  • @rockiesinoctober
    @rockiesinoctober 2 года назад +1

    The thing about getting attached to guys on the team you follow is interesting. I think it depends on what team you follow. For example, Yankee fans loved Jeter even though he was a fairly average player, but that made him blow up.

    • @snerdterguson
      @snerdterguson 2 года назад

      And non yankee fans called a flat out winner “fairly average” for some reason. You know there’s only like 5 guys ever with more hits right? I know that he’s not a top 10 all time player, but “average” players hit around .265 and don’t take a face full of stadium seat to catch a pop up in July. Jeter was far from “fairly average”.

    • @rockiesinoctober
      @rockiesinoctober 2 года назад +1

      @@snerdterguson Jeter is an all-time great but not because of his stats.

    • @snerdterguson
      @snerdterguson 2 года назад

      I'm guessing you've never looked at his stats then, because being just shy of This Speaker and being just over Honus Wagner absolutely SCREAMS all time great. So does a .310 average, 70+ WAR, a career OPS over .800 at shortstop, plus combining speed with some pop leading to 260 career homers and just under 360 steals.
      His stats absolutely make him an all time great. It just happens that as good as his stats are, his clutch, guts and "it" factor outshine them.

    You should include body types for longevity guys like Rafael devers vlad jr Zion prince fielder Billy butler that are husky in there early 20s break down at a young age I was one of these guys 220lbs always in the gym but then the weight just came with metabolism slowing down in late 20s even with training it’s a combination of genetics and sometimes cultural with foods you eat. Your knees back neck feet it all breaks down quick when you have extra weight. It’s even a risk for health when guys are fit like nomar or Tatis griffey jr there aggressive playing styles led to injuries just makes it more unlikely for longevity when a guy has a dumpy body type.

    • @jbscardbreaks4389
      @jbscardbreaks4389 2 года назад

      One extra note Devers is mediocre at 3b but it also doesn’t help anyone playing home games in Boston that infield is the quickest in the mlb and bad hops are common there.

    I look at how many times a player strikes out in a season. If it’s over 100. That’s bad. How many errors the player makes at his position. How many runs scored, which is huge. & lastly games played. I’m staying away from Tatis because he is so injury prone. I don’t see how his cards gain more value than what they are already at now.

    • @scottiebcards2354
      @scottiebcards2354  2 года назад

      Well, this whole video is why I like Mookie Betts. Elite offense, other worldly defense, elite base running, and will end up with around 80-90 war which is an all time great tier, he has two World Series rings so far and is consistently on winning teams. We can’t fault trout for losing but not give Betts credit for winning. Also, I am still a fan and love the way he plays. He is a great person and does humanitarian work like crazy. Besides Mike Torut he is the safest and Best Buy from the 2010s so far in my eyes. In my opinion he is a generational talent (depending on how you define generational talent).
      Casual fans (not saying you are casual) don’t realize how good he is due to the overall aspect of his game providing value and not just his bat.
      Does that explain it a little more? Let me know your thoughts!
