The gifting of excess food seems to be a thing here.
    Most people are so friendly.
Periodically we will get a random knock at kitchen window, finding neighbors,
bringing us potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, squash, beets, corn, the odd Galo and such.
We've been here 4 years now, and since we were able, we constantly return the favor. 🍁

I hope the weather dries up a bit for you. At least you know where the water runs and where it just sits on the land. The neighbour seems happy to have someone looking after the land you own and is very generous with his gifts.

Hi guys, just a little help I hope, but the gutter doesn’t leak the way you think, rainwater good’s don’t need glue or sealer, gravity and nature takes its course. Your best bet would be to watch the roof and gutter when it’s actually raining and I’d bet the water is either overshooting the gutter or dropping before it reaches it! Both easy fixes but just a bit more work for you (like you haven’t got enough). Good luck! Great vids, keep at it Andy.

Also, I’m sure lots of people have told you guys this. But, a bar or two of Irish spring soap is a great rat and mice repellant. Leave a few unwrapped bars of it in your truck or van so you don’t come back to unwelcome new residents. We used it in our house as we had a rat issue.

Gosh, Laura, i was cheering for you to use a longer shovel so you wouldn't have to over stretch your back and strain your knees as much. If you stick with the shorter spade, maybe stand in the ditches (in your wellies, of course) you're digging in order to shorten the distance you must reach for?

Hole digger. That is funny. Bro you need some big pruning sheers for those roots. Just remember when turning around land, every little task complete is a step in every major task. So celebrate everything you accomplish with a glass of wine to a moonlight dance in the evenings. Keep the romance on the farm. You've got a few years of work ahead of you but keep hammering. It's worth every ache in the back.

There is a silver lining, you haven't lost crops due to the rain and it gave you to see where you need to dig drainage ditches. Have your friend's gone all ready? With the heavy rain, would it not be worthwhile collecting it. Has the barn got drainpipes and an ibc or other water collection tub. Fro. What i see the Portugeese farmers are a friendly bunch. Who knows, maybe if he is getting on a bit, he sees you like his own kids. That fruit and veg looked really tasty and like nothing from. Suppermarkets. Mmm a nice thick veggie soup or broth on cold wet winter days. Nice idea to gift the farmer something you paint. Although now its s past Christmas, sodid he like what you made. I still think your art is something you can sell in a craft market or on line. Thats a thought do you have an etsy shop? Nice seeing your banter and that you are posting more. X

It has a very strong scent. It may have menthol or peppermint or both or something else similar in it. Perhaps pine? I'm not sure. Sorry. Perhaps using something/cloth with these essential oils or some other similar product, might help instead?? Good luck!
