Don't let them haul off all of the organic material after clearing the land. Though it is hard you are doing the right thing removing the invasive fire prone species, but you should get them to turn to wood chips if not firewood like some of the first load. These wood chips can be the base to regenerate and feed the natives and other trees you add. Think of any organic material as fertilizer 👍

Hi, Maya! Your land looks like mine in many ways. Ideas that may benefit you:
To reduce you carrying water, you might be able to build a "ram pump" (not expensive, but well documented). In short, the energy of much falling water is used to move less water to a higher elevation, where you could store it in a tank. No electricity or fuel required, and no motors or engines, either.
With water I see (like mine, but more), you could install micro-hydro, to have decent amounts of electricity.
To produce natural gas (swamp gas), you could build a methane digester -- buy or build a tank, fill with water, and feed with clippings of vegetation (but not wood -- too slow to decompose). A simple push mower with a bag can save those clippings while you maintain terraces, and you can cook with the gas, maybe even heat the home some. It's gas, but without fossil fuel cost.

What an amazing video and way of life. You are literally living my dream and spending your days doing what I wish to do with my own time. I am in the Highlands of Scotland and just have been unable to find a suitable piece of land at any affordable price yet. Been looking for years and I am getting older so I dont know if I will ever reach my long term dream. Keep doing what you are doing, even when it gets tough try to remind yourself of why you started and what you are creating.
    Best wishes to you 🥰

Hi, Maya! I'm Portuguese and I also live in central Portugal.
I would like to congratulate you, you are making an amazing progress, and I'm so happy that more and more people are seeing the beauty of our country.
You are more than welcome and I hope from the bottom of my heart that you feel at home here!
You've gained a new subscriber and I can't wait to see the rest of your journey. Question/ fun fact: is your name really "Feliz"? That means "Happy" in Portuguese 🥰💕
    Much much love,
    Beatriz

You are so brave to get into that tall bushy grass 😜😜😜. Where I live that would be infested with snakes and gators and no one would ever step a foot in it. Good luck with your project 👍👍👍

To spend so much time on every detail of every space must give you a really incredible sense of intimacy and pride with your home. I expect that for as long as you stay there the projects and improvements will never end. When God gave us dominion over the earth, I believe he wanted each of us to own and improve and beautify our own piece of the planet. Blessings to you, young lady.

What an amazing property. And so much great organic material waiting to be turned into compost and fertile soil. Mostly I’m jealous of having a river and a creek. Looking forward to hearing about the projects you are planning.

Hard work always pays off. Your property started to look like a little paradise. My advice use whatever discarded small pieces of woods as fire woods but nice tree trunks you may want to save to build fences, trellises, and grarden beds, tipis, borders etc plus eucalyptis wood doesn't attarct many bugs... I hope this helps!
