    Hi Trogly!!! Great informative video!!! HERE'S A LITTLE HELP FOR GETTING P/UP READINGS ON YOUR MULTIMETER. When a 9v battery is used in an active P/up scenario, in order to see results on your multimeter, you have to plug ¼" cable into both locations, into the guitar and into the amplifier. Voltage, ohmage, running across those printed circuit boards within active p/ups needs a complete or "closed circuit" in order to take associated readings. Depending on the capacitors used on the PCB, the amp also has to be turned on... keep the amp volume wicked low. Then you will be able to read associated p/up outputs.
    ANYWAY, KEEP ON KEEPING ON BROTHER!!!!!!!!!
    PEACE !!!!!!!!!!!🤘🏼

    I picked one of these up just over a week ago and initially I was kind of apprehensive. It's pricey for an Epiphone but I figured the value for what it is, it's not that bad at all. Then I plugged it in and started playing and I really fell in love with it. My example has the same paint issues on the horn, which is disappointing but the real bummer was that the strap button near the neck was stripped. Now fortunately my local guitar store will fix that up under warranty with no charge to me, but it's still a bummer to buy a thousand dollar guitar (more for me because I'm not in the states) and end up with some pretty obvious QC issues. All in all, I don't regret the purchase but I am not as blown away with it as I could have been.

    They are custom voiced fluence pickups
    You have
    Modern high gain sound
    PAF sound
    and a single coil sound
    They are exclusive to Epiphone too. Fishman fluence don't have coils. They have laminated PCB that replaces coils. This allows you have a much lower impedance which allows the pickup to capture more harmonic content.

      Also no neck joint carve. Makes no sense on a 24 fret guitar. Still waiting for the industry to put money into playability and durable steel frets instead of these pricey Fishmans. They do too much. They try to be everything, but players have always wanted to have many guitars, not one guitar that can do everything in a so-so sort of way.

    This is an all around good guitar, very good for all types of classic Rock and Roll and it is extremely versatile. I didn't think I would like the active pickups but it turns out I was wrong. I really like the 24 jumbo fret ebony board neck. I have always liked flat top LPs, so this one having less carve on the top works for me. and I don't mind that there's no comfort cuts. because there's nothing better than a double bound LP. I'm curious if that binding glows in the dark? I'm surprised that you didn't black light that guitar. if anyone thought that Epiphone couldn't build a good guitar? this guitar should answer that question no doubt.

I used it to power up my origanal 1880s EMG 81-85s from out da secret hoard bin. Turned my cheeser Starshine Les Paul knock off into an addictive monster tone machine. The vaneers arent perfect but the woodwork and fretboard are fine. The dang thing is like a video game and more fun than a set of trick dice. Yes this mostly because of the low impedance of the pickups. They can achieve this because they are active.
      It's a misnomer to think of active pickups as good for only high gain sounds. The whole point of the prophecy series is to get a classic shaped guitar that not only has the paf style sound you associate with Gibson but also a modern contemporary sound. The prophecy series is probably the best thing Epiphone has come up with recently.

Perhaps this is so that they can raise Gibson prices while still maintaining the appearance of a nice big gap between the two companies' price points. Effectively, it's a way to disguise Gibson's already-inflated, and still inflating, prices.

    Actually, ALL of the new customs from the prophecy and the original collection , have the Large diamond inlay on the headstocks. I think the dealers just haven’t changed the stock photos online. All of the Epiphone customs that I have seen in person all have the large split diamond 🤘🏻

    Trogly, I love your videos and the time you take and quality is fantastic…BUT.. when your doing the playing demos, the difference in volume between the guitar and your voice is substantial and I find myself having to adjust the volume all the time. Just food for thought. Keep up the good work.

    Wow Trog, you've done a few platinum white Gibson and Epiphone models over the last 18 months. Are thru a mounting trend among signature editions for some reason?
    Here's a potentially radical request. How frequently have you reviewed a Rickenbacker 360 or 360/12? Bring it, Trog!

    I own a red tiger Prophecy LP. Not sure what you mean by the "custom" emblem being part of the reason for the upcharge because the regular Prophecies all have that same emblem. The inlays on the regular ones also have real abslone. Aside from the back binding (and subsequent loss of belly cut....which I think is a major downer), this is just a Prophecy LP with Jerry's name and aesthetic and a case. I'm actually disappointed because for me that's not worth the extra money. And people are right when they say this doesn't look like something he'd play. I've seen him play 8x, most recently 2 weeks ago and he didn't play anything that looks like this ( or the Wino for that matter). He played several LPs, but nothing like this.
    That said, I absolutely love my Prophecy and thought it's totally worth the money, and I couldn't find a single QC issue other than needing a setup.

    I sound like a broken record...I love Epiphone. The only negative I have for them in the 12 guitars I've purchased since 2020 is.......one has frets that needed a fret file. One. Was leaning towards the Wino with this one, but hmmm......

    The way the finish goes along the binding at the lower horn has always made me wonder if it's actually paint, it looks like a cut off sheet of paper or vinyl, been like that for ages.

    • @hkguitar1984
      @hkguitar1984 2 года назад +1

      Since its a poly finish they don't scrape the binding like a lacquer Gibson finish, its taped off before the poly color coat is sprayed.
      It may be that they have pre-cut adhesive binding masks they use for finishing when the color coat is applied.

    Usually when I buy Les Paul's I have to modernize them like this Les Paul. Obviously I not into old version Les Paul's. I think it's better to have all the modern updates with the same style and sound. If you want old style then buy a old Les Paul.

    When justifying the price, you’ve got to mention the Cantrell Custom Carve of the neck! I think it’s a reasonable price, by far. That custom case alone would cost $200+

    That white Epiphone looks nice, but the sound i just don't like, the Wino sounds good. I wanted that white one but the way it sounds i just can't do it. Jerry Cantrell always played g&l rampage and every video I looked at the rampage sounds awesome vs the white one that doesn't, it's a shame. These days I don't care much to give money to China. Nice looking guitar though.

    Are the dimensions of the body of the epiphone prophecy les pauls different to normal les pauls? I can see that the neck is connecting to the body at the 18th fret instead of the 16th fret, and you have 24 frets, and something just looks different on the body but maybe my eyes are just fooling me

    • @che2335
      @che2335 2 года назад

      The bridge and tail are moved up towards headstock to allow 2 more frets in the same 24 3/4" of scale length. This puts the pickups closer together and effectively moves the neck pup closer to the bridge for a slightly brighter sound.

    I am an Epiphone lover through and through … I get what he is saying on how spec wise this Is a GREAT guitar. It just seems like they said here is the Matt Heafy model and let’s put a different fretboard on this just plain paper white guitar and call it a day , oh and don’t forget to change the logos. For the price I would have expected a little more.
