    No matter how brilliant a rendition of the past , along comes a superior reading. The synchronization of orchestra and soloist in tempi and rhythm is definitely fabulous. The obvious technical and musical prowess of the soloist is unforgettable, in my humble opinion.

    She plays like a composer owning the piece with unapologetic sensabilities, atmosphere and making sure to bring out everything right. Finally a thoughtful pianist. I'm tired of hideously clever ones. She hit the spot. What planet am I on?

      I agree totally. If an artist is so deeply in touch with the music there is no need for theatrics... it will show in your playing. What better example than this marvelous performance.

    Beatrice Rana has such a natural interpretation of Prokofiev's music. She is one of my favourite pianists. And Maestro Otto Tausk is the director of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra now, and we're so happy to have him here. He is an excellent successor to our beloved Maestro Bramwell Tovey. Vancouver has had the good fortune of two awesome directors.

    Absolutely splendid. A superb orchestra. This is just about the only string section -- that I have heard -- that can keep up and play the sixteenth notes with crystalline clarity in the first movement. And Beatrice...? Well, she's just amazing!

    Fascinating performance! She uses a loose high-wristed percussive technique in combination with a metronomic rhythmic precision that is nothing short of thrilling, and which suits this concerto perfectly. She then takes a number of passages slightly slower than is typical, and as a result we get a glorious level of detail and clarity without ever being dull or plodding.
    And as identified in some of the comments below, she doesn't overthink the piece - she's very much in the moment, and plays with an almost improvisory freedom. Really wonderful stuff... this is in serious danger of becoming my favourite recording of this brilliant concerto.

      She explains her approach to the piece here: ruclips.net/video/KqluRF9mdxk/видео.html . It bears out your observations, but also indicates that she hasn't underthought the piece either :-) She has a way of relating every part of a piece to the whole, in a way that the listener absorbs subconsciously. A significant new musical presence, in my opinion, who gives us much to look forward to.

    Unbelievable Prokofiev-concerto as played by Mrs. Beatrice Rana! She played like grown in a different century or born and raised on another outer planet! This is awesome. Outstanding! Superbe! All those Lang Langs and Yulia Wangs should go home and ask Mrs. Rana for advice and lessons in the meaning of composition and structure! I know a lot of performances of this piece. Never heard it played as clear. How does she wanna play in 50 years?

    Beatrice Rana played in the important parts of the 3rd movement this endless and beautiful theme in a "adagio"- like tempo. Your can hear the beauty of Prokoviev in a brand-new and totally different way like none played it in the next generation like her. Every single note. Clear. Lyrical. Again without showing any skills to the audience because she's like in a meditation. We need this new generation of musicians like her. In my opinion, she's the biggest game changer after the age of super fast playing pianists like Ivo Pogorelich 40 years ago. Than followed by Dimitris Sgouros, Lang Lang or Yulia Wang. The globe becomes more an more wild and crazy. Beatrice Rana stops all this tradition by showing her audience the beauty of music in a different way and this is, what mankind needs so much now. Stop. Listen. Breath. Open your minds. Not too fast. Giving a large range of a new understanding of "tempo". God bless her and thank you so much for uploading this masterpiece performed by her! Keep on going, ya little genius! By the way an amazing orchestra and conductor, kissed by the composer! So passioned, enthusiastic and careful. Beautiful!

    Just attended her performance tonight in Munich. Wow. Indeed she is not only owning the piece, with a good conductor giving her leverage and synchronizing the orchestra perfectly - as tonight and Otto Tausk - it seems she owns the orchestra as well, while she is on. Its almost like she would composing while improvising. We hope to see her more often in Munich. P.S. This clip has a good balanced sound.

      @MasmorraAoE 2 года назад +4

      There's no glissando there in the score, Beatrice plays it the way Prokofiev wrote it: several fingers hit 2 keys at the same time.

    • @vzetanet
      @vzetanet 4 месяца назад +1

      Non è un glissando è una specie di arpeggio e le note sono 2 per ogni dito, molto difficile in quanto in velocità puoi saltare 1 tasto, e poi ovviamente gli spazi in cui la le dita sono "abituate" a muoversi cambiano costringendo la mano in un movimento molto diverso dai soliti arpeggi a intervalli di 3a.
