    Also for medical school it’s almost essential to have been to Grammar School, so really the journey to medicine begins in Primary school with passing the 11 plus and getting a place in grammar school. Most medical schools won’t consider your ucas application if you have not been to a grammar school. The only option is to apply to an overseas medical school.

    Hello Rohan! I was wondering if alongside adequate clinical/healthcare work experience, tutoring younger students in school would be classed as volunteer work. I was also wondering if for extra-curricular activities I would need to offer evidence, as I am a self-taught musician but wouldn't have the means to prove that when making my personal statement. Awesome video, thank you for offering such insight into the application process!
    - Giselle

    • @RohanYesudian
      @RohanYesudian  Год назад +5

      Hi Giselle, thanks for your kind words and questions. Yes tutoring would count as volunteering if it were offered for free. You don't need any qualifications for evidence as extra-curriculars, You only need to reflect on what you have learnt from them in your personal statement. Hope this helps!

      Thanks Fathima - are you applying this year? It's best to have some work experience in a healthcare setting if possible. Have you tried seeking virtual work experience opportunities? However, don't worry if you can't find work experience because medical schools are being more lenient as they acknowledge the disruption COVID has caused in getting work experience placements. In my ebook i link to a great video which gives more tips on how to find work experience

    hey! i'm an international student wanting to study medicine in the UK, but over here in australia we don't really need extracurriculars or anything for our uni applications since its generally based on academics for the most part so i never really got the chance to do any. if i can do work experience in a hospital and maybe volunteering at a library or something as well as have experience in an actual workplace setting (working at fast food) do you think it'll be sufficient for my application, or do you recommend something more?

  • @sankalpawelimaluwa7395

    Do you think my application will be strong if I do maths, biology, chemistry and an epq or do I need to do a 4th a level on top of that to get into a top university such as Oxford or Cambridge.

    • @RohanYesudian
      @RohanYesudian  Год назад +2

      Hi Sankalpa, your application will be strong even without the 4th A-level. A 4th A-level is not necessary for Oxbridge, but I recommend doing one if possible. See this video for more information: ruclips.net/video/0x9S53rhR8I/видео.html

    Hi! I'm taking bio, chem, French and perhaps Italian too, I checked the cambridge website, and they said that they only require A levels of one of chemistry and one from either bio, human bio, physics etc (I forgot-) and they didn't specify the third subject, do you think I'd have a chance if I scored all A* on my A-levels? Please reply I've been dying to get this question answered 😭😭

    • @RohanYesudian
      @RohanYesudian  Год назад +3

      Hi Zion, according to the Cambridge admissions webpage for medicine (www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/courses/medicine), although what you said is true, they do say that "Most applicants have at least three science/mathematics A Levels and some Colleges require this and/or particular subjects". So although a third maths/science subject is not required, you might have a competitive advantage of taking another maths/science subject, and taking the language as a 4th subject? However, you might want to check the individual college websites so see if there are any further requirements regarding A-level choices. Hope this helps!

      If you want to get into medical school you need to have been to a Grammar school. If you’re still in school then you can do 12 plus or 13 plus to enter into a grammar school.

    • @RohanYesudian
      @RohanYesudian  Год назад +1

      It depends where you are applying. You don't need many extra-curriculars - it's more about what skills you develop from doing them. Oxford and Cambridge in particular do not look much at extra-curriculars
