- Revised: The New Glock G44 in 22 LR is Glock's first Rimfire Pistol. It's the size of a G19 with a Polymer Steel Re-enforced Slide and 10 rd Magazine capacity. Excellent for training, plinking, sport shooting and introducing new shooters to the Sport. Available Jan. 20, 2020
Thanks to Glock for sending the G44 for the review. (Full disclosure, Glock is offering a media discount so I'm buying the pistol.)

My airsoft buddies will finally call their hits.
Dead😂😂
😂😂😂
they'll be dead. there won't be any calling anything
@Matthew Bott yes of course multiple shots in some cases but any shot to the head with a legit .22LR round 1200-1500FPS will put ya down. I know people hate on the .22 I wouldn't personally carry it or advocate for it, but its a super sonic small bullet and gonna put a nice little hole in a ya haha.
@Matthew Bott SAVAGE
I just put 200 rounds through my new g44. Four different types of ammo were used with zero malfunctions. I’m very happy with my purchase
Ammo used ?
Seriously? I find it hard to believe, even the best Eley match .22 Ammo out of a perfectly clean ruger 22/45 would be capable of firing 200 rounds without a single malfunction.
But I hope you are right because I want to like the G44
Milne jammed
Good boy
I just did the same thing with my new Taurus tx22.
I was so happy..I've done it with my victory many times..that's a 22 for the shooter
The statement about .22 being something relaxing and something you can shoot all day is so true. Once, several years ago, when there was a .22 ammo shortage, I was down on the farm with my sons. I left my older one at the range with a box of bulk .22 (I think it was Remington). We came back sometime later, and my son had shot up the whole box. I couldn't get mad at him, though. He was just so happy.
I've had mine for a month now. I've shot 1000 rounds and so far I love it.
That looks like fun. I honestly thought Glock would never introduce a .22 to the lineup. Glad I was wrong! 😎
Really appreciate the edit and revision. Thank you Sootch!
Thank you for the revision/ updated comments - it definitely is a option that many folks will want, thanks
Just got G44 ... runs Reliable like Every Glock! So many Glock haters criticizing it because it doesn’t like cheap garbage ammo - I never shoot budget ammo in any firearm -- if you do then you probably can’t afford a Quality Glock pistol anyway! GLOCK Perfection!
Thanks anyways! I'll stick with my Ruger MK II's and standard Beretta 87's. Not really sure why so many keep mentioning the .22LR cartridge as a training round. It is without doubt a deadly cartridge that should not be dismissed simply as a training round!
No, it’s just a training/varmint round.
@@echofoxtrotwhiskey1595 go watch garand thumbs 22 vs human head video and see for yourself that’s not true
Cheaper and lighter recoil is the reason.
The mafia use them for a reason. If it hits your noggin you are dead.
Lost my father thanks to a few 22 LRs to the head.... They are indeed VERY deadly
Just bought one for my son to learn with. At the end of the day, it’s 22 pistol and malfunctions WILL happen. People are being unrealistic with their expectations.
It's to expensive for a gun with to many malfunctions u should got another better gun for cheaper
Thanks for providing an honest, and straight forward position on the G44. Nice video as well. I'm considering adding it to my collection, replacing my Sig mosquito. Biggest reason is that its super finicky with ammunition. I like the fact that Glock has put significant R&D into it. Looking forward to taking it to the range.
Shot mine today, loved it. No problems with any of the ammo good groups, just a pleasure to shot. I have Glock 27 40S&W, the Glock 44 is a pleasure to shoot, and my wife loves it. Shooting from a Wheelchair is no problem with the 44, very thankful to have one.
Sootch, thanks for the revision to include the stove pipe.
had it in the first one too
When the slide locks back that barrel makes me giggle
Finally, someone that gets it! The moment I saw the G44 I knew this would be a G19 trainer. LEO departments can save a ton of money and range time getting recruits trained on the basics before transitioning to either a G19, G23, G17, or G22. Besides, it looks like it's a hoot to shoot. I can't wait to get my hands on one!
Phillip & Kristi Cockrell
Ummm No... You don’t do service pistol training with pistols people aren’t going to carry... 9mm isn’t $3 a round. Municipality’s will pay more for ammo, weapons and maintenance, than utilizing the service weapons they already have... That should be consistently tested and maintained.
michael smith - I guess we will see. Obviously Glock knows something you don’t if they modeled this after the G19.
Train with the power you are going to use in the real world.
If you want a G19 trainer, just get a G19. Sheesh.
Until it is September 202 and there is an ammo shortage with no end in sight, then having a 22 trainer makes even more sense for the common man. I agree with the OP
Always appreciate your input and reviews. Keep up the great work and look forward to hearing more from this channel.
Being fairly new to shooting, I was getting heartburn over the cost of practicing with the .40 cal I had settled on. The idea of getting to practice with inexpensive ammo with a weapon that feels exactly like what I want to use to protect my home seems to make a lot of sense. Now my son can actually say he will help me with the ammo cost and mean it :)
I love it. The continuity and familiarity when moving from .22lr to 9mm seems self explanatory. I’ve got a mess of family members that this will help....and I do so love plinking with a .22 👍.
As always, your video reviews are absolutely fantastic. I know this one is 3 years old but I am now in the market for a Glock 44, and you are my GO-TO guy when it comes to reviews. Thank you for what you do.
Great comprehensive review and exceptional production of all your videos
We got your back, Sootch00, Don. I didn’t question your integrity with the original version where you notated the error in a banner. Everyone makes mistakes, and one stovepipe out of a brand new 22 is not very memorable. No biggie, really. Thanks for all the great videos; I’m a Patron contributor (a meager donation, doing what I can), because I believe in what you do and the fact that you fight to stay on RUclips to keep people informed, ESPECIALLY new shooters.
Thank you for your excellent review. I have pre-ordered the G44 and am waiting anxiously for January 20. Keep up the great work!
Michael Ferber only a glocktard
sootch00 is by far the best reviewer of firearms on RUclips. Thanks
Sootch, I watch your videos all the time. Thanks for the revision to include the full stove pipe of when you did clear the weapon.
Normally, I would not comment on your edit. But you kind of indicate that the stovepipe issue was due to you forgetting to include it, during editing. But you clearly edited it out partially which shows that you knew about it and tried to edit it out. This is not mentioned to embarrass you. I only mention it, because many of us respect that you usually give us unbiased reporting. Your revision help restored my faith in your unbiased reporting. Keep up the good work I enjoy your channel.
I thought this was stupid at first, but once you consider the price of 22LR vs 9MM, this looks much more appealing. You can shoot and train with this a TON without going broke. Hard to put a price on that.
And still hurts
I appreciate your transparency, Sootch. I'm totally going to pick one of these up asap.
Transparent? He said he was stunned when he was invited down and they made the announcement. Then later he said they sent it to him before the announcement. Hes the most dishonest I've seen.
Thanks for another great video. When I first heard that Glock was doing a .22lr I thought good but wasn't too wound-up about it, but then I found out it was to be the same size of the G19, I knew I had to have one!
First tried it 2 weeks ago, 362 shots, no malfunction with different amos, eat all of those: remington golden, cci mini mag, rws target pistol, remington thunderbolt and federal auto match. Verry reliable, love it!
Thank you for putting this together! While the gun was disassembled, would have appreciated an understanding of how the trigger (drop) safety works on this rimfire model.
Saw the first version of this review, and never thought any negative thing in regards to it. You are golden with me Don.
Agreed
Have really been enjoying my new Taurus TX22. No failures, fits hand nice, holds 16 rounds and is inexpensive!
I just want to take time and let you know not only this gun review but all of your gun reviews I appreciate very much I have learned a lot over the last several years and enjoy the humor at the end of your program on each episode God bless you and keep up the good work
I love my Glocks but I’ve already got the Taurus TX22 and it’s got 16 rds, threaded barrel, and an awesome trigger and is 100% reliable with any ammo I run through it. Oh not to mention it’s half the price of this 44. If Taurus can make a 16 rd mag for a 22 and it be reliable, I’m sure Glock could.
Look at the volume of the magazine. Like ruger 10/22 mag thick. If glock were not so lazy they would manage reliable 20 rounds mag
Chance absolutely the truth my friend!! 🇺🇸👍🏻
Then dont buy one haha. None of you have any idea of why glock went with 10 rounds. They claim that 10 round mags were necessitated by their reliability standards. If that is true, and you want a reliable 22lr glock to train with, stfu you should be happy. If you dont want a reliable 22lr glock to train with, then stfu and dont buy one.
yeet1775 if everyone thought like that then we probably wouldn’t have this pistol, the side gate Henry, guns that take glock mags, etc. Customer feedback is a useful tool in the firearms industry.
I love my tx22. Would say it's class leading for what it is. And I wasn't even a taurus fan before I bought the gun. Dollar for dollar. Can't beat the tx22. I'll have to see the Glock in person.
0:18 failure to eject.
ARMASPR 2:41 besides a brand new gun can have issues until it’s broken in so I’ll give them 50 rounds.
@@earthsurfer13 im sure that was just smooth editing

sootch00 - YOU are still my FAVORITE reviewer/RUclipsr!!! THANKS!
Mine running perfect and loves the suppressor barrel. DA Mask is a perfect solution. Very accurate and fun. Already helping my GSSF scores. 488 yesterday.
I think I'm going to buy my first Glock! Love playing with the 22
Dude you didn’t just edit out that malfunction I hope. Because I’ve been watching you for years now, loving your show and your knowledge. I’d hate to think that your one of “those” guys...
be strong, be of good courage, and let’s all keep our integrity.
Merry Christmas folks 🎄
Yep.... Glock gave him the business and he had to walk it back.
Why would you think that about Sootch00 without watching? The stovepipe is right there. 12:45
That was the first thing I seen, failure to eject in the first shooting clip, should have edited that on the fourth shot instead of the fifth lol
First stove pipe is shown in th The first 15 seconds then he discussed it. In the first video he made no mention of the stove pipe and the comments were killing him for it because it was the same shooting footage
@Ghost ya know I pondered over that for a minute because it just didn't sound right but I guess I was wrong
At this point I’ve got around 400 rounds through my G44. Glad I bought it, fun and cheap to shoot.
Good that you are upfront regarding any potential issues.
I literally just bought one today it just Cathy my eye some way
Well done, Sootch. Long live the Republic.
I will stick with my grandfathers High Standard .22, love it!
Can’t wait to get mine!!! I currently have a gen 5 19 and the full size 48 witch is essentially the 19 but single staked. I’m getting the 44 the day it becomes available.
Clear, concise and very informative. Thank you. You answered every possible question.
At 4:20 thanks for spendin your dough to make reviews for us Sootch! I’ll will continue to watch all your reviews on your dime all day long! lol...seriously Thanks again man! I am waiting for the threaded barrel version!
Is there a threaded barrel yet?
I have found that with 22LR pistols one still needs a firm grip for that light round to cycle the slide. Also light power 22’s will give you problems, if you use high velocity/high power 22’ over 1250fps you are good.
Mine has worked flawlessly for about 500 rounds. No complaints. Fine quality firearm
Thanks Sootch00 for the review. Do you know if the G44 mags are compatible with a G19/G23 Gen 3 Advantage Arms 22LR conversion upper? I ask because the Advantage Arms mags are hard to load. The loading assist tabs on the G44 mags would make loading for my wife much easier if I can pick up some of those and they are compatible with the AA 22LR conversion upper.
You just helped me decide my next Glock, God bless you sootch! 🇺🇸
Hi is there any .22LR pistol with full metal body size 6 inch today body length
For me, with a shoulder injury, it looks perfect to play with while I heal and relearn. Great review. Thanks! New Subhere, like your work so far, I understand how YT's monetization is a pain... Thanks for sharing none-the-less! Cheers!
Great review.......I pre bought mine last week bought a bunch of ammo looking forward to some trigger time at the range. Again great review👍👍👍👍👍
I am absolutely surprised about my G44! No malfunctions at all with 6 different brand ammo companies. I clean it religiously and leave it a little wet but, it’s a good gun!
Awesome!!! I know what I’m getting my daughter for her 2nd birthday!!!!
SouthBay RickyBobby lmao
That's great! The earlier you get them acquainted with a good firearm, the better!
A 22 let bullet is powerful you guy always put the 22lr down the 22lr is an amazing bullet
Idk man... seems kinda dangerous. Even if it's just the gun without bullets.
A 22 lr would probably feel like a 9mm or stronger to her lpl
Sootch, I don't think anyone questions your integrity! Thanks for the review!
Think again
@@FoulPet do you question his Integrity? If so why?
@@Prodigalson0078 The BS saying he wasn't disappointed to learn it wasn't a sub gun and sugar coating the fact that almost every YT channel gives this gun poor reviews. This is more of an ad for a POS that Glock released than a review. Taurus put out a 22 that makes this look sick. Let me say that again. TAURUS put out a 22 pistol that cost half the price, has 16 round mags and is more reliable than this Glock. I own an SR22 and my next 22 pistol will be the Taurus not a 10 round jamomatic. If I went to a Glock presentation in hopes of seeing an actual innovative release and they told me it was a "10" round 22 the size of a G19 I'd probably ask to go home early.
@@FoulPet I see what you're saying. From what I understand faster bullets fly better with the Glock. Can't go wrong with the SR22 though. Or the Taurus for that matter. Happy shootin!
I will definitely be buying one of these as soon as I wake up tomorrow hopefully
Great review!! As always! I can't wait to try out the G44 myself!
Thank you for full disclosure. You have to make a living by doing these videos. I watch you show and you are sometime corny IE bad jokes lol. but over all your very detail and honesty in commentary.
What kind of hearing protection is that you’re using? I like those!
You really dont even need it for 22s lol
Bought one yesterday and excited to visit the range this weekend! Great review!
How has it been any misfires or load problems or jams?
Sootch00
I really appreciate your integrity as you mentioned. I've been shooting for over 40 years. Played drums for same timeframe.
Watching firearm, videos, listening to music, catching quirks, failures, and even professional recorded music, mistakes can be caught. All subconsciously. It just happens.
Listening to your review i was so glad to hear you go back and cirrect the reliability. You provide marvelous reviews. This particular review had me subscribe. I've had the Walther, and did not like it at all. Based on your review, i can't wait to pick up the G44. I have quite a few pistols, but for me the Glock is my favorite. Maybe..just maybe, the Hellcat might change my mind. But the brand has never caught on for me. Not bashing them. Its just the Glocks seem to fit my hand like a glove.
Awesome video Sootch00. Keep up the great work sir.
I got a S&W M&P 22 full-size I love it
Me too!
I'm on the fence between the Glock and the full size m&p. I may have to get them both.
0:19 Glock reliability is no match for 22LR.
Wade Wilson that stovepipe says otherwise.
@@beijingbiden5931 i think you misread it.
Yeah I saw that too, cut right after
@@Rhethion he probably would've never mentioned it had it not been caught on camera
Wade good eye your right on the money.. This thing is an expensive Toy that will never work 100% correctly and what good is a firearm that's not 100% reliable?? Im sorry but All Rimmed Cartridges were never intended for AutoLoaders they are made for Revolvers..
You are the best, I was wondering about this and comparing it to S&W M&P 22 Compact, I already have the G19S Gen 5, so I think this one is going to be a no-brainer choice for me. Thanks again.
Bought my daughter her first G44, We took it to the range. We both enjoyed it very much. It a Perfect world shoots like the G44 hits a like 10 mm
Excellent review! I bought my Glock 19X and with ammunition scarce and getting expensive I want a reliable 22 for practice. You sold me.
Thanks much!
Did get the 22?
@@TheRealBatCave I ended up with the Walther P22Q. Excellent weapons for a bit less money.
I watched the first video and the revised Sootch00. A+ for both. Also I don’t care who makes the pistol I have had issues with all of the ammo used. 22LR is not perfect and you will have some issue no matter what semi auto it’s in. It’s the nature of the beast with 22LR especially in a semi auto pistol.
Just picked one up this week hopefully weather permitting I’ll be going out this Friday to do some shooting
Hey sootch got some questions. Are the magazines durable enough to drop? Is that g44 frame compatible with a Glock 19 slide? And can you swap out the triggers?
Ultra reliability and light and accurate. Glock has a winner on their hands!!!
This may be a good alternative now that I’m getting older and me hand strength is less👍
cant wait. have been looking for a used 22 pistol . but will certiantly be picking this one up
Shot my new Glock 44 at range (150 rds). Worked flawlessly with CCI COPPER ROUNDNOSE 40 grain1235 FPS.
Comes with adjustable sights.
Man that thing sounds nasty ass hell when you were racking the slide
One stove pipe out of 400 semiautomatic rounds isn’t bad
I have an M&P 15-22 to train for my AR. Guess I can use this for training on my Gen 4 19.
I see a new GSSF division coming.
I’m excited too!! Love 22LR!!! Great cheap and fun round
Good presentation. Very helpful and because I just bought one today it really made my day to hear that I made a wise choice Thanks
Good shooting
Perfect home defense weapon for old folks with arthritis.Put CCI stingers in it and a good laser and your set.
@Oscar Zamora The laser is necessary for older people with bad vision and little training.Just put laser on target and pop pop pop.
That's the one for me!..Already have the Olight Baldr Pro 👍👴
CCi Velocitor 40 grain hyper velocity outperform the Stingers on larger targets, many videos showing the two compared.
Think at that price I'll stick with a m&p .22 it's $300 and comes with a threaded barrel already and has a good reputation for being reliable.
But the safety... :/
I have the original Walter/ Smith & Wesson M&P22 for over ten years or so still the best 22 pistol I’ve found or shot plus its factory 12 round
@@9mmBdig Love the S&W MP22. We have the Walther one as well. Great training pistol shoots accurate and eats everything we put in it. We did have problems with a box of bulk Winchester White box and then the next box no problems. Bulk is bulk.
Would prefer the Ruger sr22
@@9mmBdig this is what I've seen in literally hundreds of reviews. Reliable , prices right and suppressor ready. Glock missed the mark here.
Love the out takes. Well done. More please.
Hey sootch00. Love ur videos keep them coming. Just wanted to ask how the reliability has been with the glock 44.
When my friend said Glock is for anybody, now I understand what does he mean.
Says zero malfunctions, shows malfunction.
At the 18 second mark
That's why he uploaded a revised version of the video, where he specifically addresses this.
Glock won’t be very happy with him now.
😢a 22lr malfunctioned ? ZOMG Sootch must be lieing and GLOCK put out something that doesn’t work....ok bud.
Don’t upset the glocktards

Let us know where you find one!
I was just wondering when glock would make a 22 cal friggin awesome lol i wonder what they cost
A striker-fired 22 caliber LR. Come on? That is awesome I can't wait to get my hands on one.
@savethealamo1 I'm definitely going to get one. I have a Sig Mosquito 22 cal. And I love it. A bunch of guys on RUclips try to bash the gun. But they're all full of bull. It is a great backpack camping gun. God bless you man and have a great New Year.
Just got a taurus tx22 for 250. Compared it to this and it was a no brainer. Trigger on taurus was light years ahead of glocks (which isn't hard to do) it also comes with a 16 round mag and the barrel comes threaded and with the adapter for a can. You can buy 2 Txs for the price of this and have enough left for a bunch of ammo
I was a little nervous getting this as my first gun, but I'm glad I did. For my use and needs, this fits the bill VERY well.
if you dont mind me asking, what do you use yours for ? i wanted one for concealed carry but i know 22’s are usually on the weaker side in terms of caliber.
Let me know when they stuff 30 rounds in that same mag I’ll be at the store filling the paperwork out thanks 👌🏼
Exactly. I know 22's are have a rim but come on. Let's at least figure out how to double stack them. Or better.
Bill Edinger makes me wish 5.7 was more common
@@billedinger71 Yeah. Or at lest allow "slight over lapping" to raise the cap from 10 to around 13-15. ( + 1 in the chamber)
if you want that, Keltek has the CP33 in 22lr or the PMR & CMR 30's in 22mag. and yes they got all the early bugs out of the PMR & CMR. Looks like they did their home work with the CP as it doesn't have any key holing issues like the early PMR's did
@@joesmith9220 That is quite True, quite true indeed. However, The CP33 had to give up a bit of concealability to Archive that Capacity, along with Sport a Grip that's much Thicker than other 22LR Firearm (and even some 9mm handguns, though not by much). But, if Weight, Concealability, and Thickness is not a factor/issue -- Then the CP33 is perfect. (While other times a Single Stack can still be more suitable)
The price needs to come down for a .22

@@MacPro8CoreMan I feel sorry for your wife having to carry that thing.
BuzzedLightyear why? Im not into Glocks but 22 will get it done and this seems as or more reliable than all the ones I've owned.
@@jseden because .22 will malfunction more often than any other round
@@jseden .22 can definitely kill somebody if it bounces into a vital organ but the question is will it immediately stop a threat? So lets say bad guy breaks in and has a gun, and you have your gun and fire, will the caliber you have stop him in time that he wont be able to reach up and shoot back? With a 22 he'll most likely take the hit, shoot you, and then bleed out later or be off to the hospital. With a 9mm and up and good hollow point ammo you should be able to knock the energy out of him so that he cant reach up and shoot you.
I know what my next pistol purchase is. Thank you for the review.
Your reviews are very positive more then any other on the tube thanks for that
I wish Glock would release a flush 30rnd magazine for the 44
I was hoping for a G36 style 10mm, with a 4" barrel.
Kennis Easter I didn’t know I wanted that until now
@@gassesv think about it! Would be awesome. 7+1 with a flush fit, 8+1 with the extended Mag. I wouldn't complain if it had a 4.25" barrel for the "Commander" feel.
Dude you need to find a job in firearms design ASAP
@@juanitolopez8945 so you like my idea too? What would you think about a Glock 48 size in .45 Gap. It would be a 6+1 or 7+1 depending on the magazine design and width. I think if they fixed the slides on the GAP pistols, made them the same width as a 19, the GAP would be more popular. Springfield had a .45 GAP XD that was the same with as the 9x19 and .40 pistols. So why can't Glock do it?
@@gassesv more like a glock 38 chambered in 10mm. You know so i could grip the pistol

You are right, I take my advantage arm 22lr for first time shooters, to build confidence. Then I move them to my g19.
They should have made it a double stack like KELTEC CP33 OR TX22 The mag is a glock 19 plenty of room for double stack , just Put in a staggered plate down the middle of the mag! Just 🤔 thinking. They you would have some gun. Thanks Ham&egger
The first magazine, it looked like it jammed right before it jumped to the next mag cycle.
That was the video it showed towards the end.
protect your 2nd biased much?
He’s a fraud!
That’s because it did lol
@El Gang it didn't jam jamming means the gun wouldn't fire it fired that was a failure to eject the casing
FINALLY! I've been advocating a .22 GLOCK for decades now, never understood why they never entered this market! Ten rounds capacity are perfectly appropriate, as You mentioned this is about reliability of the gun, GLOCK is quality, and there is enough junk in the market, I think the price is excellent, around $ 350 for a quality gun compared to $ 250 for junk is no question to me!
Old comment but Taurus tx22 is 16 rounds in the magazine and is completely reliable. So if Taurus can do it Glock should have been able to do it.
One of the most fun plinkers I've ever had.
