  • In today's video, I will be explaining why I believe the Monster Hunter franchise has the absolute best creature designs in all of the gaming industry. From the more silly and light hearted monsters such as Kulu-Ya-Ku, to the more edgy and brutish monsters like Nergigante, the series boasts an incredibly diverse cast of memorable beasts. As someone who has been obsessed with drawing monster and dragons and dinosaurs my entire life, this series is basically tailor made for me.

    Monster Hunter design is interesting because, realistically, not a single large monster would ever exist (at least in the way they are with all the excessive amounts of spikes, armor and scales) and yet, for the most part, the world feels immersive and 'realistic'.
    The explanations for a lot of monsters may not make sense by real world logic but I think the explanation is given at all with an attempt to base everything in biology makes it work.

I played Wild Heart and Souls games, souls games have too responsive movement and weapon moves don't really gel with each other, Wild Heart come close to MH with way faster pacing, but it has way too many animation skips and you don't really feel it when hitting the monster, some monster moves are janky too.

    100% true Monster Hunter has _the_ best boss/creature design in the ENTIRE gaming industry 🔥
    Tetranadon and Shara Ishvalda are the 2 best designs imo.
    Tetranadon is the most beautifully subtle design showing off the skills of the MH developers in how they can combine _multiple_ real-life animals with mythological concepts and portray both traits in a naturalistic believable way through a single creature *_while_* giving it its own flare and personality to make it stand out on its owns as an incredibly unique, yet not over the top, creature
    Shara Ishvalda is on the other side of the spectrum showing the teams amazing abilities to study understand and then adapt mythological & religious imagery and concepts into a giant gorgeous bombastic design of a creature with very little real-life creature inspiration.... and STILL create an amazing yet somehow believable creature that not only very clearly embodies the concepts of the religion but also who's moveset and abilities still somehow make visual & logical sense despite being very purposely extravagant
    (Shara Ishvalda takes inspiration from Hinduism and Buddhism and I'm Hindu so as soon as I saw him I recognized almost everything about him and yet was obviously still floored by his amazing and unique design)

How Is this Giant, Glowing, Blue & Yellow, PIn-headed, lightning-spewing wolf suppose to properly hunt when It would scares all Its potential prey before It even gets close? Yeah, because none of the other monsters are giant, flashy, or loud.....

    • @Animortar
      @Animortar 3 месяца назад

      @@ratkingkingofrats1525 Whether Zinogre takes a stealth approach doesn't really matter. Zinogre's a big, loud and glowing monster, from a distance there's a clear danger even If covered In foliage and even if not particularly fast, Aptonoth would leave the area as soon as they heard, felt or saw something big coming their way and Zinogre Is not built for running since he's bulky and top heavy. Granted Zinogre could still catch up and grab one but at that point you would have achieved a far better result If you were being sneaky or you could run fast.
