I was 13 when kill em all came out in Europe and turned instant fan. At this very festival i worked as stagehand designated to this particular stage. In one week we set up PA lights and god knows how many cables. Metallica headlined the 2nd day and their lighting demands have been rigged up within already. First night was headed by RATM who came with one 40t trailer filled with backline and merch. Metallica brought 6 of those for stage set, backline, film, Pyro and some merch. To this day I love the precision of the further down the crowd set up PA delay towers proper reacted in unison to the sonic soundwave come blasting from the stage. We local crew where not allowed to remain on the stage's rear ends as usual, so I skinned one up and climbed up the FOH tower right to the top where the 'Super Trooper' follow spots where operated. It was great!
