To the guys writing about GPS in the comments: Always have a plan B and C to navigate, as your GPS can also fail, and you might get so used to it that you lose the skill of navigating by other means.
Guy never learned reading VOR radials or how to look at water towers for where he is when just putting around building hours. Student pilots can never fail to amaze sometimes.
Man, listening to this my breathing became very shallow and my jaw began to tighten up. I could just see how this could go very wrong very quickly. I'm not a pilot but love the idea of becoming one some day. Scenarios like this give me the willies, though.
First thing I did after I got my PPL was to get a tablet with Fltplan Go and a yoke mount. Of course, I still carry maps just in case, but I very much prefer not to work with paper maps while flying. I've never got lost so far, plus seeing ADS-B out equipped planes is a huge plus. On top of that, I'd rather be in the comment section than being featured in a RUclips video 😁
Everyone is bagging on this guy. I give him credit for speaking up. Once he landed I hope he learned to use VOR and has a map with him at all times in the air.
I don’t get it, like how do you get a PPL, decide to fly but have 0 navigational information on where you’re going. Or seemingly know how to. I’ve never flown a real aircraft in my life only simulators and understand this. Apparently they give PPL’s to anyone now a days. Which is scary.
Doesn't know how to use VOR? So OK, I can remember when I first started flying that it could be a bit confusing exactly where you are at times. Although only for a few seconds in my case. But multiple airports in close proximity to each other has been an issue for thousands of pilots thru the years. Especially in an area you aren't familiar with. Especial for a low time VFR pilot. Landing at the wrong airport or lining up on the wrong airport has been done too many times to count. I give this guy credit for....AVIATE...NAVIGATE....COMMUNICATE. He was somewhat lost and he recovered exactly how he should have. Kudos for him doing things in the correct order. Now, please study charts, approach plates, and the VOR/GPS before you fly again.
Let’s don’t use that word “pilot” too loosely here. A partially trained man in a plane, possibly with some type of certificate (possibly valid and current), got lost in the air.

Spend a few bucks for a hand held GPS and never get lost again on the land, sea or in the air again.
Aviate, navigate, and communicate. Thats it
Hard to aviate or navigate when you don’t know where you are. Doesn’t help with the communicate either, based on this audio.
Or just start circling, pull out a chart, and triangulation your position based on VOR radials like you are supposed to!
ATC can be a baby sitter to pilots from time to time.
😂😂

LMAO, how the hell people take-off without a flight plan and the basic of NAV, even we DCS players don't do it, wtf
It’s hard to believe this happened.
One of the first things my flight school told me to get is an iPad and ForeFlight.
This guy has his private and doesn’t have any of that?
What happened to dead reckoning?
It's dead, I reckon
@aprillic good one 😀
Isn't 7600 "Loss Of Communications"?

Good Lord!
Who’s soloing these people? I’m blaming the instructors!

You can literally solve this with a phone. Jesus.
