ScaleTrains Tier 4 GEVO - Latest Release
Beautiful video. I’m new to Trainspotting and the region and I’m wondering how you find great spots like this… thanks!
Thanks for watching! I drive along rail lines here and there and keep an eye out for what might be a good spot, also watching others videos to see if there are spots they recommend. If you are looking into the Gainesville area it’s all luck because rail traffic is irregular around here!
Can't wait to see them weathered! Missed seeing your update. Any layout updates coming soon?
Thanks so much! It’s been a very busy year but I am starting to get some time to get back to the layout and videos will be coming soon!
Awesome what did you use for the limestone area with construction vehicles thanks
Thanks! I used sifted Limerock base for roadways, applied the fines and tossed the bigger stuff.
Great job, that came out great! I'm building a Transload yard right now. Wish I had more space!
Thanks so much! Same, I wish I had double the space.
Subbed you
Thank you!
Just love them Norfolk Southern units. Good job on them all. Dave
Thanks so much! There is something great about that black and white scheme, they model great and look even better on the rails.
Like the overpass. Gotta have them on a layout. Looks great. Subscribed.
Thanks! Thank you for watching and subscribing.
Hi there I've just watched 2 video on steel loads and subscribed because
Thanks!
I would have made them removable but still great work
Thanks for checking it out!
Very handsome looking CSX locomotives, these have to be the best looking/ most well accurately detailed non-brass models of the ac4400cw that I've ever seen available in ho scale. From what I've heard about Scaletrains is that they produce excellent quality products and these ac4400 models represent their high level quality and detail accuracy that the company is well known for.
I agree!
looks good, nice area for some switching operations
Thanks!
Nice!
Thanks!
Nice catch. This is as close as trains get to me.
Same!
I just got my N Scale Version of CSX number 38. It has sound. I’m really impressed. Though number 38 sounds very different for its startup. It does not sound like the Dash 8 startup
I have not upgraded any of the factory sound files, but if you are unhappy with the start up file you could always do that!
Lately, scaletrains has been adding different sound files to the N scale engines compared to their HO scale counterparts example the HO vs N SD40-3’s and now the AC4400s. Don’t know why there doing that. but for my SD40-3 I’m just sending it back to them and asking them to put the sound file that the HO scale has in it which you are definitely able to just make sure that you change the CV’s and volume levels to fit your speaker/decoder.
[thank, you for youre great video]👍
Thank you for checking this out!
[thank, you for you're great video]👍
Thanks for watching!
How do you find what customers still use a given line? It interesting to me how CSX seeming has this line run all the way into Gainesville without use
I know what customers are still receiving from living in the area. For instance the 84 Lumber will sometimes go weeks without getting a rail car and then they will get multiple deliveries. Further down the line used to be the last two customers, a masonry supply yard and a telephone pole manufacture, but that was about 20 years ago, now 84 is the last customer on the line down from the power plant.
@@BensTrainsChannel Yes. 84 Lumber. 10-4.
I have the WS street lights what is the CD voltage needed for them?. I don't want to buy extra PS if i don't have to. TIA
I have been using a 12 volt feeding a block with the lights plugged in and I feel like I could add many more.
What weathering powders and paints did you use on the csx sd70ace
I use an airbrush for paint, all badger colors; rail brown and grimy black, any fading is antique white. AIM Powders are rust, soot, and earth. Thanks for watching!
@@BensTrainsChannel you’re welcome for watching do you have paint codes for the weathering stuff currently my ace has no decals due to wish I was using to wipe off my weathering mistake went and took off decals too
where did you get the 53’ft well cars from ?
I ordered them from Modeltrainstuff.com back when they were released.
Here in Australia..... All loose loads need to be restrained, and usually, this type would have to be chained down. You show no restraints whatsoever on these..... A great looking load but I think it needs restraints added. Even your timber loads have no restraints... ..............
Thanks for noticing :) I have since added tie downs for the steel loads. There are some newer videos with the loads strapped in. Thanks for watching!
Looks great !
Thank you!
Maybe this is a dumb question, but which is the thicker material, the 060 styrene or the 040 styrene?
Not dumb at all, took me a little to get used to it back in the day. Smaller the number, the thicker the size. So in this case, the 0.40 is thicker.
Stressed gondola panels typically have a pattern to them. In general, they tend to uniformly bow out in the center with the lower limit being the weld or rivet line where the panels join the floor. It only takes a panel deformation of a fraction of an inch to be readily visible on the prototype, with an inch or two being about the maximum deformation they can sustain before the metal begins ripping apart. In HO scale, that equates to about 0.010 to 0.015 inches, about as thin as cardstock.
Thanks for the info. I think I had good technique, but went a little too aggressive with bowing the sides :)
You did a great job on that gondola. Looks really good.
Thanks!
Nice layout, excellent work!!!
Thanks so much!
What size and brand are those bulkhead flatcars? I think they look really nice with that locomotive. Thank you 👍
These are Athern 60’ Bulkheads. Thank you for watching!
Wow you did a really fantastic job on the gondolas. I have only just started out weathering my rolling stock. Using only paint brushes and sponge. Haven't taken the plunge into beating up my gondolas and scrap metal gondolas. But I'm definitely going to try it. I don't have a heat gun but i have seen other videos where they use ordinary bupane lighter to get the same effect. Thank you for great video . Really really enjoyed it.
Thanks so much for checking it out!
Very nice locomotive! Thought about getting one myself until some changes happened that ended up nerfing those plans for the time being. Maybe I'll get lucky and pick up a straggler, but if not, I'm definitely keeping a watch for run 2 of these locomotives!
I hear you on things changing! I needed to pull back on some of my pending train purchases myself.
Waiting for the next run with the steerable trucks.
I am looking forward to it as well!
We start with no flag or Fred.
Would that train need a helper even though it has ac traction?
It’s pretty flat in north Florida, especially the route they run, so it’s not needed. Perhaps around Nashville or Waycross they take off the DP units.
I’ll be in Gainesville Florida tomorrow how many trains Normally run that line a day
These are very beautiful engines. I would like to see Scaletrains version of CSX #1
This release has been so popular, I wouldn’t be surprised if the have double the amount of offerings with the next run. #1 would be a great one!
It would be #173 though where CSX #1 is a F40PH
I just added the blue one to my fleet of 5 engines. Now she's 6. Not sure of the road number and I do model the western BNSF but Scaletrains does not do the step lights and I'm in love (pay attention) to the ground lights. I see a lot of this power also in mixed manifest trains.
The details on these units keep getting better and better!
I feel operating step lights are around the corner, especially since Aurora Miniatures did it with their SD60F, but I'm okay with the other manufacturers taking their time on that so that they get it right!
They look great.
They sure do!
hello ben it's is randy and i like video is cool thanks and is cool is ac4400 thanks ben friends randy
Hi Randy, thanks for watching and glad you liked it!
Nice! Who made the lumber loads on the center beam cars?
They are Walthers loads. I want to say they are still pretty easy to find.
Nice job,but you still need some banding around the load.
Thanks! I did finally get some on all of the loads. I need to do an update :)
@@BensTrainsChannel Check out 1/32 Graphic Chart Tape.
Catching a train every blue 🌚 not bad…no rail lines near me
Yeah, you have a great point with that!
