Please keep any olive trees you have. I was so upset how many were torn out of Turkey. I look forward to your journey and know it will be frustrating but bare with it. It will be worth it in the end. I had 28 years with my husband until cancer got him, So enjoy every minute you have good and bad. xxxx

Great insulation idea. We did a shed cabin up on the Tennessee river. Off grid is the way to go. When you learn to live debit free you have accomplished something big. We retired at age 47. Different reasons. Mine was a disability. My husband just had the opportunity. But a big job has started just 12 miles away from our home so he is coming out of retirement, it’s just too good of an opportunity. He is an electrician. We had not imagined a big job like this being brought to our back door. It’s a blessing. It will enable us to accomplish more at the homestead. We just built a garage. Next a sun room. So glad we left our big house in the city. We sold it 6 years ago. Life has definitely been better. I never want a big mortgage again. It’s not worth it. Life is too short to work consistently. Work hard when you are young to set up a good homestead so you can retire early.

Idea for outhouse solar panel. Creat a square or triangle box and a base with a “turn table” or swivel. Mount the solar panel on one of the sides. You may want to install some way to stop the swivel after you adjust the Sun direction you want the solar panel to face. The box can be mounted anyplace it’s easily accessible so you can turn it.

Excellent job! I’m really happy to see you finish the outhouse instead of just doing the minimum to use it then saying you’ll finish it later! You’re making great decisions. That chisel needs sharpened. It should be sharp like a knife. Old tools are usually the best quality. All drill bits need sharpened when they are dull. Learn to sharpen on the rainy cold days.

Back before orange juice was pasteurized and bottled and you had to squeeze it, the juice would go into a juice pitcher that was about 32 ounces, or about .95L. There would be 4 small glasses that held about 8 ounces each or roughly 263.5ML. My mother would make us freshly squeezed on the weekends. Best stuff I ever had.

Any updates on the shower? I think it's quite clever using the corrugated metal as some cheap and cheerful waterproofing for the shower. However, I'd be concerned about moisture become trapped behind the corrugation and create a habitat for mold. Really curious to hear about it as it's the first I've seen it used indoors! However I love working with it, I think it would be a great material if successful

May I suggest that you find some gravel to cover that mud with. If not the whole tracks, but at least in places where it’s a serious problem. It would be good to at least have some gravel handy to lay down, and help get your van unstuck. It’s a convenient way to quickly gain some traction. 😊

Loved the new video, keep it up! I looked at your instant water heater a couple of times with interest... Does the exhaust come out into the shower room, or does it vent to the outside?? If it exhausts into the shower room you will get condensation, but MOST importantly the room will fill with carbon monoxide, an odorless gas that will kill.
    PLEASE be careful!!!

Have you thought of reducing the number of stairs on your outhouse from 3 down to one wider step midway?

a simple pole roof over your van for rain, even a simple pole and tarp roof shelter can make life more easy and bearable..that way when you step out, there's cover.. And it provides a place to be out of rain.

Save the pips and try germinating them for future trees.
