Leaving aside the match itself, HOW they did this was pretty much the dumbest way possible.
It buried Cody, Seth, Seth’s Title, the Royal Rumble, etc. and it makes Rock look like an egomaniac.
NO ONE was helped by this.
That was all Roman that buried Rollins and his title. He should get more backlash for this too
@@jordan12118After Seth's promo on Raw calling the Universal title the Hollywood title, calling himself THE champion, THE guy, and THE workhorse, Roman had no choice but to respond. And it makes sense because in kayfabe both Seth and Roman believe they're the top champion of the company. It only looks like a burial because Cody essentially agreed with everything that Roman said and still chose Seth anyway letting The Rock steal his match with Roman.
@@MaxVillarreal-ks1mvsaying “no pop” and going after the guys pay compared to yours looks like a burial anyway you put it. There was a way to respond to not make that title look so weak especially when you know that’s the one Cody was gonna chose. Roman doesn’t get any respect from me for doing it the way he did assuming he wasn’t scripted to say that
It also degrades Roman Reigns further because, ONCE AGAIN, he dodges a bullet with the help from a Bloodline member on the board of directors (The Rock is his cousin after all). TWO bullets, actually, when we know, we KNOW, that there's no other outcome except Roman beating The Rock at Wrestlemania 40 and going on the shelf to artificially inflate his record since "business" and "statistics" are the primary concern for WWE now.
Yes, but WWE will make more money off it from other big companies, etc. because Rock is the bigger name, and fans won’t stop supporting them regardless, so of course they will screw the creative and the fans every time.
All this because we didn’t watch Black Adam
I did don't blame me I even have it
What if, right after the Rock wins the undisputed title and we hear "You may be Black Adam. But I'm a Black Bitch!"

@@life0093 It was ass. He was trying so hard to be some kind of Superman-Batman fusion, and it just wasn’t working. Black Adam isn’t a character that needs his own movie. There just isn’t much to the character. The only nice thing about it was seeing Henry Cavill back as Superman, but that’s it.
Can't blame The Rock for trying that though, these superhero movies are big business and he's a top action star with a limited acting range.

@@skinder124 Bryan Alvarez claims that he's been told certain things from people in WWE that Vince changed the finish, because Vince still had power at that point. Creative blunders in this company: The more things change, the more they stay the same
When Hogan passed the torch to The Rock back at WrestleMania X8, I guess the Hulkster also passed over his politicking abilities as well. Good lord, even putting aside the fact that Dwayne once again took away a Mania main event spot away from a full time talent, that segment on SmackDown was such an astronomical fuckup. From Roman burying Seth and the WHC in a way that would make even peak reign of terror HHH blush, to Cody looking like the biggest goof on the roster for willingly allowing Dwayne to take his spot that he EARNED and fought for 2 years to earn, which ultimately has led to fans turning on The Rock himself and what many viewed as a dream match between Rock and Roman. I haven’t seen this kind of universal outrage from the community in a long time.
The Rock literally just proved every criticism of him over the years 100% correct. What an idiot. This is worse than when Triple H decided that Cena, Orton, and Rollins being injured meant that he needed to win a Royal Rumble with the WWE title on the line and main event Mania as a nearly 50 year old man in 2016.

Colt: What if I said 'well, The Rock, he's in Hollywood, he brings all these outside people...'
Punk: I don't give a fuck. WrestleMania is the draw, not The Rock. I don't care what anybody says, that is how I fucking feel.
Punk was right. Last year’s Wrestlemania was the highest grossing one of all time, and it had Cody-Roman in the main event, with no Rock in sight. I’m not saying Dwayne wouldn’t help them, I’m not oblivious, but the brand of Wrestlemania has become so big now that it makes money even without Black Adam coming back and clumsily inserting himself into the main event.
The World Wrestling Federation is in complete disarray at this time. The Road To WrestleMania XL looks even more bumpy than initially anticipated.

Are you sure that Vince isn't running things behind the curtain? This is why I don't watch WWE anymore.
Thing is, even though Vince himself is out of the picture - for now, hopefully for good though never say never with this guy - you've still got the TKO board with guys like Ari Emmanuel who was BFFs with Vince (and insisted that Vince return to the company inspite of all the controversies the first time around as part of the takeover), and now the Rock having a big influence on the board who has always been pretty tight with Vince, as well as Brian Gerwitz involved on the Rock's behalf who was a Vince era writer. There's a lot of Vince's grimy sleazy handprints all over this company, even with him directly out of the picture. No wonder Solomonster said that Triple H should watch his back!

I am boycotting Wrestlemania 40! Refuse to watch! Cody should be the main event and take that dam belt of Reigns!
The difference between Batista & Rock is that at least Batista won the Royal Rumble fair & square. The Rock just walked right in front of Cody and told him: "That Doesn't Work For Me Jaborni." 🤨
Do I think that Punk getting injured or the Vince Scandal had anything to do with this? Absolutely not. Do I think that Rock did this as a Power Play? Absolutely. As far as why he did this, it is because 40 sounds better than 39. The Rock didn't want a match on a 39th annual WrestleMania. He wanted to do it on the 40th annual WrestleMania instead.
For those who say: "Well, we have been waiting for this dream match forever." So have the rest of us. But that is what The Rock gets for waiting until the last minute to do the match. This should have happened last year. With the reactions on social media and at live events, I hope WWE will pivot and change their plans for WrestleMania XL.

@Supre3m3Kai cody rhodes vs roman reigns is a bigger match especially since what happened last year that's 10X Better than a boring match with the rock that's past it's expiration date plus the rock is 51-years old and hasn't Wrestled a proper match in 11-years this is a terrible move and wwe deserves this backlash.
@@benespinosa6725 You want to talk about expiration dates? Cody's story has been sitting on the shelves for the past several months. You want to talk about expiration dates?! This whole "we want cody" movement is well past it's due date! Where was this outrage at 39? Oh right, people were too busy making excuses for it. Now, those same people want to sit here, fake outrage, and scapegoat the Rock for past creative blunders.
Wow, The Rock went full on Hogan.
Bret Hart is more like it.
Dwayne Johnson is TKO board member, previous position was held by Vince McMahon who used to give orders to HHH so now HHH's new boss is The Rock. What is HHH gonna say to the Rock ? "Hey stop" he can't.
1- Ava is NXT GM
2- Nia Jax was hired back
3- Dwayne steals Cody's spot
Oh god nia jax is never getting fired now
It's all a strong coincidence. Netflix deal, Vince drama, Vince quits, Rock takes Vinces spot, ends up taking Cody's spot. Remember the Cliq did not get along well with the Rock during the attitude era. Maybe this Rocks revenge
I hear that the IWC is only like 5% of of the viewing audience.
All of this could've been avoided if the WWE put the belt on Cody Rhodes last yearl at WrestleMania 39.
Actually, Austin didn't get to go to WrestleMania to fight for the title the first time he won. Granted, that was because he didn't technically win because he got eliminated but the refs didn't see it, so that's why they took it away. He did eventually get his title shot at the following In Your House, and it's not like he just gave his shot away, but he was the first to win the Rumble and not get the match at Mania.
Bingo and if you remember this set up Vince to be the biggest heel in wrestling history and catapulted Austin into the greatest babyface in wrestling history , imagine Rock in that Vince spot and Cody as Austin they could really turn this into something special.
we got to beat hogan's record tho@@firstorder438
@firstorder438 This happened 3 times in 1997, 1999 & 2008.
1997: Like Bman said, Austin used his Rumble victory for the In Your House: Final Four and lost.
1999: McMahon won the Royal Rumble, and Austin faced him in a steel cage match at St. Valentine's Day Massacre and Austin won by being thrown by The Giant aka Big Show in the match.
2008: John Cena used his Rumble victory to face Randy Orton at No Way Out 2008. Orton got himself intentionally disqualified and retained his championship.
@lancethefilmguy9392 Oh yeah, I remember. 1999, Vince gave up his title shot, but I think that was to protect his champion from having to defend the title. In 2008, Cena got his shot at No Way Out and lost but still found his way onto WrestleMania and challenging for the title.
@@BmanTheChampStupid move in 08. HHH was robbed in 08 for the rumble.
This is Hogan level political booking.
I literally learned something new because of The Solomonster around 9:22-9:30 & 9:30-9:36.
I had no idea The Rock had something in his movie contract stating "I don't lose any of the fights that I partake in.", or, something like that--paraphrasing, of course...
The Definition of having an Ego
@@lancethefilmguy9392- What makes you say & think that, exactly?...
Also, I wouldn't go that far, per se.
Others would, though...
@@tthomaselli2 Look, he and I don’t agree on much, but he’s right here. 😂 This is textbook ego. Dwayne has essentially tried to book himself as Superman in his movies, in that case. Now it makes sense. He never t looked anything but strong in most of his goofy movies. Dave Batista was the opposite. He’s bigger and stronger than Rock, or at least on the same level, yet he’s lost plenty of fights in his movies; hell, Daniel Craig killed him in that one Bond film. Yet he’s a much better actor than Dwayne will ever be because Dave takes risks and isn’t afraid of looking vulnerable. Dwayne is too obsessed with looking invincible. He’s afraid of failing.
@@Jeff_Pryce- What do you mean by "He & I don't agree on much, but, he's right."?...
Who are you talking about?...
Somehow it feels like Vince still has some type of control over the company.
I can't help but feel like we're getting worked here. Would they really put this match on last after two whole nights of matches in Philadelphia of all places? I know that people fly in from all over to go to Mania, but lots of locals are going to be in that building, and they're going to act like a typical Philly crowd. For two whole nights they'll be highjacking the show until Roman/Rock actually starts. Not to mention the highjacking that will go on for the next two months.
Funny how they managed to put them selves in to the same situation Daniel Bryan was in 10 years ago with Cody. Can’t make this shit up. Best scenario is to make it a triple threat and have Cody can pin the Rock. Still doesn’t fix the damage done to Seth and the world heavyweight title.
Solomon, your take on Rock is harsh. Rock v Roman would have always been the plan. I don't believe it's a last minute call engineered by himself and the company would've wanted the exact same thing
I feel like if this is upsetting the fans they should just give Cody his match back that he work so hard for
I feel like Triple H has zero control over this for some reason...
I just don’t understand. Before survivor series there was no cm punk or rock. I’m sure they had an idea of what they wanted to do with Cody getting his rematch with Roman and Seth having a different opponent so why can’t they just go that direction lol
With all the hate this is getting I would be stunned if they do not change it.
the aren't
Pathetic. If you have to keep going back to Rock, Austin, Lesner and Goldberg there is a problem. What the WWF should have done was have Roman and his crew out there in the ring for the match. Cody and his wife are looking on like the world is against them. All these people against them. Then on the screens you see a picture of The American Dream Dusty Rhodes and Dick Murdock. The crowd, Cody and Roman and crew look up. Then "Midnight Rider" is blasting. Wearing cowboy hats and chaps. Their faces covered. Two men stand at the top of the ramp. They nod and lift their hats. It's Dustin Rhodes and Trevor Murdock. The sons of The Texas Outlaws. Now the odds are even. We have a terrific match. Then we have a new worlds champion.
No one cares about Trevor Murdock. Dustin, sure.
I for one can’t wait to see the rock get gassed in 2 min and have a garbage tier match with Roman. So glad this is happening over something that’s been building for a full year.
Such a weirdo. Cody and Roman have been face to face 2x all year. Where was the story exactly??
@@apitterson17people only wanted this because they're mad Cody didn't win the first time. That's where all this stems from. There's no story here.
I like Roman but I wanna see that too because people wanted this ridiculous match for the longest.
Roman vs Reigns is the better storyline. Even though I think Roman vs Cody would be a better match.
How was this building for a year? Cody and Roman have no interaction. And there's no story between them except they wrestled last year. Grow up. The story is Roman vs Rock. The bigger draw is Roman vs Rock.
The WWF has also dropped the ball on LA Knight. I think he is terrific. He has personality.
I wouldn’t say that just yet, since LA Knight has been placed in the back burner for now until Roman finally loses the championship to Cody, then LA Knight will be the one to dethrone Cody.
You guys don't actually want to see LA Knight as champion do you?? He's so corny and stiff.
@@aspect1200finally I agreed with .
The only way this can be redeemed is if they add Cody in as part of a Triple Threat with a Heel Rock, but that is just nuclear damage control
Yeah, but when you add Cody to the mix, his odds go drastically down.
Even a triple threat doesn't mean anything. Triple threats suck and drastically water down the credibility of the match and title win. It has to be Cody vs Roman 1 on 1, without Rock, or with Rock in some ancillary role like referee or special enforcer.
or the rock is the guest referee
I can’t remember the last time I’ve listened to a Sound Off and Solomonster was this pissed. “People’s champion my ass” fucking hell that was a mic drop
22:35 "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to become Hulk Hogan" - Solomonster. Priceless 😂💯
Rock is an Egomaniac
Rock coming out from Hollywood after the whole black adam fiasco straight to this!!! he is ruining his attitude era legacy
I really got quite the laugh out of "maybe this is just me being delusionally optimistic"... Never change Solomonster!
Once again u hit the nail . Very good commentary on this issue. Thanks again for your insight
Rock will be gassed before hitting the ring.
That Philly crowd will have bring NUCLEAR HEAT on this match. Wonder how many batteries security confiscates at Wrestlemania......
I think Seth begging Cody to choose him was worse for the WHC than Roman dissing it.
With Roman, it at least felt in character for him. For Seth, a champion should not be begging for someone to challenge them. Challengers should be striving to do it themselves on their on initative. It's a title that hasn't even been around for a full year and has had only one holder thus far. The prestige that Seth claims it has just doesn't exist for it as of now regardless of how good his matches defending it may have been. A title doesn't become prestigous over night. (A "night" being a year in this case.)
I think the whole problem is that we've already had it established that even though Seth is the champ, 1v1 Cody is clearly the better guy. It makes sense that Seth would want to get one back.
“Hollywood” Dwayne Hogan.
Guess Rock still holds a grudge against Trips from all those years back. How else do you explain this sabotaging? Lol
What’s that story? I’m unaware?
@@riffhousestudios96 Rock was bullied by HBK and HHH
So he became the thing he hated. Imagine if Bret Hart, his mentor, had treated him the way Dwayne is treating Cody.
Rock was interviewed espn 12 days agi and he was talking this match
I love people mentioning the DC Universe thing with Rock as the catalyst for its downfall as if Walter Hamada was suddenly going to pull his head out of his ass and turn the entire franchise around. He was already tanking those films before Rock was even in the discussion.
Aint it interesting looking at the comments now that wrestlemania has finished. What a journey
Oh the chaos, such good sh!t
Pal
Can only hope things change, but we'll see.
I saw we grab our torches and pitchforks and show up at the rocks house
It literally feels like everything is just crumbling and like…. It’s really a train wreck. This road to WM feels lame.
Alternative booking:
They should have Rock as special guest referee and over the next few months, have him slowly pull the influence of the Bloodline away from Roman to him. They get starstruck and start to listen to him over Roman. The only one still loyal to Roman is Heyman because he knows what Rock is trying to do. They go to WM, Cody wins clean with Rock counting fairly. Roman gets upset that Rock didn't pull anything to prevent that and Rock turns heel on Roman. The Bloodline all attack Roman. He becomes Head of the Table.
Raw after WM: Rock, Solo and Jimmy come out to the Bloodline music with all the fan fare. Promo in mid ring. Roman walks out to no music, no fan fare, with Heyman, cuts counter promo on top of stage and against Heyman's counsel, rushes the ring. 3 v 1, gets destroyed....out comes Cody. Cody helps Roman. Stare down. Confusion on Roman's face.
Smackdown after WM: Cody comes out, promo in mid-ring. Thanks the fans, says he's finished his story. But, there's always room for a sequel. This time, it's about being a fighting champion and restoring honor and glory to the title, not the titleholder. Roman comes out to no music, no fanfare with Heyman. Wants to know why he helped him on Raw. Cody says it's simple... before he can answer, Cody gets jumped from behind by Solo and Jimmy out of the crowd. Roman rushes the ring to help Cody. After a bit of a brawl and BL coming on top, Rock comes out and finishes off the two of them. Heel tactics. Heyman looks on from the entrance way with fear and concern.
Later on, Rock/Solo/Jimmy vs. Cody/Roman in a handicap match. Cody/Roman go over but in a hard-fought match that ends in DQ when the BL use foreign objects. Rock hits Cody and Roman with chairs. Jey's music hits and he comes down to help even the odds. Eventually, he clears the ring, helps Cody and Roman up and paces, taunting the BL as they sulk off.
(All of this leads to a Cody/Rock title match at SS [that Cody must win] and a War Games match at SS where the BL [with a 4th from NXT as a merc?] faces off against Cody, Roman and Jey [with a 4th, maybe a returning Punk?], and a Wrestlemania match of Roman vs. Rock for in a Tribal Warfare match [Lumberjack Match with Bloodline family members from multiple generations surrounding the ring]).
I mean that sounds a lot better than what we think we are getting no? This gives Rock time to get into Ring shape, protects him by only letting him wrestle at big events (with the exception of the Handicap match which he can just let Solo and Jimmy carry him in) and builds to a WM without killing Cody's momentum and potential to become the face of the company.
this would be great but unlikely with rock's schedule.
How long before Triple h is shown the door?
We made it through a pandemic we can make it through this.
The next time Rock does something altruistic, to put someone else over, will be the first…he’s been selfish as a wrestler, as a DCEU actor, as a Hawaiian resident, as an apologist for China, and as a businessman. He’s not a good guy now, and never has been…
Bullseye.
I wouldn’t blame Rhodes for having a potential exit strategy. Sure maybe they promised him the win at WM 41 but who’s not to say that something else may come up that pushes his storyline back even further beyond WM 41. Plus it really hurt his character when he willingly just gave up his spot. They could have at least tried an injury angle.
Rock: You can finish your story in the minor leaguers if ya smelllllll!
I'm so happy to see people reacting this way. Keep the loudness coming guys they have not seen this ever and I'm here for it.
Bet the rock is literally thinking "no way that people don't like me"
I find it funny because Rock said in recent interviews if he was going to face Roman he’d want them to take time to build the story and make it a huge deal at Wrestlemania. In a matter of weeks he changed his mind and is rushing to main event this year’s Mania. SMH.
What Rock did was expose how full of shit he really is.
"I'm a long gamer." Well apparently playing the long game means 8 weeks.
I’ve always hated the part time at best or once a year wrestlers coming in and taking a main event spot at WrestleMania outside of The Undertaker who’s streak was a WrestleMania storyline and draw every year.
They’ve pushed a two year story of Cody reaching the top and finishing his story just for Rock to politic his way into the main event so he hits his money target with TKO, it’s disgusting and I pray Philadelphia boo both Rock and Reigns out of the city.
