Hoist the Jolly Roger! YE BANISHED PRIVATEERS take no prisoners. With 'First Night Back In Port' a loose merger of ruffians and raiders will take you back into the cruel world of the 18th century. Be prepared for rough times where pirates dominated the seven seas. With the help of Irish and Skandinavian folk as well as raw punk they brew stormy sea chanties. None of their sprees is as alike as two peas in a pod. YE BANISHED PRIVATEERS count 30 crew members. At least a dozen of these buccaneers arm themselves to the teeth with fiddle, banjo and accordion on any of their feasts. All of them with grumpy gorges but hearts made of gold when they sing against laws and nations. If this pack of rags and tricorns ask for a dance no gums stay dry, no peg legs stiff. Smoky gullets join in unique sounds of long forgotten days - a time travel back to honest and moving music.
> Expected Pirate Metal
> Got Pirate Folk
I'm happy with this.
Same lol
Excited to see them at WWN. 5 times or so :D
A Surprise to be sure, but a welcome one
I remember when they advertised by uploading their first album to The Pirate Bay
Pirate is a bit like "In Space!/Space!" when you add it.. things get better.
Try it!
This was not the song I was looking for, but holy shit I can’t get it out of my head. Beautifully haunting.
Same. Was looking for a old alestorm type band and came across this and I'm so happy I did
Listen to :
You and Me and the Devil makes Three.
First Night back in Port.
The amount of emotion she manages to put into her voice is incredible. Gives me shivers.
totally agree a couple. years later
Oh you should listen to her in Death of Captain Bellows
It shivers me timbers
That's an irish women for ya
She teared me up ❤️
Thank you for history lessons in your songs. I've learnt that J. E. Oglethorpe (1696 - 1785) was a British general, MP, and founder of the Colony of Georgia. He is also known as a social reformer, the author of a plan to relocate representatives of the poor in Great Britain, primarily prisoners of debt prisons, to the New World. So Annabel was one of them.
As some people asked for it, here are the lyrics, taken of the booklet from the album:
I met a lad from Donegal
Heave away, haul away,
I got pregnant by the fall
´n hauled away to Georgia
I got jailed for all my sins
Heave away, haul away,
Had me branded on my skin
n´hauled away to Georgia
My name was Annabel I say
My name was Annabel
But now I´m resting in the ground
in a grave in Georgia
I´ve been drinking far too much
Heave away, haul away,
Banker´s got me in his clutch
´n hauled away to Georgia
Whisky´s not my only vice
Heave away, haul away
Lost my farm on card and dice,
got hauled away to Georgia
My name was Annabel....
Her name was Annabel...
Brick for brick and stone for stone
Heave away, haul away,
building George a brand new home
So haul away to Georgia
Picking cotton for his vest
Heave away, haul away,
When indebted there´s no rest
Haul away to Georgia
My name was Annabel...
Her name was Annabel...
Ambushed by the Yemassee
Heave away, haul away
Pinned an arrow to my knee
when hauled away to Georgia
Doctor came into my tent
Heave away, haul away,
took me leg an´off he went
Oh, haul away to Georgia
My name was Annabel...
Her name was Annabel...
Fever´s gotten to my head
Heave away, haul away
The Devil´s sleeping in my bed
Oh, haul away to Georgia
The be no drinking when I´m gone
Heave away, haul away,
Oglethorpe he snatched our rum
Oh, haul away to Georgia
My name was Annabel...
Her name was Annabel...
Thank you man!!
Thank you so much! With love from Russia ;)
thank you from Argentina
Bump!
Thanks for your work from Ukraine 💙💛
I like to imagine that all the outlaws and poor souls of history meet at that beach to have a good time together after their death, telling each other their life stories
Well that's just... given me some major D&D inspiriation, thanks.
That ending scene gave me the biggest chill down my spine, Annabel's ghost, standing over the little girl was a ghastly surprise! The whole time the child was on top of Annabel's long lost grave, listening to her sad story through the medium of a shell...makes you wonder, all the downtroddend folk of the past, their names and stories lost through the passage time, ye might be standing over their graves and never know it.
Ifn ghosts were athing the world would be full of them buggers.
That blackbeard guy always make an atmosphere for me.
Ondřej Čeřovský the one and only blackpowder pete
The guy with the blond hair and beard playing the violin was my music teacher in 2019
No he wasn’t 😂
Whaaaat
Seriously? Thats cool as fuck
Not gonna lie, I was expecting an discount Alestorm, but this is actually fantastic. Very original.
Same here! Great surprise.
I don't know what I was expecting but it wasnt this. This was a recommendation from a family member. I'm so glad he recommended it to me
Alestorm are a discount this xD
Agreed, I'm glad they aren't anything like Alestorm.....they do weird stuff with anchors ⚓. Lol
The difference is ale storm are "swag pirates" these guys are traditional.
This is fucking beautiful
Now my favorite pirate ballad. I raise a tankard to Annabel!
I did not expect this to be on Napalm Records. I can gladly say it's good to see some adapting going on :P
I love the music of Ye Banished Privateers. And I found them through Spotify just wanting to get my mind of my depressing job. (I hate my job but am stuck there cause I need the money) But ever since it is Ye Banished Privateers who get me through my day! Annabelle and Capstan Shanty are two favorites. Thank you guys, for making my days at work bearable!
❤️❤️❤️
You sir have an amazing taste in music
Magdas voice is so strong and amazing.
I can imagine travelling the beautiful land of Skellige and happening upon a little camp in the wilderness with these guys around the camp fire singing this song. Old Geralt takes a seat beside them and listens with pure enjoyment.
I love The Witcher 3
Or going into a tavern in skyrim or something and just hearing this for the loot players that are always in the taverns
Hmm.
Adelle Thompson maybe but I gotta be that guy it’s lute
@@silversurferdelta Fuck
Some of my ancestors came to America as pirates and others were privateers during the revolution. I love this band and would love to play a shanty with them some day.
Even had seen notes and documents stating an association with big name pirates like Anne Bonny and Mary Reed.
Something different on this channel. I like it.
"There'll be no drinking when I'm gone, Oglethorpe he snatched our rum" is most likely the same Oglethrope who appears in Black Sails as the owner of the Savannah estate, since he was based on a historical figure, the first governer of Georgia, who really used prisoners as workforce.
The song is about penal migration to georgia. Oglethorpe took with mostly debted prisoners hence the lines of banker, debt, lost her farm etc : )
... just love it - when I first heard it, I was immediately touched - and now listening on your new album and seeing this wonderful video - it's so awesome ...
Oh wow, didn't expect that this would be so beautiful.
I got goosebumps from listening 0.0
Nebucatnetzer totally agree
Oh wow! Someone else had the same reaction.
I came to some tears when I first listened to this song. It is hauntingly beautiful. A real pirate ballade.
Beautiful. Grace O'Malley, Mary Read, Anne Bonny, and a few others are probably waitin' to meet y'all.
The suits are sublime. Crazy
my theory is that the child in the video is the descendant of the child Annabel had with that lad from Donegal
The Napalm guys are smart to work with this guys, even the heavyest metal head needs songs like this
-Honey, what did you do today?
-Oh, mum, I met that girl! She said her name was Annabel.
-That's lovely, sweetie! Where is she now? Did she come back home?
-No, she is resting in the ground, in a grave in Georgia.
Plot twist, the mother was dead all along.
Sad 😢
So great... can't get this song out of my head, can't stop singing... I love it...
Yes, I hear it in my head over and over since a week now. It's very strong & touching.
Pretty sure I'm easily 20 or 30 views of this song over the last few years. Love it. Anyone else?
Idk how this ended up in my "Music" playlist, but I'm glad it's there.
Love the little wink she does when she says "whiskey's not my only vice." I feel ya.
I have not been able to stop listening to this in 24 hours since I first discovered it.... Absolutely beautiful song!!
Got the CD yesterday, was well worth the wait. Thank you for another great album!
I expected a new pirate metal band, something like good old Alestorm, but I was pleasantly surprised..
You should definitely listen to their two previous album then, still not "metal" but there's some more "energic" songs if I may say :)
Nobody can compete with Alestorm but this folk music is brilliant and has hit a different market. It will be successful in a differnent way to Alestorm.
I don't know, Lagerstein and Dread Crew of Oddwood have released fantastic albums on par with Alestorm. Pirate music is looking pretty darn good recently.
Ghorza Thanks for citing these two, too many people reducing "pirate" inspired music to Alestorm only.
Makes me thing of german scene with Knasterbart, Vroudenspil, Santiano (more sailor than pirate songs but still)...
James G: Matter of taste really, I like both and for me they are different enough to not warrant any comparison.
this song is by far one of the best ive ever heard, the way she sings, the way she portrays her emotions for the video, this woman is by far one of the most amazing singers, the band is amazing as well, they are just so perfect
She is repeating the same tones for 3 minutes, what's great about this song
@@j.s.4819 you cant see it i guess, you must be some emotionless droid or something brainwashed by this newer music
@@j.s.4819 wanna hear a song with the same lyrics on repeat? on the railroad by colm r mcguiness
They are amazing. If you have the chance, go see them live. So much energy. You really feel like listening to a pack of drunken pirates. (but in a good sounding way)
I second this, seeing them live is an absolute treat
I'm in love with this band
Me too
So am I
I was expecting some Pirate Metal, but, this is freaking _pijudo_, it's just beautiful!
you guys & girls are truly pirates, i love it!

Thank You❤
Arrow to the knee...
Btw I dig this band.
thanks for the lyrics and the clan of the moon is my favourite as well
Thanks. My and my family are trying to learn this and hey very put me on vocals and I've been looking for the lyrics and couldn't find hem anywhere
When the next video RUclips got in the playlist comes up and you already think it's some cringy shitty pirate metal again and then this happens. One of he best things I've seen in a while. Woman got some voice there, and a lot of expression in it too. Instant fan.
really glad you liked it
Meddl Nightgaunt, du hast hervorragenden Geschmack
Is no one gonna comment on the fact that she took an arrow to the knee like a true skyrim guard.
Annabel: " -Skyrim- Georgia belongs to the Nords!"
😁😄
@@Thomas.Wright that's reserved for gametheory videos where he claims there a conspiracy and all of the guards knees are being targeted
@@Thomas.Wright I think that's what he said
Hmm gamers
adding this to the list of bands I wished I discovered sooner but will now binge for the next month, thanks youtube recommendations
Aaand.... there's a million! Magda, that sparkling wine! Its time! :)
It's popped open and flowing!
I expected the power of The Legend Of Libertalia.
For the first second I was disappointed. Then the song started. Another kind of power. It has needed just one another second to be blown away by this new power and their gained experience.
I've become addicted... To pirate and warrior music... This is beautiful
Omg it's amazing, so new, lyrics so cool, everything so different
Can we fucking get a 1h version of this? Coming back every 5 minutes to replay it is destroying my tantra.
She's so beautiful, combined with the banging tune it pulls me in everytime. I can't _not_ listen to this tragic tale
I was looking for metal music but listened this all the way to the end. This was very nice
holy shit.... There's few music that can get me to shed a tear. that song did. Impressive.
This is real music. You guys are creating the real music of out time. I am shaking this is so beautiful.
If you look the right places.. Plenty of bands/groups/people who know how to handle an instrument, not just some "run of the mill pop (flop) star"
If you like folk(ish) tunes, i would check out Hang Massive, SKÁLD (specially their song Rún ) or Omnia
Maybe not metal, but DAMN they know how to play (and kick a party)
Wow. That voice.
I love the song and have been wondering what the clip would be like..... It fits the song brilliantly. The intro and outro with the little girl are absolutely awesome!!! Tack !!!
My 3 year old sons loves this song I haven't managed to video him singing it yet. Love you guys your awesome. 😘😘
fuckkkkk this is amazing.... the pirate vibe you feel is contangious...
It is a very nice video, which reflects the feelings of the song wonderfully
Not gonna lie, this gave me Blackmore's Night vibes. Which is a damn good thing.
The first time I heard this song was at the first YBP concert I've been to (a few days before the release date of their latest album). I didn't really like the song at first because it was slow and kinda sad and I was used to more catchy songs. But Magda's voice gave me goosebumps... Then when the music video came out, I wanted to listen to it again, and that's when I fell in love with it.
Good work. I come back to this every few months.
God damn she has an amazing vocal range.
I've been waiting for this to be uploaded, finally!
This kind of reminds me of South Australia. It's a great sea shanty.
I just googled who these lads and lasses are who will play on the WGT this year... and I got instantly enchanted. Can't wait to see them there! :)
I love the way this builds crescendos then descends
This track was great on Wacken when they were there last month. Nearly everyone helping the chorus with the Heave Away, Haul Away.
Wow! this really surprised me, expected something totally different! This is really great!
"My name was Annabel, I say, my name was Annabel, but now I'm resting in the ground, in a grave in Georgia."
The Flying Dutchman jams out to this song every night in the seven seas
As I still wrote in another place: It's my favourite video of you and I think it's the most touching and emotional one. And the last scene still gives me shivers! Cudos!
me met that beautiful crew down in the rainy hell of wacken. would never forget dem ol
Saw you on tour with Visions Of Atlantis - immediately fell in love with your sound. Very, very cool!!!
fantastic song and video !!! at the end it gives me the chills !!
This is the most underrated thing i’ve ever seen
This song is amazing. The more I listen to it the better it gets! Gotta admit I think I have a mancrush on that dude with the long black beard, he totally looks like he should be in the next big epic pirate movie. Heck, all these guys should be.
I love it!! Not just because my name is Annabel of course.. I really have to listen to more of these songs, damn!
I only listen to stuff like ensiferum, finntroll etc........and since yesterday to YE BANISHED PRIVATEERS
I came across you guys only a few hours ago & already I'm loving your music!!! I will definitely be purchasing your album, I will introduce this to all my neighbours whether they want to hear it or not :D
Beautiful song
I think the little girl is Annabel's four or five times great-grandchild in Georgia, where Annabel raised her child back then when she was still alive.
She might be...but you'd have to add a couple more generations, because 4 generations back would be roughly around the 1850's, and the pirate costumes suggest this is supposed to be happening in the early 1700s.
Could be, yes! The headcanon still fits.
Maybe. Not all prisoners were allowed to bring their children. Especially if she was Irish sentanced into indentured servitude by a British judge.
There's nothing in the video to suggest this, but I love your interpretation so much, I cannot watch this video without seeing it that way. Thank you! It brings tears to my eyes every time.
@@TalairanPerigord right?? I like how seeing it that way gives even more dimension to Annabel's story. It didn't end with her premature death, she lived on through her son she mentions in the song, and through his descendants after that.
Such emotion and power in a voice. Like holy hell! A voice that makes me seek a cd to share music with other people who haven't a chance to hear. Dayum! So good!
best music video I've ever watched! I'm going back to listen to every song by this group!
Its long time when I had to listen to some song for five times without break. But now I must.
Saw this band last year at the Autumn Moon Festival. This song is very catchy.
I was so not expecting this! Such a neat feel to it.
I can't stop listening to this song or this band!
Amazing group! loved working with them at Elfia.
Awesome
i can't stop listening to this :(
got my feels all over the place
literally, 8 or 9 times in a row
❤️
I heard this song at a Pub in Madrid and was instant love
Soo addictive. Some very nice Pirates of the Caribbean vibes in your gorgeous forests of Sverige
❤💜❤😍😍
Great storytelling video!
Simple song, but wonderful production and performance.
Makes me want to go plundering ships, let's set sail mates!
Great voice. Love this!
so nice and well performed iam in tears right now thank you
I just love her voice.
LETS GET IT TO 1 million VIEWS TONIGHT!!!!
Only a thousand to go.
WE DID IT!! Thanks y’all! 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
The video officially has a million views, time for some champagne.
God damn this is a great tune
