I agree, they need it. I had some scale telephone cable that I tried, but it was too small. I am thinking of picking up some narrow art tape and trying that out.
Happy New Year. Just came across your channel. The March 2016 of Model Railroader has a very good article by M. R. Snell on Steel plate loads. I use . 020 &.030 styrene. It's a good idea to have a mix of flat and bulkheads with plate steel loads.
You do beautiful work. Do you really think it is important to paint the entire sheets if you can only see the edges? I’m very impressed with the realism.
I like the paint pen because I can basically slop the paint inside the wheel and call it done. When you get eye level with the wheels, you notice it but generally you don’t see much of it. Thanks for the kind comments!
Thanks for watching! The paint pen is this one in the link below from Amazon. UCHIDA 315-C-6 Marvy Deco Color Chisel Tip Acrylic Paint Marker, Brown a.co/d/g6prbwy
Here in Australia..... All loose loads need to be restrained, and usually, this type would have to be chained down. You show no restraints whatsoever on these..... A great looking load but I think it needs restraints added. Even your timber loads have no restraints... ..............
The car and the loads look great.. I did something similar but I did not glue the load to the car so it can be removed in the industry.. dansrailroad2011 also does a fabulous job @ weathering.. 😜🤗 DD
This came up in perfect timing. I've just purchased four various flat cars from Atlas and Walthers. Thanks for sharing with us.
Awesome! Thanks for watching.
Nice job,but you still need some banding around the load.
Thanks! I did finally get some on all of the loads. I need to do an update :)
@@BensTrainsChannel Check out 1/32 Graphic Chart Tape.

Great work👍👍
Thank you!
Nice work! They look great!
Thank you!
Right on cool 😎
Thanks!
Everything you did looks great. But where is the strapping on the loads for the cars?
I agree, they need it. I had some scale telephone cable that I tried, but it was too small. I am thinking of picking up some narrow art tape and trying that out.
@@BensTrainsChannel What about a very thin piece of yarn unwound?
@@BensTrainsChannel Chartpak Graphic Tape, size 1/64", available from Amazon.
Thanks! Will give it a try.
Low profile ties might work a little better

Thanks for checking the video out. Thanks for the feedback, I do like the idea of some flats for the steel loads as well!
Do you add bands around the steel sheets ?
Yes, I used art tape. I will catch them in a update soon. They turned out good, thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching Randy!

You need to band them together. I use black tape and black thread.
Yes, I agree. I got the art tape sitting on my work bench, when I get to it I will do an update on them. Thanks for watching!
What about some sort if retainer straps? Loose loads would not happen like this.
I agree. I tried some scale telephone wire, but that didn’t look right. I am going to try some narrow art tape and see how that looks.
Good work as always. Enjoy ur techniques. quick question, where do u get ur CA glue with that applicator? Thx Mike
Thank you so much! I got it from Amazon. The brand is Starbond and it comes with a bag full of the applicators and pin. I have been happy with it.
What size and brand are those bulkhead flatcars? I think they look really nice with that locomotive. Thank you 👍
These are Athern 60’ Bulkheads. Thank you for watching!
Great job!!! Question…. What paint pen did you use for the wheels?? Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

Any particular name brand?? 👍🏽
You ROCK!!!! Thank you so much!!! Please keep doing videos!!!

Thanks for noticing :) I have since added tie downs for the steel loads. There are some newer videos with the loads strapped in. Thanks for watching!
I would have made them removable but still great work
Thanks for checking it out!
Maybe this is a dumb question, but which is the thicker material, the 060 styrene or the 040 styrene?
Not dumb at all, took me a little to get used to it back in the day. Smaller the number, the thicker the size. So in this case, the 0.40 is thicker.
You don't model the loads being taken to customers and thus empty the cars?
These were for my run through consists. I plan on making some removable ones as well for my other flat cars. Thank you for watching and commenting.
We start with no flag or Fred.

Thanks! I am thinking the next ones I do, I will start the base on wax paper that way it is a removable load!
@@BensTrainsChannel That's a good idea too.... 🤪 DD
