Don't know about primitives per say, but pre-FTL/"woops, we missed FTL tech" starts were always interesting to me, especially after habitats were introduced which allowed empires to grow without expanding. Give me a start with (ability to get) Gaia Earth, ecumenopolis Luna, terraformed Mars, Venus, with habitable Titan, Ganymede and Europa, with machine world Mercury and with Dyson swarm of solar satellites around Sol. Or rather an ability to do all that. I think that such ultratall empires that are somehow denied an ability to spread out for first 10/20/30/50 years of the game, can be quite interesting from both roleplay and gameplay perspectives. The game somehow doesn't like very densely packed systems. With how things are, you can give them "guaranteed worlds" as really crappy systems with hyperlanes leading to their home system ie Sol to simulate them going at sublight there. After all, there is more then 1000 star systems in galaxy, but games like Stellaris or Mass Effect are limited by tech and time of developers so instead we see _interesting_ and easy to navigate systems. We fight an intergalactic war for 1000 systems not because galaxy somehow lacks billions of systems, but because most systems are crap and don't have convenient hyperlane/mass relay access.
Quite the fun episode and it also makes me think if someone was extrememy patient i believe it would be possible to make a series through a bunch of paradox games for every level of civilisation by using the initial création of every games to pick up where they left off within the previous game .
I'm gonna liberate you anyways. If our solar system would follow the same naming convention as other systems do, Earth is also called Sol-3 (Third rock from the sun)

They are mostly CK2/3-> Eu4-> Victoria 2-> Hoi4 Some include Stellaris if they manage to finaly unite the World in Hoi4 but the way funnier and interesting ones are the ones were the focus is less on expansion but more on creating a story of some kind.

An origin where you can’t get FTL tech for a while but your starting system is real nice, some great events and story about exploring that one solar system could be really good! Great ideas!
Yea a situation where you miss ftl or even story arcs where your attempts at it fail would be ultra cool (E.g. the event where you come actoss your old ftl prototype ship (cant remember if thats more events mod or vanilla)) I feel like in order for it to work in a balanced state, either more environmental factors for ftl would be needed, or ftl speed would need to be significantly reduced, for other ftl empires. cause you dont want to be a single system locked earth and then have all these other empires advancing properly and just eat everything around you. you would need to tone down the actual function of FTL as in a scenario where you can lack ftl for a while, other systems become way more valuable
@@akimomalrov3241 I was actually thinking of skipping main FTL techs completely. Instead they should get discount or at least higher roll chance to open jump drives and gates. But I guess players would exploit it by demanding vassalization from whatever AI arrives into their system first.
Wish they would let you do this base game. Kinda no point to the whole technology eras before space age and it usually takes halfway through the gane before you can seriously interact with them ie not worth it then
This mod reads like those hoi 4 mods where half the focuses have the description "MOD_SOV_BINGUSPATH_01" where you can so perfectly see what they're trying to do but they've just failed to finish coloring in the boxes.
Now there's an interesting idea, playing as a king in a primitive world, crusading all over the planet in an attempt to unify your species before the time's up. I wonder if you could make a game out of that.
@Gyaru Respecter Crusader Kings III/Europa Universalis IV/Hearts of Iron IV cover a lot of that ground. Maybe we need a mod that ties all of the Paradox games into a single campaign.

Yeah that was so much fun. Had it combined with a mod that allowed humongously large ships at the end. Ships wich would dwarf any Titans that came out with later updates by a lot. It gave the game such a feel of grandeur to know you started with a single little rocket once and became the dominant species of a whole galaxy

I always wanted to see a space game that would focus on the early stage of interplanetary colonisation, maybe such as colonising the first few dozen light years before you even discover the ability to go faster than light (you can get tech that can go 1%, 5%, 10%, even 50% speed or light before you unlock ftl. And ftl might even only be like initially 10x faster than light)
Dyson Sphere Program but more of a 4x game basically. Sounds sick. I would love a 4x set in a hard scifi universe like The Expanse, with multiple factions vying for control of the system. I don't think most people appreciate how big just one solar system is, and how much worldbuilding you could fit in one.
there is the planetary habitats origin from the planetary diversity mod, where you can build them on any planet, moon or asteroid and start with Luna and Mars colonized
hell, even building on the fact that the 'sub-light' is insanely fast - inter-planetary trips take months to do at the start, with trade and cargo being extremely important
Interesting mod. They should give these "pre-techs" some kind of description like "this tech path will lead to this in the future" ore something like that.
I prefer those mods that move your save from other games to stellaris. Once I started in ck and took a big kingdom, moved to eu4 and made it into a continental empire, made it into a colonial empire in vicky 2 and took the world in hoi before going to the stars in a wery well built up starting planet since I essentially played tall in every previous game, only taking enough territory to be able to develop it all. By Stellaris my world had almost all building slots unlocked, huge bonuses and 50 pops. It was pretty fun.
You should have used the Wick's: Humans mod too where you can have human portraits using both suits and ties as well as more contemporary looking uniforms for that authentic feel of pioneering spacerace humans.
Also kinda reminds me of that planet in Stargate Atlantis that some of the crew on the expedition think was just a game but it turned out their decisions were literally being carried out...
Humans are absolutely not fast breeders. We have a relatively long gestation period of 9 months (Blue Whales take 12 months, while rabbits take 1), we have a litter size of 1 (yes twins exist, but they are 1% of births), we take something like 12-16 years to reach sexual maturity (most animals take 1 or 2, elephants take 16), and we have far higher levels of death during childbirth than most animals. With the exception of freak outliers like the Greenland shark that takes 130 years to reach sexual maturity, we're actually on the slower end of breeding speed.
Depends on the group of humans. If everyone died in a fiery apocalypse but somehow only the Japanese managed to escape, our chances would be better than an average slice of humanity at large IMO.
This makes me wish Paradox would make a prequel game that kind acts as an addon to Stellaris that lets you evolve your species from a Cell stage. Basically Spore, but all with Stellaris mechanics.
How to play primitives in stellaris. Simple. Start the game, and then leave it running while you begin playing a game of Victoria 2 or hoi4. Pray you succeed before you get murdered. Return to game try to recover

It is rough as it is. But the BEST take away from this is that Energy and Money are separate. I don't get why it isn't the case in the base game, it does not make any sense at all...
it makes some sense once you start thinking about trading economies, 'Money' needs to have something backing it in a galactic economy. Energy being the one thing that all variants of sapient life can make use of.
I think I got a more extreme version of this mod, that forces you to evolve your species from the primordial soup, through the various phases of biological development into the stone age, industrial era then early space age before finaly entering the galactic stage. 🤔 ...I might be thinking of spore. 😑

What a real primitive mod should be: all empires start primitive. Only pick appearance. Build species, traits, ethics, etc through events/actions/buildings. X years go by: normal game start.

Very interesting concept, I did think the "influencing primitives" actions needed more mechanics to lead up to annexation/vassalization

At least you could play I can't even start the game with that mod and it was a clean install. In fact, I reinstalled the game only to check this mod.
So the idea of starting pre-FTL is actually pretty good, but this mod is just so over the top, it has so much stuff that wasn't necessary for that whatsoever, and it only makes it look like a bloated unfinished (unfinishable?) mess
How to get back into this game? Any fun goals to have, any new dlc that makes you actually be able to FINISH a match? or something?
Set your self some cool goals, an empire theme to play as, don’t min max and have fun with it!
This mod would be great if it was paired with a humans are space orcs mod. If only one existed. Both as playing as a advanced xeno race and playing as a human race

It is rough as it is. But the BEST take away from this is that Energy and Money are separate. I don't get why it isn't the case in the base game, it does not make any sense at all...
it makes some sense once you start thinking about trading economies, 'Money' needs to have something backing it in a galactic economy. Energy being the one thing that all variants of sapient life can make use of.

The Mods Creator was inspired by Distant Worlds. I love Stellaris but Distant Worlds is much deeper.

I think I got a more extreme version of this mod, that forces you to evolve your species from the primordial soup, through the various phases of biological development into the stone age, industrial era then early space age before finaly entering the galactic stage. 🤔

It would be great to have a dual species on one planet. I'm envisioning a East v West (i.e. NATO v Soviets) and have something like what's in For All Mankind.

Heh, didn't quite reach interstellar travel. Very close, entered the hyperlane, but I'd say this didn't quite get there.
What a real primitive mod should be: all empires start primitive. Only pick appearance. Build species, traits, ethics, etc through events/actions/buildings. X years go by: normal game start.
