    I trust their grading. I actually prefer to buy my PC Cards in an SGC 10 over a psa 10 because of the value. I don’t think it’s a terrible idea to buy SGC 10 over a psa 10 for investment purposes either.
    I feel like there is more room for the card to grow as the respect for SGC within the hobby and with investors continues to grow.

    As a collector (and not a flipper/ investor only), SGC is my favorite grading company right now. They grade tougher and I can pick them up cheaper than PSA for the same card. No real reason based on the grading method or card quality why the cards are worth less than PSA. I'll always buy the card I want and not the slab, so give me SGC any day.

    The fact that SGC is transparent and forthcoming with information is big for me. Then add that to a really good product and you have a winner in my book.

    • @thomastaylor9579

      love the term "transparent "which PSA in my opinion is not. They've sent 3 of my vintage cards back as altered, with no designation as to how they think it was altered, and still charged me $164.00 a card, and when i called in for a explanation was basically told it all depends on how the grader feels that day, and yes, we charge regardless of if the card gets a grade or not. Now i use SGC which i am currently waiting on an 8 card vintage order. Moses Malone,DR.J,Terry Bradshaw, Walter Payton etc.

    Actually, I think current data shows SGC is a clear #2 having easily surpassed BGS in terms of cards slabbed and cards sold. I use them for vintage cards - very accurate & fair grades, most vintage look amazing in SGC tux, and hey the price/turnaround combo is something that nobody can touch at this time.

It’s the newbies over the last 3 years that are PSA sheep as they are amateurs. The numbers of modern going to SGC will reverse when PSAs prices come down…. Because the inexperienced are mesmerized by PSA

      thats kind of the whole point, to get psa prices down out of the stratosphere and have more parity across the graders. i hate that a lot of people seem to think if its not psa its not worth owning. a card should be a 10 whether it has your label on it, or my label on it, or bugs bunnies label on it. and the sale price should reflect the condition, not the grader.

    I love the video Scottie I just started submitting cards to SGC from advice from a guy that submits to PSA and he said SGC is caching up price wise to PSA and they're turnaround time is excellent. They're customer service is exceptional I had 2 orders down there at one time Brent is making sure they come back all in 1 box instead of 2 boxes since the 2nd submission was unexpected in matter of a couple days from the other. Matt was the one who called cause issues with payment thru PayPal and paid over the phone and Matt took the time to let me know he looked at one of the cards and he said it looked great. They look at the autos when send for card grading for no extra service. Which is great. My experience is I would prefer them ove PSA and wouldn't be surprised if they catch up to pricing to PSA since they were $300 behind a year ago and now it's $10-$60 behind but they grade tough and hope they continue to get all the support and go in the right direction they've been going in over the past year.

    This is a great video. I’ve done only SGC since i got back into cards 2 yrs ago because I thought the monopoly PSA had on the grading circuit was absurd and you should never wait 6 months (or 18 months for that matter) for a slabbed card. SGC slabs to me look VERY clean and their customer service is superb. I even got a voucher for a future card grad because 1 card I had sent in was too thin to slab so it got a no grade. They were returning emails at 10pm Pacific time on a Monday. They will have my business for the foreseeable future. GO SGC!

    From a vintage standpoint I have always leaned heavily to SGC based solely on consistency. BVG is a joke and PSA standards are all over the map. People would do well to take hard looks at the cards in SGC slabs, chances are they look better than comparable grades from the other two.
    You did hit a major point, they communicate and are transparent. I can forgive alot, just communicate with your customers - looking at you PSA. SGC has done that well and is why I use them exclusively now and have for the last few years.

      @AustinSamuelF 2 года назад

      @@PIP-zf9yb Well I really hope that changes and we see values grow for modern cards slabbed as SGC. You think $30 for a 20 day turn-around is ripping people off? • @PIP-zf9yb
      @PIP-zf9yb 2 года назад

      @@AustinSamuelF I guess rip off is wrong word. It's not a viable option at that price to grade with them. Very small window of cards worth submitting at that price. They are not very busy right now for that reason. People are crunching the numbers and realizing they will be losing money unless they get 9.5s which is tough. Csg is the best option for low end cards at 12 bucks you can't go wrong even with them reselling low . Sgc will eventually be forced to lower there prices once psa comes out with bulk pricing towards 2/3 quarter. Lots of good information and well put together. Let’s be honest here, surveys never get the true answer that is out there so using story lines is never going to be accurate. Not that there’s a better way, it’s more the only way right now. Maybe putting numbers of answers compared to seen would help. Anybody that makes content is an influencer. You may not believe it, but after watching this, your influence would change the outcomes for all the surveys. It’s like people haven’t learned from PSA and what happens when they get flooded. The market will see a larger influx of SGC and values will go down. The majority of people submitting to SGC is strictly for selling and not very many of us are keeping those for PC. It’s easy to say SGC is grading and selling more cards only because the coast to grade is so much cheaper. Let’s see what happens now that economy is becoming more open. We’ll see if there’s an update video showing the SGC numbers going down in the future. Thanks for sharing! Eddie

    I've been subbing everything to SGC as well recently. Love the turnaround times. Only thing I don't care for is the actual slab (feel) itself, as compared to PSA's. Other than that, I think they do as good of a job - if not slightly better - with grading "vintage" cards as PSA did/does. I will continue to sub to them, as I no longer feel like dealing with the current and possible future PSA B.S. Example: My 3 card order that has been at PSA for 15 months and is STILL in the "Research" step. Sigh... Finally, it feels like PSA's answer to clearing the backlog is to simply assign PSA 9's to almost every modern card subbed.

    Scottie, I currently have an 8 card vintage order in with SGC, I don't use PSA anymore, just non transparent enough, especially when they send your card back with an altered designation, charge you $150.00 +16.00 tax a card and with no explanation of why they think the card you submitted was altered in some way, a sharpie was used to color in the boarder, or some kind of solvent was used to remove wax, something, but when i called in for an explanation since they charged my credit card, $492.00 bucks, I thought i deserved an explanation, but was basically told it's up to the grader, and how they feel that day, and yes they do charge weather the card receives a grade or not.

    I think SGC has done yeoman's work to add to their brand.
    Miles they've come and miles yet to go.
    As far as value, this might be a ever-shrinking window of opportunity to buy SGC 10's vs PSA 10's.
    I recently bought two Shohei Ohtani rookies. I paid about 29% less for the SGC 10 than I paid for the PSA 10, it's a value.

      It's not a shrinking window psa has a wide wide gap on sgc that hasn't closed and don't see it anytime soon. At current prices sgc has a small window of cards worth submitting if you resell your stuff. I like sgc but only use them for p.c. cards I don't like lighting ROI on fire just because I prefer there slab over psa. I like anyone else who's smart uses psa for anything high end

    When submitting cards for grading to SGC, does submitting multiple cards in one submission bring the price per card down? Or is it a flat $30/per card for the 20-25 day turn around no matter how many cards in the submission?

    I always bought SGC from 1888 thru 1941 (first choice) then PSA. From 1947 thru 1979 PSA was preferred, then SGC. But, last year I noticed SGC was getting more competitive in PSA territory and are starting to get the appreciation which is well deserved. I believe SGC is more consistent than PSA and in some cases, even tougher when grading. I didn't like the new SGC case at first but, it grew on me. 2 years ago I wouldn't have purchased an SGC if I could get a PSA. Those 1950's cards sure look good in an SGC holder.

  • @alanmerritts

    It is the stigma of PSA getting peoples loyalty for their graded cards for so long that is putting that hold on people. Hopefully, people will be more open-minded and things will change even more in the future. I have always thought highly of SGC. The cost differences are very important, just as is the integrity department, instead of PSA getting the "big head" and overcharging ( which means you are losing on the resale), and holding you "hostage" because of their name. Remember, with business, ultimately we are the boss.

  • @Rocky-N-Angel

    IMO I think SGC is a player for #2 and could be a threat to PSA in the future. The turn around times, customer service, and pricing. Those 3 big things is something PSA is not doing very well at and has not for quite a while. I also like that they are consistent in their grading where I have seen so many cards get a 6 or 7 from PSA then that card gets re-subbed sometimes back to PSA and it gets a 9 or something crazy. With all that said I like PSA but I am really starting to LOVE SGC. Thanks for this video.

      @@scottiebcards2354 well that in itself is more than enough to get my vote! I think it's strange that no one is actually talking about this but what PSA is doing seems CRIMINAL to me.. at least, I don't understand how it isn't? To assume that everyone is a "quick flipper" and is going to turn around and sell the card for whatever PSA deems the value to be, that's crazy! What if Joe Burrow is the next Nick foles and you're somebody that has a phenomenal card, you're not planning on selling it, but you want it in a slab for protection purposes and in all honesty just for some bragging rights.. are you really going to pay 2,000 EXTRA dollars to get that card back only to have it drop in value if he IS in fact the next Nick Foles? I just think it's really crazy and it seems like blackmail and extortion, especially when they won't give you your card back UNLESS you PAY for it, it's not like you can decline to get the card graded and have them just send it back to you, they won't do THAT.. I know everyone agrees to whatever the circumstances are at the time of purchase, but I don't think too many people actually think it's going to work out that way and I'm more than sure people are taken by surprise when they get a note from PSA saying they owe even $1,000 ($200 on top of whatever I initially paid would piss ME off)... I know I couldn't afford to do that.. and being somebody that has no intention of selling anything for the next 10 or 15 years, it basically means I either won't be graded and DEFINITELY won't use PSA if I decide to! So I'd really appreciate it if you, especially you because you do such an amazing and analytical job with your videos, would talk about this.. this is EXTORTION! This shouldn't be legal!

    I'm a big fan of SGC and have graded hundreds of cards with them but long term they have to do some things to prop up their resale value #$ relative to PSA... They don't have a set registry, which is a perpetual disadvantage vs PSA... Their best asset is PSA's continual disfunction... But they need to expand in some way to help create demand for their slabs...

    Great video Scottie and I couldn’t agree more. Prior to last year I had never submitted cards to SGC before, mostly because I was not a fan of their grading system or their antiquated slabs. However, with PSA and BGS shutting down I figured I would give them a shot and I have to say I’ve been really pleased with their turnout, the overall grading and the look of the modern cards I sent in with the new Slabs. I’ll trust them with cards going forward that I won’t pay $100 with PSA for. As for BGS, I always loved the sub grades and sturdiness is their slabs, but at $250 a card they are really falling behind.

      You think SGC grades *harder* than CSG???? SGC gives out 10's like candy compared to CSG and BGS. I think a PSA 10 is much easier to hit than a CSG 10, as well. People either forget or don't yet know that CSG comes from a group of authenticating and grading companies who have global experience and predate all the rest. In 5 years they will be the standard because CSG 10's are flawless and soooo hard to land.
