me cry Metallica ♥
5:46 that wonderful note makes up for the random laughs
you know a band is badass when they sound better live than on the studio album.
fantastic
truely EPIC!
i kinda miss jason in metallica...
I was wondering for months where I heard that first riff in Jason's solo, now I found it!
la perfecion !!!!
speechless
